Owner description: New Jersey's tallest lighthouse awaits you at Pacific and Rhode Island Avenues in Atlantic City (walking distance from Showboat Casino). Take an amazing journey into time and above it all as you ascend the 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the country. You'll see breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline and up top you'll come face-to-face with the original first-order Fresnel Lens, first lit in 1857.The lighthouse's recent multi-million dollar restoration also includes a stunning replica of the Lightkeeper's dwelling, an educational museum, charming gift shop, Fresnel Lens exhibit in the original Oil House and expansive grounds. The Absecon Lighthouse is on both the New Jersey and National Registries of Historic Places.

My family and I went to visit the lighthouse. We were able to climb up to the top. It took a while with two 4 years old and carrying 2 babies but we survived. It will definitely wind you if you are not in shape. I know the gentleman at the top gave history but I was trying to keep my two kids quiet and entertained so I didn't get to hear everything.

Both of the staff members we encountered were friendly. They had free parking. And there were bathrooms located in a trailer outside the building.

we walked along the boardwalk until we came upon the lighthouse sign. Decided to check it out. it is located in an area where you wouldn't think something like this would not be. Once you get in you are greeted by very knowledgeable volunteers. the main floor gets you information of the lighthouse and all of the history. next you pay a small fee to climb the stairs. awesome trip up. 238 steps but there are landing areas to rest. once we got to the top, Buddy greeted us. Buddy had all of the information about the lighthouse. He was an exceptional host. Not sure how old Buddy is but he handled the climb better than me.

This light house just didn't seem to belong. Instead of using it find your way it was like it needed to find its way. Just looked at it. Wasn't open when we came by.

Well mantained lighthouse. Nice break from the boardwalk and casinos. Free parking lot. Restrooms on site.

We enjoyed the lighthouse but there are too many steps for older, out of shape visitors. The history of the lighthouse is very interesting.
