Hotel Casa Pedro Romero
Reviewed 9 August 2014

The four rooms are placed around a nice court yard, where your breakfast is being freshly made and served by the house keeper, when ever you wake up. - Coffee, eggs, bread and juice of your preference.

The rooms are big, with comfortable beds and roomy private bathroom, shutters to keep out mosquitos and most important, an air condition to cool down during the warm nights.

The Guest House i placed on a small street leading to a city square in front of a church, where kids are playing, some days there traditional dancing, local boys and girls are flirting. There is several restaurants and bars around the square and the streets leading to it. They are not disturbing you sleep. But ask for are room, that is not facing the street. As the shutters doesn't keep out the sounds of the street waking up in the early morning.
The area is not dodgy at all and has an authentic feeling, in contrast to the close-by city centre inside the city walls.
Although the historic centre inside the city-walls of Cartagena, is extremely beautiful and impressing it is almost too romantic and a bit artificial, with moon and star shaped street light, falling star lights in the trees, horse-drawn carriages for honey-moon couples and well-off middle-aged tourists. And the restaurants are over-prized.

Room Tip: Ask for a room, that is not facing the street to avoid noise from the street early in the morning.

I really enjoyed staying here with my boyfriend. The service was great, the rooms were big and clean, tasty breakfast. The only negative thing is that the lady who works there doesn't speak English but she was so nice. Also don't take the room close to the street, they are noisy.

Unless you are a hipster please dont stay in this hotel. The location is terrible, you can get lost between the backpackers and the "street ladys". You can hear everything in the rooms (zero privacy) and the breakfast is terrible. One last thing: the hotel is not finished, there was an ongoing construction in the patio while we stayed. You have been warned.

Located just a block away from lively Plaza Trinidad in Getsemani, this place is a great option if you are looking for a comfortable and inexpensive stay in Cartagena. Rooms are clean, big, with high ceilings and AC. The kitchen is fully equipped. The owner and staff are friendly. Breakfast is included.

My husband & I stayed here in July 2013 and loved it.
We stayed in the front room on the street and had no problem with noise.
Breakfast being included is really handy as then you don't have to face the heat on an empty stomach! Fruit & eggs mostly, more than enough for the price you pay for such a good room. Air con 10/10, shower pressure strong but temperature could be a bit hit and miss.
Only negative at the time was that it was hard to find - no number on the door so our taxi-man was a bit lost. A friendly neighbour pointed us in the right directions though.
Javier was extremely accommodating allowing us to leave our belongings in the room while we spent a day and night away on Playa Blanca.
I would recommend this place for couples, rather than single backpackers, as you are unlikely to be able to mingle with any fellow travellers because the communal courtyard is not very large. I don't see this as a negative, I see it as a positive because you can escape back to peace and quiet. Fantastic value for money.
Many thanks for helping us have a great trip, Whitney & Stephen

A nice little 4 bedroom property around a small courtyard.

The rooms are spacious and very clean although the front rooms (1&4) face the street which can be noisy. The back rooms face onto the courtyard.

A good breakfast is served by friendly staff but there is no full time reception. You are met on arrival though.

Well located near Plaza Trinidad in Getsemani, a short walk from everything.

Good aircon, no hot water.
