Atlantic City Aquarium Historic Gardner's Basin

This is a 3 floor aquarium (top floor has no animals, it's a look out). $8 for an adult, so for the price I think it was worth it. It was raining while we were at Atlantic City, which is why we went. Some interesting fish, lizards and amphibians, as well as touch tanks containing star fish, rainbow sharks(?), and sting rays. No paper towels or hand sanitizer, so bring your own if you plan on touching any animals (though put the sanitizer on last as to not contaminate the water in the touch tanks). I would say the whole place takes about thirty minutes to tour. Has a few kiosks outside for shopping, 3 bars/restaurants and a nice view. Free parking.

We went on the Dolphin watch which was nice. The boat wasn't overpacked and we actually did get to see some dolphins. The captain was pleasant and insightful. The actual aquarium was a disappointment. I mean the price of the tickets should have given me a better clue that there wasn't much to see. All the creatures and exhibits were nothing great. They did have the biggest sea turtle I've ever seen and I've been to 8 other aquariums. He alone was worth the price of admission. We were in and out in under 30mins and that was after repeating a couple of the stations. Not bad, just won't ever return...no reason to.

The Historic Gardner's Basin is a nice part of Atlantic city. You can take boat excursions from here( we wanted to but ran out of time), visit the aquarium (1/2 day or less, very interesting) or visit one of several nice eateries. We had an enjoyable meal at Back Bay Ale House and another breakfast restaurant was highly recommended to us, but we didn't make it there. The north end of the boardwalk is very near and you can quietly walk or fish there. We rented bikes at the bike rental shop for a 24 hour period. Took an evening ride on a nice biking/walking trail in another part of AC, then rode the boardwalk the next day. Nice bikes and well priced.

I visited this aquarium on june 17,2014..while it is small it has plenty to see , they have touch tanks for rays, small sharks.also ray feedings .The 3rd floor is the obversation deck with beautiful views of the marina, ocean beaches.they also have little houses thst sell crafts etc they have food for youto buy.For 8 dollars it well worth it the jittneys will get you there or you can drive. One more thing if you go on their website you can get a coupon for a $1.00 off.

We were in AC earlier this week and after spending the first couple of afternoons on the boardwalk/beach, where temps were in the low- to mid-90s and the sun was scorching, we decided to head over to the Aquarium the third afternoon instead. It was a quick drive from our hotel (the Showboat) and was easy to find. There was plenty of free parking too, which was nice.

The aquarium features several touch tanks which gave the kids the opportunity to touch sea stars, some type of shark, sting rays, and some other creatures. They really loved this! The other displays featured various fresh water and ocean fish. I loved the jelly fish tank. We toured the 3-level facility in just over an hour.

The kids did mention that they liked the aquarium in Baltimore better but I quickly set them straight - the aquarium in Baltimore is much bigger, with much more to see and do, but it also costs five times as much to get into and they wouldn't have had as much time to take everything in because the Baltimore aquarium is so much busier. After that, they agreed that the AC Aquarium being small wasn't such a bad thing after all.

It was perfect for the cost of admission and was a great way to spend an afternoon, getting out of the sun and away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk. I would definitely recommend this for families with children!
