“Good day trip - decent beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

Had been to Isla del Sol and was very disappointed - especially the nonexistent beach and horrible food. Isla del Encanto was much better. The same drill - taxi to the boat, chaos at the pier (but Encanto was actually pretty well organized), speed boat ride at 9 am or so to the island, arrive at 10-10:30 and hang out by beach and pool or go snorkeling (which was apparently great), eat lunch, boat back at 3. Encanto has a nice beach - much bigger than Sol. The food (while hardly great) was decent. Staff seemed better, more organized, a bit less gimmicky. A nice day trip.

Of note, I did not stay overnight here. I came for the day and really enjoyed the facilities and location. Staff was great and the grounds were immaculate. Plenty to do from laying on a lounge, day-bed to snorkeling, jet skiing etc

This is a lovely beach resort with great staff. However, if you want the best experience be sure to stay overnight. The day trip crowd take over the relatively small beach area, but when they all leave at 3pm, that is when this place really shines. Having this place to yourself (or to a relatively few of you, is amazing and the sunset is truly spectacular. However, do note that while the rooms are quite comfortable (all with AC and Direct TV), they are not luxurious (there is no hot water and the amenities are clean but not special). That said it is well worth an overnight.

I went to this island with my Chilean boyfriend and this was definitely the best of his trip to Cartagena. The service is outstanding. Santander, Eliz and an other guy (I don't remember his name) were always trying to make out visit comfortable. I recommend this island but not for the "day tour" because I think it is not enough to enjoy the magic of this place. For couples it would be perfect 10, they made romantic dinners under the light of the stars and with the sound of the sea, amazing! This worth the price.

If you are seeking the perfect Caribbean island experience then you need look no further than Isla del Encanto, an hour's boat ride from Cartagena. I was there just as low season was ending so I have no idea what it is like at it's busiest, but in mid-December, once the day trippers had left, I had the whole beach and the hotel to myself. It's not cheap but it is value for money. 400,000 pesos paid for the round trip, a night's accommodation in a stylish and comfortable room, two lunches, a breakfast and a delicious evening meal of freshly-caught fish, and the best fried Yucca I have ever tasted. The staff are friendly and professional and whether you want to snorkel, dive or just laze on the white sand beach and swim in the dazzling clear-blue sea, they will help you achieve the perfect stay. Privately run, hawkers are few and have obviously been asked not to harass the guests so you buy only if you want to. All in all I had a perfect couple of days.

The day tour to this beach was definitely overpriced. To start with there was severe bad weather and the right thing to do was to call the trip off and give the money back, but we continued having a boat of miserable tourists. Ok the weather got a little better much later so we could enjoy some sun. Lunch was good, everything else on the tour is charged, from snorkeling to aquarium. The tour guide lacked empathy, and kept repeating the word group so many times that it was the only thing I could hear. And to close the deal this place is on Baru, not even one of the Islas del Rosario, so no snorkeling from the shore. Maybe other islands are better, this one does not get my recommendation.

clean hotel rooms, clean pool, very very good food and most of all, very nice personal.
we were there with our 1.5 year old son who was treated very nicely too.
new tv sets in the rooms.
very nice rooms too, little cabins, very quiet, really good to relax.
only draw back are the daily tourists. the Hotel does day tours from Cartagena. however, the daily tourists are only there from 10am to 11:30 and then again from 2 pm to 3pm, as most of them leave for tours over lunch. tours (like snorkelling) cannot be recommended, as most of the coral reef ist dead.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Little huts, not by the pool
