Great little hotel in the heart of an amazing neighbourhood. The pool was an oasis in the city, which we had to ourselves due to the fact that there are only a few rooms in the hotel. Pool doesn't close which is amazing. Great breakfast, best we've had in Colombia.

It was a little loud at night because of the proximity to a busy animated square and music from next door, but nothing that kept us from sleeping.

After staying at Casa del Hobo in the San Diego neighborhood for an 8 man Bachelor Party for 4 days I was eager for a "REAL" Cartagena experience and Casa El Carretero truly delivered.
A true "Colonial" style home in the heart of Getsemani, carefully remodeled with everything a modern man needs (AC and Bose sound system in room and on rooftop). Walking around the hotel you could see all the careful design choices, vintage furniture selection. The Giant palm tree from 1st floor to rooftop is amazing!!!

I was lucky enough to have the house, rooftop pool and staff all to myself for 1.5 days, before other guests arrived and everything was absolutely perfect.

Typical home-made Colombian Breakfast was best I had on my entire trip.

Maid, Butler, Cook all were so proud, professional, attentive, and helpful.

Plaza Trinidad, bars, restaurants and nightlife is right outside and you can chill out on the terrace and enjoy it or relax in the private rooftop pool upstairs and escape it all. Beautiful 360 views. Saw rainbow from Castillo San Felipe and knew the place was MAGIC!!

Will definitely return!!

My wife and two brothers rented the entire home for a week and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. The home/boutique hotel was amazing. All the bedrooms were very comfortable the roof top pool was AMAZING! It was very clean and the breakfast every morning was great. Another selling point is the location - Getsemani is the place to be! We walked to the walled city most days ( about a 7 min walk) but always ended up back in Getsemani, Here you get a true sense of what living in Cartagena is like and get to experience the awesome people who live there ( the home is about 2 doors down from the Trinidad plaza) Last but not least is the service... the attention to detail and friendliness of the staff put this place over the top. I am missing the place already!

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Getsemani. 5 minute walk to the old city. Gorgeous decor, super comfy bed, delicious breakfast, private rooftop with pool, extremely attentive staff...I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Cartagena!

The photos and positive reviews led me to have expectations that were not met. The room was adequate but should not be called a junior suite. Furnishings are old and unimpressive. Bed was hard. Linens were average. Balcony was great. Breakfast was just okay. Rooftop pool is teeny but a plunge on a hot day can be a relief. The first floor common area is aesthetically appealing but quite uncomfortably hot much of the time. The location is convenient but exceeding noisy. As the title states, the main strength is the staff who strive to please. Suggested day trips, restaurants, activities were all great. With only three units total, they have plenty of time to help you and go to great efforts to please---thank you!
