“Poor service, poor amenities and poor hygiene”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

The hostel is just not up to scratch. It is poorly run with all aspects just not living up to what we have come to expect for such a price range. Not even rectified by cheerful staff. Even the simple task of getting washing done resulted in clothes returned stuffed into a bag and wrinkled... Which is exactly what you pay to not have happen. Waste of money. There are better places to go in the area!

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, our room was awesome, they cleaned the hostel at least 3 times a day. Air con in some of the rooms, wouldn't recommend the boat tours offered through the hostel, shop around on the street if you want to go to playa Blanca.

Stayed for a couple of nights which was more than enough.

Room has paint peeling off the walls which is just left on the floor, gives it a very dingy look. Whole place feels dirty including the kitchen and showers.
Kitchen utensils were in a very bad way so struggled to cook anything, 2 cats which are always on the tables pestering you for food.
Free towels which is a plus but the bathrooms stink, they seem to mop the floor constantly which dirty water which is horrendous especially if your dorm is outside the bathrooms.
Common area very small and Wifi is flaky.
Also service was shabby and very little attention paid to the guests as they just talk between themselves, after coming back from a night out we had to wait 10 minutes by the front gate to be let in while to guy watched TV.
Overall very expensive for what you get, much better off staying at Mamallena which is just round the corner opposite Media Luna

Stayed for 4 days, the hostel is situated in the hostel area of town walking distance from old town center, staff was very friendly and helpful, the room had aircondition which was nice as it can get very hot. kitchen was cozy 2 nd. Floor and open, overlooking roof.
Only thing I found a bit to my disliking was the cats. But all in all a very clean and good hostel,
By the way if you are on a motorcycle there is a parking area very near by, I can't remember price so it was very cheap.

Stayed here January 2014 for 3 nights in the 3 bed dorm room with A/C. The room didn't feel like a dorm room though and was rather spacious with a little couch and desk. We paid 28.000 pesos (roughly $14 USD) each and considering the great A/C, the price seemed more than fair. Within the room we each had our own lockbox that you set the code to open yourself (no personal lock needed). There are two small bathrooms at the end of the hall with showers (only cold water). Beer, soda, and water were sold for roughly $1 each with free coffee, two small laptops for general use, wifi (a bit spotty at times), and a kitchen area upstairs with all you need. The room and general areas were all kept very clean by the staff.

The location is in an area with numerous other hostals, small hotels, bars, restaurants, juice bars, etc. Plenty of action all around during the day and night. Felt super safe in the area. Was within easy walking distance to the old, walled part of town.

Would happily stay here again.

Great for backpackers. Clean, cheap rooms with lock boxes and friendly staff. Dimas in particular was a fountain of knowledge. Even if you're not staying here, drop by for help booking tours, activities and stays on the Islas de Rosario (the stunning islands an hour's boat ride from Cartagena).
