I was staying in Medellin for two weeks and made a reservation with Geo Hostel, including a receipt of a confirmation email from them. However, when I showed up from the airport they didn't have my reservation. The guy at the front desk pulled up our email exchange confirming my 2-week reservation on his computer but indicated that "someone must have forgotten to put it in the system". Even though it was clearly the hostel's fault, he took no blame nor apologized nor offered to help me find another place to stay. Unless you want to risk being welcomed to the city by rude staff (which is ironic in such a friendly city!?) and unexpectedly having to find a new place at the last minute and potentially in the middle of the night, don't go here.

Hi everyone, if you are looking for a place to resting, this is a good option,

It was an excellent place to sleep, incluyed a breakfast and it was good

I stayed 2 nights and I enjoyed so much

Go to that place and look for yourself

You will fine a Jacuzzi no the 3er floor, around the Hostel you will fine restaurants, some pubs and more.

Close to this place you will find Lleras Park, there is a lot of clubs, pubs and places to have fun

This hostel is basically new. Offers wonderful facilities. Clean bathrooms on every floor. Good space to hang out on the terrace overlooking the city. Great location, less than 10 minutes away from the subway station. Located in the wonderful part of Medelling. Close to many good restaurants. English speaking staff was of great help when we tried to rent a car in the city. There is an Exito supermarket right by El Poblado stop, it is a good place to buy fruits and other groceries.

Staying at this hostel now, so thought it was a good time to write a review. This hostel is brand new and rooms come with hotel-quality amenities including great hot showers with good pressure, beautiful sinks, brand new furniture all over the hotel etc. There is a good hangout area on the top floor which is open without doors or windows that includes a jacuzzi (wasn't operating end of November 2012 - they said it does when it's hot out) and a flat screen TV, water dispenser, couches, seating areas, etc. There is also a new kitchen downstairs and 2 free computers with internet on the second floor in addition to free WiFi, tea, etc. Prices include basic breakfast - we didn't think it was noteworthy though (pastry and drink). There are a bunch of options for private rooms and some dorms have ensuite bathrooms. However, there are plenty of bathrooms all over the hostel, so not having one in your room is not a big deal. They are all hotel quality bathrooms.

There are a few downsides, which may not matter to you. It really depends on what you're looking for. I'll list them:

- The hostel is in the prime Poblado neighborhood, but a good 20 minute uphill walk from the nearest metro stop (Poblado). Since most people take the metro daily to see the city, this is a downside. However, this location is within 1-3 blocks from all the bars and restaurants in Poblado, so it makes it easy to go out at night by foot and stumble home.

- There isn't much of a backpacker atmosphere. You can definitely create one if you come in with your own group as the amenities are there, but there is nothing created by the staff or owners that creates any sort of a backpacker scene. If you're traveling by yourself, you may meet someone in your dorm, but it's probably much easier at other places like the Black Sheep hostel.

- There is no soundproofing anywhere which means sound carries all over the hostel whether you keep the windows open or closed and most windows face inside the hostel. The ones that face the street are very loud due to street noise. This seems to be a common problem at hostels in Colombia. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Bottom line is that this is a good place to stay if you're looking for a brand new hostel with hotel-quality amenities....i.e. if you've been on the road for a while and want to get a good home quality shower, aren't looking to meet lots of people, and don't mind the longish walk to/from the metro.

Room Tip: Not facing the street if you're a light sleeper.

I can't rave enough about this hostel. Staff is great. Rooms resemble that of a 3-4 star hotel rather than a hostel. Very clean. Location is unbeatable. Value is also unbeatable. A bit loud at night but that is due to the unbeatable location and the fact that our room had an entire wall consisting of a picture window overlooking the best part of the city that we left open all night. Love love love this place.

This place was in a great location, near tons of bars and restaurants. The neighborhood is very safe and there is a lot to do. It was also very clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast was served in the morning. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions and suggestions on places to go as well as helping us figure out our next leg of the trip.

We have stayed here many times and always enjoyed it and think the location and service have been excellent. Extremely clean and friendly.
However, this last trip was quite different. We only stayed one night.
Even though we had reserved a Geo Suite on the front side, but we were given an interior suite with no windows and a noisy floor airconditioner.
The staff was not friendly in any way and talked very loudly about personal issues in the entry and staircase where the sound carries like you are in the same room. This was most of the evening and well into the night.
There is a lovely sala on the top floor of the building, great place to hang out. Unfortunately the large and noisy group who was staying there partied until around 2:30 in the morning. The only reason they stopped drinking and singing was because we called the staff and complained. After another 1/2 hour of shouting and crashing around, including knocking on our door numerous times, it finally got quiet. We got up around 7 and left.
