Stayed at this fabulous hotel for 10 days in July. This has to be the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The position and the food is perfect .Our stay was made all the better by the outstanding service we received from two special waiters,Tomislav and Azur. I stayed along with my wife and we would recommend this hotel to anyone. The Croatian people would love more English people to visit their Country, I would say they are justified in this wish. A truly beautiful Country.

Hotel Miramar is one of our highlights of our trip to Croatia. The moment we saw this hotel we were captured by its beauty.

The Miramar Hotel  just cuddles the romantic  Mediterranean Sea with  open  arms which immediately placed us in holiday mode.

Staff -All were very welcoming & friendly

Room - Our room 427 we booked was a deluxe sea view room with balcony. It was very spacious & the bathroom blue & white tiles were very appealing.

However:: regardless how much we loved this hotel we had the worst night sleep ever due to the most uncomfortable bed which was so hard & the pillows far too soft,.

Restaurants - We had booked half board which meant our hotel rate included dinner &
breakfast.

Our dinner was your typical buffet meal which was just okay however we did have a full
moon shining over the sea & with Mario singing beautiful songs;  the food didn't really  matter as the atmosphere was very romantic.

Facilities - All we wanted to do was have a swim in the sea & having the priviledge to walk down from our room to the edge of the sea with little steps into the depths was delightful

There is also an outdoor pool & indoor pool with a beaut outdoor deck area for sunbacking.

However' the best aspects is being able to just hop onto the The Lungomare seaside promenade which  passes in front of the hotel & takes approx 15mins walk into i town which also takes you along the foreshores. The walk takes in the breathtaking scenery of Opatija & also the observation of the locals enjoying playing in the sun.

Overall: we loved this hotel although the bed was uncomfortable we will hopefully return one day as we also loved Croatia. Although not a glamour 5 star hotel it certainly has enormous charm.

My wife and I have recently returned from a week's holiday at Hotel Miramar and have nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff.

The hotel and its grounds are absolutely immaculate and nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff. The food at both breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious and plentiful and the spa and leisure facilities were first class.

This was our fifth holiday in Croatia but our first time in Opatija, which is a lovely resort. Should we ever return to Opatija (which we most certainly will), we will definitely stay at Hotel Miramar.

The hotel is one of the best, and may be the best in the area. Austrian management, great food, excellent organization. Rooms are spacious and cosy but not very new. Every dinner in the hotel is amazing- you can choose from the list of dishes and everything will be delicious, moreover, the waiter will propose you more, if you liked the dish. The hotel is like a small country- has everything you need, they use the space very efficiently. Miramar also has SPA, which offers lots of relaxing programs, but book your massage or spa program in advance- SPA is very popular there!
The beach is very small, but the pool has see water. Miramar has also goon saunas, I recommend you to visit them( one small feature- everybody will be naked there due to nordic traditions).
This hotel is preferred by german or austrian tourists.

Nice hotel directly above the see with several houses. Take the one directly on the seaside that is probably the reason you go there. We had a suite, nice, clean, big one, but it was November and it was rather cold inside because the radiators were closed when we came. And Good knows how long were they closed before we came. A bed was actually two single mattress put together, but not even connected with a sheet. This is definitely not the best item in the hotel. Beds are small and hard.
There is very pleasant staff, all speaking German pretty well, pool area is totally clean, dinner is OK, choice is adjusted to everyone and food tastes well. Very tasty were backed paprika at the salad buffet.

From the moment you enter the reception area you realise this isn't your averarge package holiday hotel.
We had a magical time here. All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
When we were there our fellow guests were probably 95% German and we were made to feel more than welcome by everyone.
Special mention should be made of all the activities that the hotel organises, some of which ,such as a tour of the town, are free of charge. Others like there boat excursions are great value for money and brings together a comaradary between the hotel guests.
The food as been mentioned by all the reviewers and it truely is exceptional.
On the contrary to other reviews our room was both spacious and well decorated /furnished. We even had two balconies one on either side of the room.
Other than a local wedding we were never disturbed at night, if anything the whole place seemed to close down by about 11pm.
Don't go if you like wearing flip flops and either no shirt or a football top for dinner ,you won't fit in. Short sleeved shirt and casual slacks seem to be the order of the night. Which suited us just fine.
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough but the walking and steps won't be to everyones choice.

The Miramar is a wonderful hotel in a quiet seaside location, with marvellous food and very friendly and helpful staff.

The facilities are extensive, with a good size indoor/outdoor pool and sauna, a gym and plenty of sun beds in different places around the grounds. There is strong promotion of various “wellbeing” activities, some of which are free, but the specialist treatments are quite expensive. The “private beach” is a small rocky area reached from the hotel grounds, where there are sun beds and access to a roped-off sea bathing area.

The hotel is mainly aimed at adult guests, most of whom were well into the 50+ group at the time of our visit (mid-September).

The Lungomare seaside promenade passes in front of the hotel; it takes you into the town centre in about 20 minutes, and carries on for around six miles to Lovran. The walk is well worth doing and would take under two hours non stop, or as long as you like lingering at the shady benches and bars en route. You can also get to the pretty harbour village of Volosko in about ten minutes in the other direction from the hotel.

The rooms are set out in five blocks, with the most expensive in the old building directly on the sea, and the others set out beside and around it. Because the hotel is set into the hillside there are quite a few steps - something not mentioned in some brochures.

The hotel’s best feature is the restaurant, which has a magnificent sea view. Breakfast has generous hours and a wide range of hot and cold food. Dinner is served from 6 pm and if you want a seat on the main terrace, be there by 6.15 latest (or after eight, when seaside diners start to leave). This isn’t really a problem, though, as the remainder of the restaurant is beautifully furnished, with plenty of cozy areas to sit in. The terrace and interior restaurant are all non-smoking.

Dinner consists of four waiter-served courses, all with choices, plus a salad bar and a wide selection of cheese, breads and grapes. Everything was of superb quality, and service was leisurely, giving plenty of time to enjoy your meal.

Our only disappointment was our room - if you pay for de luxe, don’t expect extra comfort.

What we got was a large room with a nice bathroom and a good sea view, but it was sparsely fitted with cheap chipboard furniture, plus a small basic couch and chair. The “double bed” was two singles loosely pushed together, with single duvets which just had a large cover thrown over them. No attempt was made to conceal the ugly coils of wire and extension leads dangling down behind the worktops, and the plain woodblock floor added to the bare and comfortless feel of the room.

The room was certainly spacious and clean, but completely lacked any sense of effort or imagination , which was puzzling in view of the lavish attention to décor in the public parts of the hotel.

So, we would highly recommend the Miramar and definitely would stay there again, but we wouldn’t spend our money on the de luxe supplement.

As a resort, Opatia has lots of charm and is largely free of tacky tourist shops. The only thing it lacks is a beach - you have to go a little way down the coast for that. For marvellous cakes and ice creams, try the Café Wagner’s seaside terrace - opposite the Tourist Information in the town centre.

Visit Opatija soon, before it gets over-developed.
