I felt utterly at home during my 5 night stay in Les Lezards. Marcus is an exceptionally helpful host (he even set me on his desktop to skype my husband back home) and his house is extremely well cared for by a team of staff, which really contributes to the pleasant and homely atmosphere. I looked forward to the generous cooked breakfast every morning, surrounded by pot plants and meandering turtles underfoot. I was fortunate to be upgraded to the African room, which is more like a suite filled with books and treasures from global travels. Have to say, the heat and humidity was so extreme I couldn't have stayed anywhere in Cartagena without a small dipping pool and aircon, and this place has both. The only thing that would have improved my stay would have been access to some books in English. The location is perfect-just around the corner from a plaza which is filled every evening with locals and tourists (about 70/30 I'd say) shooting the breeze, sitting on the church steps, drinking club colombias and ducking in and out of the corner shop to watch the soccer.
