Whether you're in Cartagena for just a night or an entire week, you have to stay at this gem of a hotel. Situated right in the heart of the old city, the hotel is steps from restaurants, cathedrals, salsa cafes and more.

Location aside, the interior of the hotel is simply gorgeous - the lobby is always appointed with fresh flowers and there's a beautiful atrium of hanging plants over a still pond right by the front door. The rooms are clean and spacious, the beds are large and comfortable and the welcome cocktail upon arrival was certainly a fun surprise. My room on the ground floor opened out on to a small square pool and, with that view, I'm surprised I even left to explore the city. There's also another pool at the rooftop with some pretty nice views of the city where you can catch the sun, have a few beers and make some friends (as I did)

The best part of this hotel though is the staff. Angelica and Carlos made the stay particularly enjoyable - they took the time to get to know our plans in Cartagena and provided helpful, personalized suggestions for things to do during our stay. They accommodated most of my requests expertly and promptly and were truly wonderful.

Thanks for a wonderful two days Casa Claver! I'll see you when I'm back in town next.

If you're going to visit Cartegena, then you have to stay at Casa Claver! The hotel is located in the heart of the city in a very charming neighborhood. The staff was amazing and extremely hospitable from the moment we arrived - I felt very at home in this oasis of a hotel. I miss it already!!! Thank you, Casa Claver!

The location here is great- right in the heart of the walled city within a 10 minute walk of all the sights- and the facilities beautiful but this hotel shines because of its friendly, knowledgeable staff. Anjelica and Carlos at the front desk made the stay special by giving the personal service lacking in big-box hotels. They got to know us, gave tailored recommendations, and welcomed us with smiling faces every day. We'll miss the service and will surely return.

Room tip: We stayed in room 302. It was maybe 1000 sq ft with a walk in closet, balcony and seperate kitchen/ eating area

We have stayed at Casa Claver two years in a row and we love it - and this is after stating at several other old city hotels in Cartagena. Casa Claver is a cut above - it's location in the heart of the old city is perfect and the rooms are clean, bright, wonderfully cool, and spacious. And the rooftop pool deck offers good views and a great place to relax and enjoy sunset. The staff is also excellent.

The location of this hotel is great. Its close to everything which makes it very convenient for someone that is a first time visitor. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. There are less than 10 rooms in the hotel which makes for quicker turnaround in questions/service. Angelica at reception was just great. All of her recommendations were on point and being NYers, she understood exactly what we were looking for in restaurants/attractions/day trips. She really made our stay much more relaxing.

Rooftop pool was perfect. Due to the smaller size of the hotel, rarely do you bump into the other guests especially at the pool. It felt like your own private rooftop pool where you can relax and read.

Breakfast was delicious and was promptly delivered to my room every morning. I had tried 3 out of the 4 breakfast options and they were all great.

Rooms were thoroughly cleaned everyday. Rooms and bathroom were a good size. Security in the hotel was great.

If I were list some cons, it would be that it took some time for the water to get hot in the shower. Also, try to learn some Spanish before going. While Angelica at the front desk speaks in English, some of the staff do not. Just knowing a couple of words will really help in getting the message across!
