The hotel is located one block from the beach (nothing special, but still nice to walk around) and close enough from the Ciudad Amurallada so that you can go walking in 15-20min. The pool is big and nice, the Casino is ok if you're into it, the breakfast has nice options of fruits and pastries, and the staff is very sympathetic and helpful, what is something rare in Colombia from my experience. Definitely recommended.

My sister and I bought a Groupon for Cartagena and Bogota and visited Colombia in May 2015. The Atlantic Lux was great. The room air conditioner came in handy since it was HOT during our trip. We found the location convenient to walk to the historical area, although not ideal. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. The staff were nice and everything was very clean. A nice touch is the coffee and water in the lobby, with a nice sitting area.

The hotel is near the beach and commercial establishments but a bit removed from the historic center. It's better to walk there - a long walk- or take a cab from the hotel. However, the staff is very nice and although the beds are a bit hard, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The best part is s delicious breakfast with fresh fruits and made to order omelettes. A good place to stay!

When I checked in, I was told that I would have to pay the local hotel tax (non-residents of Colombia are exempt) because I didn't have the page of my passport with the immigration stamp (I only had a photocopy of the ID page of my passport).

I asked if I could pay the fee plus tax now, and then send a copy of the immigration stamp the day after checkout and have the tax refunded. They agreed. I asked them to email me that so that I had something in writing. They sent me an email promising the refund.

The day after check out, I sent the immigration details needed. That was 2 months ago, and I have not received the refund nor a reply of any kind.

The amount wasn't huge, but it was a dishonest business transaction. There are countless good hotels in Cartagena, no reason at all to do business with this one.
