“Not a 5 stars hotel”
Reviewed 6 October 2011

This hotel is located on the coast just in front of the sea, so if your room is on the side of the sea you'll enjoy a very nice view. The rooms are rather big but not insonorized: you can hear everything from the other rooms. The forniture is rather oldish. Parking is available but not for free, as you would expect from this kind of hotel. The internet wifi connection is definitely too expensive, but if your room is on the side of the sea you can try to connect to the free wifi network of Opatjia. Breakfast is good, with a selection of both salty and sweet food. The staff is very kind. The SPA is nice and the swimming pool too.

We had a marvelous suite overlooking the sea, so much more than I expected looking at the outside upon arrival! Not a 5 star, but very nice, clean, spacious room, friendly staff, great massage, practically empty pool, and a 12 km sea walkway to travel between neighbor towns. Steps away from all the Opatija restaurants and shops....we plan to return--Istria is well worth exploring! You purchase internet connection by the hour; my teens found best connectivity in lobby....

pretty ugly form the outside, lobby and the restaurant are nice. Rooms...some have been renovated, some haven't. The trick with the parking is stupid...even if you park in their own garage, they charge you big money which, from my point, should be included in the price.
Staff depands..."old school" most of them, though a bit tired I guess.
Room service used to be 3 euros but lately is 6 (just to bring breakfast up few floors!?!) At the bar slow and not really friendly. Nice location and wiev, but still far from 5 stars hotel!

We had a 7th floor sea view room which was fantastic. ( We did have to pay extra for this privilage.) The rooms are spacious and kept so clean. The view was great, overlooking the little harbour.
The buffett breakfast and evening meal had so much choice and was excellent.
There was only one thing that didn't come up to scratch and that was the front of hotel staff. They were not very helpful with any queries we had.
The hotel was a little bit out of the main town, so would take about 20 minutes to walk there, and was a little bit quiet in the evenings - with one exception. Saturday night was very noisy. A little bar a few yards away from the hotel on the sea front started live music at about 10pm and went on until 2am. Then another bar a bit further away, but still audible even with the balcony doors shut , had loud music until 5am. No sleep that night!!!
Overall though an excellent hotel.

We always have a problem in finding hotel accomodation with two kids which are still not big enough to be alone in the room. In Ambasador we got spacious apartment, although initialy we were offered by one room and option that younger shild will sleep with us. On the spot, when we arived it has been changed an we got appartment for the same price. That was nice for begining of our mini vacation ;-). Well, looking at other reviews.... one may argue is it a 5 star, but the question is: in comarison to what? For Croatia I would say yes, compared to some other countries were we have been in 5 star, definitely it is not... I would agree with guests that comment parking - it is unconvinient and at least hotel parking and garage shall be included in price. We took hotel parking at Villa ambasador that costs 55 kn per day. Also, the sound isolation is terrible, we were able to hear every word of our neighbours.

We came for 3 day of relax. In 5 star hotel you have to pay the parking?! they said that is community parking and once when we forgot to extend parking ticket for 1 hour, we took the penalty which was was written by the hotel group, so the front man of their hotel give penalities to their guests...this is really amazing. The room was old stylish, nothing renewed since the socialist time. Ok, the wellness is new, but the staff is not trained enough, a young woman almost broke me a neck during my massage, next day I had really problems. This is really not a 5 star hotel, this is 3 star hotel!
