“Overall, nice place to stay, but could be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

This place has a lot of potential. The beds were great, no issues with the pillows, and it was a very relaxing atmosphere in a very safe location. The owners and staff were very nice and helpful.

We had a room with a private bathroom - which was not clean upon arrival and the toilet had issues the entire time we were stayed there. The rooms all open up to the courtyard, but the bathroom had no real privacy glass or covering. It's OK if you're short and people are respectful, but a taller woman may have issues.

The other guests who were there were great, but it did get loud several times late at night (after 1 AM). It never felt like a party hostel, but given the interior courtyard (as several other reviewers mentioned), quiet hours would be a welcome addition.

Overall, a little more attention to cleaniless and noise would easily make it a 4 or 5 in my book.

Room Tip: The private room without a bathroom seemed nicer than the ensuite, but is closer to common area so i...

First of all, the hostel is VERY relaxing. We even had an uninteruppted afternoon nap! However, we found several maggots in the cereal (on the 3rd day of eating the free breakfast). The hostel is a Little out of the way and definitely not a party hostel but thats absolutely fine for a nice relax. Then there is the unhelpful girl on reception who treats the place like her home and when asked what there was to do in Medellín replied ´There isnt that much.´ There is PLENTY to do in Medellín. The twin receptionists were very helpful though when they were there. NO MAPS are a real issue and the girls helpfullness means you get lost easily (hope one of the twins are on reception that day).We have since emailed regarding a left item and no reply at all. Thanks.

Far and away, the best aspect of Buddha hostel is the incredible staff. Duvan and Fransico go out of their way to ensure your stay is as perfect as can be. Duvan helped me to plan entire days in the town, decipher bus schedules, and even map out my stay in Cartagena on the Caribbean coast. When my hostel in Cartagena was overbooked, Fransico got on the phone and called from place to place to place until he found somewhere for my friends and I to stay.

The Hostel is situated in a clean and safe Neighborhood - Laureles. Public transport is close by, and taxis are cheap. There is a reputable University right down the block with affordable Spanish language classes ($10-15 / hr.). Grocery store, restaurants, and gyms are less than 5 minutes walk

The hostel is clean and comfortable. I have stayed in both the dorms and the private rooms. You will be provided with fresh towels, soap, sheets and a blanket.

The energy at Buddha Hostel is fantastic. There is always someone to talk to, interesting people to meet, and travelers who are down to go out on the town at night or during the day. Medellin is in an incredible city with so much to see, and Buddha Hostel draws the type of travelers that I like to meet

I was never planning to stay in Medelliín - however, due to my brief stay at Buddha hostel in early June, I have decided to return to Buddha Hostel to stay. I will be remaining here for month. Come mid July, I will be sad to leave.

Room Tip: Dorms are nice - come with sheets, blanket, towel, and pillow. Mattress are new and firm. I slept we...

The pics in web sites are nicer than the real place!! No hot water. Beds are really good but pillows not so good. Very helpfull
I booked a private with bathroom but the one without it that has window looking over the garden is really great so i preferred that one.

Room Tip: Best is the one over the garden. Full of light and air, lots of space and not so noisy.

This is a lovely chilled and relaxed hostel in a lovely location in medellín. By chance we met the owner of the hostel on our way from Salento. As we weren't so sure of where to go, when we arrived in medellín he arranged our taxis to the hostel without us even asking him. The hostel is lovely and clean, with a great design. Also the staff were very helpful with helping us book tours, and advice in general. Thanks for the stay!

A very safe area, quite a few restaurants to chose from, the communal areas are nice but the room we were in was a little musty but otherwise clean and a nice private balcony. Needed better pillows though unless you bulk them up with your clothes.

This is an amazing and relaxing place, the decoration and design is amazing, Mariano and Martin are incredible host and generally speaking I couldn't have found a better place to stay. Thank you guys and I hope we see each other in my next trip to Medellín. Gloria

Room Tip: The private rooms are the best, though the dorms are not bad at all. I specially like the red room...
