“Obligatory visit when in Medellín”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

This museum houses a great display of artworks by Fernando Botero (he was born in 1932 in Medellín), and also other remarkable works of contemporary (Colombian) artists. The building itself used to be Medellín´s city hall till 1988 and was built in the 1930´s.
The square in front, renamed into "Plaza Botero", is home to some of Botero´s most known sculptures. Easy to reach by metro (station Parque Berrio), or by car, with a car park in the back of the museum.
Went here in between customer visits, instead of staying in some restaurant decided to spent a lunch break on art. With two hours of your time this museum can very well be navigated.

“Botero at his best”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Located next to the plaza where 13 of Botero's sculptures are displayed this museum is a must. The museum houses permanent exhibits by Botero and some temporary international exhibits. The works of art are well displayed and give an overview of Botero's artistic work. From the museum there is a nice view of the Plaza.

“Seeing Botero”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

This museum has a large and beautiful collection of Ferdinand Botero, born in Medellin. In fact, the plaza outside the museum has an exceptional collection of large Botero bronzes. This should not be missed.

“Great Museum”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

I'm a museum junkie but even if you aren't this museum is worth a stop. Of course there are Botero pieces but there is so much more and quality pieces. There were several pictures in their international section that I'd love to see often.

The entry fee is low for the quality of the art. (In No America or Europe the price would be 3X.)

“Botero Botero Botero”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

Interesting museum devoted mostly to the works of Botero in fact it must have been wonderful as an artist to stand in the gallery watching people climb on and enjoy the works whilst taking photos of themselves with all the sculptures in the grounds outside. A prolific artist who has obviously devoted a lot of his talent to Medellin.
