Best Western Envoy Inn
Ranked #12 of 49 Hotels in Atlantic City
Reviewed 15 November 2013

We stayed here in October 2013 for the Atlantic City Marathon and wanted a hotel that was cheap and convenient. If you're looking for a modern and luxurious hotel, you'll be disappointed. However, if you want a basic room, bed, shower, and breakfast, this property fits the bill. It's not located in a particularly great part of town, although it's only a few blocks away from some nicer hotels along the boardwalk. The area looks a little sketchy, and there are several abandoned buildings in the vicinity of the hotel. There is a Catholic church directly across the street.

Our room was average: Standard bed, television, and bathroom. No real amenities, but we did have a refrigerator in our room, which was a nice surprise. Having traveled here for the marathon, it was nice to have a way to keep our Gatorade cold. The bed was comfortable enough, but I would be lying if I said I felt that the hotel room was spotless. We brought some sleeping sacks with us that we use when we stay at a hotel of questionable cleanliness, just to be extra careful.

Breakfast was surprisingly good when compared to what I was expecting. There was hot coffee, pastries, and even a waffle maker. Hard boiled eggs were kept in a refrigerator, but we stayed away from those because we weren't sure exactly when they were made. I would say the quality of the breakfast is definitely better than that of the room. The breakfast area is in a separate room, which requires your room key to enter.

The hotel staff was friendly. Housekeeping was very nice and polite. The front desk employees were nice as well. Don't expect pampering here, but you're getting what you pay for. You're within easy walking distance of the boardwalk and all of the major casinos in the area.

I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay and don't want to spend a lot of money. If you are willing to splurge a little, you can definitely find a better room. But if you're on a tight budget and want to spend some time in Atlantic City, this room may fit the bill. Just remember you're not staying at a 5 star hotel.

A few notes about the property: There was a weird musty, mildewy smell in our rooms. I think it may have to do with being close to the ocean, but I'm not sure. The decor is pretty dated, and the condition of the property could definitely use some refreshing and updating. There is limited covered parking next to the office, and a decent sized overflow lot behind the property. Be sure you get a parking tag from the front desk to hang in your car. As we were packing up to leave, I did notice a single cockroach crawling on the floor. Glad we were leaving.

Place was okay but the desk was often abandoned...neighbor was not great and that left me feeling somewhat exposed. Breakfast was pretty good, room was basically clean in a bit dull and lifeless. Decor was more than uninspired. I will not be staying there again.

We booked early when we stayed at the Best Western Envoy during our trip to Atlantic City for the marathon. If you've never been in AC, be warned, the city needs a lot of TLC. The location of the hotel was perfect for our marathon and the staff were really accomidating. The two biggest issues were (1) some of our rooms smelled, were stuffy, and slightly dingy with low lighting (we had a big group and one of ouf the five rooms had none of these problems) (2) the breafast room was too small to accomidate all the guest (we got there early and luckily had a table) and there was no fruit of any kind (juice doesn't count). They also didn't seem to order enough food for the number of guests that would be staying at the hotel for the weekend (a number they had in advance) All the staff were amazingly helpful, trying to go out of their way everytime we requested something (more food at the breakfast, towels, late check-out, etc). They did all they could within their power to help us. For the price we paid (since we booked so early we got a great deal) it was worth it (<$120 for the night).

The hotel and it's staff are great for the price. Room was clean and we felt well taken care of by the staff who was very friendly and helpful when we had questions. The neighborhood itself isn't great, but we never felt threatened or anything. It's just not the glam area of AC. . .Anyway, I would stay here again!

This hotel was extremely accomodating to the customer who is a handicapped individal. They went above and beyond, both in terms of the desk and room staff, and in terms of the restaraunt wait staff. We were extremely impressed and would gladly recommend this Hotel. I am the caregiver for the individual in question and she was travelling with the assistance of a companion.

79$ for a friday night stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. No complaints here. Hotel located right in the middle of the casino strip so it is easy to navigate one direction or the other to find something to do.
