“Welcoming and relaxing”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Stayed at Mango Hostal on either side of a Tayrona trip but it turned out to be much more than just a bed to sleep in.
The owner, Lisandro, has perfect English and was extremely friendly and helpful, making sure our every need was met and question answered.
The rooms were clean and well priced and the Hostal has a relaxing vibe which is enhanced by the fact that it is located in safe and peaceful part of
town.
P.S. breakfast was a real highlight!
Would recommend Mango to anyone.
Thanks for a great stay.

This hostel is run by a young Argentinian man. Lisandro speaks very good English - handy for those of us with limited Spanish.

The hostel is located approximately 2 km from Central Santa Marta. It is a quiet residential area, perfect for those people that aren't into the huge party hostel scene. It is located a few blocks off Avenida Liberadator, along which the buses for the coast (Tayrona Nat Park, Palomino etc) and the airport can be easily caught. There is a small store two blocks away, and a large supermarket about a 10 min walk away. A small, but nice breakfast is served, and there is good wi fi, although it isn't very strong upstairs where the rooms are. The kitchen is small, but reasonably equipped. There is a nice courtyard, and laundry service is offered for 10,000 pesos. So, this hostel ticks most of the boxes. However, you need to be aware that there is no air conditioning. And Santa Marta is hot hot hot. I was in a small single room upstairs, and even with two fans going, it was the equivalent of a small oven! I stayed for 3 nights. I managed for the first two, but was a bit unwell on the third, and ended up having to completely wet my towel and drape it over me to try and cool down enough to sleep. But, if you can deal with the heat, this hostel is a good deal.

We stayed here for a night on our way to Parque Tayrona and loved the place! We came back for another night on the way back. It has a really chilled out atmosphere and feels more like a home than a hostel. Lisandro, the owner, is extremely helpful, and took the time to help us out when we were having problems booking flights. He's got great recommendations for things to do in the area and places in Santa Marta. A really good breakfast was included and there's a little garden out the back with hammocks to chill out in. A few blocks away are a pizza place, ice-cream place & general amenities (banks, shops etc). It's clean and excellent value.

Located close to the center this hostel is the perfect place to relex und to enjoy the great service of the argentinian owner Lisandro, who does everything that you feel like home!tidy and nice rooms, a pool and a big living room make this hostel a good starting point to go to the parque tayrona or to do the last city track.
When I ever come back to santa marta i definitly will go back, had a really good time there!

I have been staying in Mango Hostal few nights, and it was the best place i've stay during all my trip. For the first time, i didn't feel i had the feeling of traveling a lot, not feeling home, packing and re-packing.... Is it a bit away from the center but totally worth it. Lisandro, the owner knows perfectly Santa Marta and will give you great advice, he won't be afraid to take time for you...
The breakfast it's super delicious and you can also enjoy great juices from the mangoes' tree!
A great stay, super clean, great atmosphere, beautiful house, all you can need to enjoy great vacations in Colombia!!!
I went here alone, and i've met so many persons here! Such a friendly place and you can enjoy as well the silent you need in this beautiful place!

Lisandro and Alejandra are two lovely hosts! They are really friendly and helpful. The place really feels like home! We planned to stay for two days but ended up staying longer! There's a nice, cheap restaurant just close by and there is buses to the city all the time. Great place.

We came here for only one night because of tight schedule but probably have stayed more if we had time.. The owners are very nice & friendly - the kind of people who help you with everything and always do it with a smile..
