I understand from one of the local guides that Croatia has had trouble getting back British visitors since the war in 1995. Any visitor would do well to start here at the Miramar. We experienced high standards throughout our stay. The staff were mostly young and very well motivated. The service in the dining room was well co-ordinated and the food excellent. We booked a superior room which meant we had a balcony and a sea view, which I would advise. There was a small area for sunbathing that might draw adverse comment but that is not something that interests us. The coastal promenade, or lungomare runs in front of the hotel and stretches for miles. It is only spolit by the occasional smell of sewerage, a problem that needs to be addressed by the local authorities. This is an area with a fascinating history - go there!
