Great view and a nice walk......go early morning or just before dusk to avoid the heat of the day.
If you pay your taxi driver $10-15 they will wait for you at the base and take you back to your accommodation....most trips in Dili will cost you no more than $2....Worth the $$'s as it is hard ro find a cab once you are out there

“Worth the 578 steps to Cristo Rei”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

This is definitely the place to visit in Dili.
The statue of Jesus is in the most prominent spot with sensational views all around.
Best to do the climb in the morning as it gets so hot and humid later on in the day.
The climb is not a difficult one especially the first 300 of so steps.

“Long climb to good view.”

Good spot for a view of the harbour and town but a lot of stairs to climb. It does give you an appetite so stop off at Beachside hotel and cafe on way back to town.

“A long walk.....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

This walk should only be undertaken early morning or dusk. Dili is very hot and the climb up to the statue is steep. All very "do-able" for the average fit person in the cool. Great views from the top.

“the best attraction in Dili”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013

You cannot say you have been to Dili if you did not climb the steps to the Cristo Rei statue. The effort is well worthy as the view is stunning. Once you are back to Earth, there are many nice and informal places to eat and drink. You will really feel that you are in a tropical paradise!
