We stayed here in October 2013 for the Atlantic City Marathon and wanted a hotel that was cheap and convenient. If you're looking for a modern and luxurious hotel, you'll be disappointed. However, if you want a basic room, bed, shower, and breakfast, this property fits the bill. It's not located in a particularly great part of town, although it's only a few blocks away from some nicer hotels along the boardwalk. The area looks a little sketchy, and there are several abandoned buildings in the vicinity of the hotel. There is a Catholic church directly across the street.
Our room was average: Standard bed, television, and bathroom. No real amenities, but we did have a refrigerator in our room, which was a nice surprise. Having traveled here for the marathon, it was nice to have a way to keep our Gatorade cold. The bed was comfortable enough, but I would be lying if I said I felt that the hotel room was spotless. We brought some sleeping sacks with us that we use when we stay at a hotel of questionable cleanliness, just to be extra careful.
Breakfast was surprisingly good when compared to what I was expecting. There was hot coffee, pastries, and even a waffle maker. Hard boiled eggs were kept in a refrigerator, but we stayed away from those because we weren't sure exactly when they were made. I would say the quality of the breakfast is definitely better than that of the room. The breakfast area is in a separate room, which requires your room key to enter.
The hotel staff was friendly. Housekeeping was very nice and polite. The front desk employees were nice as well. Don't expect pampering here, but you're getting what you pay for. You're within easy walking distance of the boardwalk and all of the major casinos in the area.
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay and don't want to spend a lot of money. If you are willing to splurge a little, you can definitely find a better room. But if you're on a tight budget and want to spend some time in Atlantic City, this room may fit the bill. Just remember you're not staying at a 5 star hotel.
A few notes about the property: There was a weird musty, mildewy smell in our rooms. I think it may have to do with being close to the ocean, but I'm not sure. The decor is pretty dated, and the condition of the property could definitely use some refreshing and updating. There is limited covered parking next to the office, and a decent sized overflow lot behind the property. Be sure you get a parking tag from the front desk to hang in your car. As we were packing up to leave, I did notice a single cockroach crawling on the floor. Glad we were leaving.
