“Amazing adventure!”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

I highly recommend booking your trip with Galapagos Alternative. They were able to create an amazing itinerary that was a perfect balance of adventure, sightseeing, and relaxation. Lauren was super prompt with correspondence and tailoring our itinerary to our needs. Liz and Rita were lovely - they were punctual with our meeting times, they took us to all of our transfers (super important because my husband and I don't speak Spanish), checked in on us everyday, and are a wealth of knowledge for dining, culture, and sightseeing.

The naturalist guides and day trip tours that Galapagos Alternative uses are supurb. The guides were professional and knowlegable. Their passion for their land, culture, people, and animals is really evident in their practice.

We stayed 3 nights in Santa Cruz and 3 nights in Isabella (took a boat from Santa Cruz to Isabella and then a plane from Isabella back to Santa Cruz). Those islands are both very different from each other - Santa Cruz having a more small city feel whereas Isabella was more rustic and authentic. They are a nice complement to each other.

We stayed at Mainao Inn in Santa Cruz and Casa de la Marita in Isabella - both lovely accommadations with attentive service and great locations and good breakfasts.

We loved the activities that were planned for us especially the opportunity to swim and snorkle with white tipped sharks!

I highly recommend Galapagos Alternative for your trip to the Galapagos. It is the only way to go!

Thank you Galapagos Alternative! Thank you for the trip of a lifetime!

Useful Tips:
-bring small bills for taxi services, meals, and tipping your guide
-bring a reusable water bottle
-it is worth it to spend a little extra on a wetsuit rental as the water in Galapagos in October was very cold
- I would recommend at least one way plane ride between islands (ie Isabella and Santa Cruz) as the water was very rough (we were warned in advance)
-bring light layer of clothing or a light windbreaker as the weather is constantly changing
-learn some Spanish! Especially when ordering breakfast ;D
-bring a sense of adventure! Enjoy!

“A Most Excellent Adventure”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

What an awesome adventure. Could not have asked for more. Our guides met us at the Baltras airport and virtually 'held our hands' the entire time we were there. We stayed 2 nights on Santa Cruz and 3 nights on Isabela and all accomodations and daily adventures were taken care of - from Tortuga Bay on Santa Cruz to Concha de Perla on Isabela. The Galapagos Suites on Santa Cruz and the La Casita de la Playa on Isabela were selected by Galapagos Alternative and were not disappointing - clean and beautiful - both were extrememly accomodating. It was an extreme pleasure to have our itenerary entirely mapped out without the hassel of figuring out our own transportation, etc, very relaxed. Everything was taken care of in a professional and courtious fashion. Our Galapagos Alternative "Island-Hopper" representative was there for us every day and in the evening stopped by and reviewed our itenerary for the next day, including suggestions/alternatives of other things we could do throughout the day. Some of our guides went out of their way to spend more time with us and show us additional attractions that they were not scheduled to do - much appreciated. There were never any guesses about what was planned for the next day. What a wonderful feeling. Would not trade this excellent adventure.

“Best trip EVER!!!!!”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Love love LOVED our tour of Galapagos with Galapagos Alternative.

Was great being collected from the airport and escorted to our hotel, our guide was very informative and the tour was really well planned. All contact with Galapagos Alternative was excellent, helpful and very timely unlike the 3 other tour companies I contacted first.

We liked not being confined to a boat and felt at home in the town of Puerto Ayora.

The hotel was lovely and the breakfasts were delicious.

Each day our tour was exciting and everywhere we looked there were beautiful animals.

Nothing will top this trip for us, cannot recommend it enough!!!!
I was truly heartbroken to leave Galapagos, my new favourite place on earth.

“Galapagos Alternative Tours - Great”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

I found Galapagos Alternative Tours after other tour operators were unable to accommodate me and my family or they were unable to provide for our limited schedule. Galapagos Alternative Tours had no such problems. After giving them a brief idea of what we wanted to experience and the length of our trip they quickly came back with a proposed itinerary at a vey reasonable rate. Galapagos Alternative booked us into the ideal hotel on Santa Cruz - and, with the little background they had on us, they could not have placed us in a better or more suitable hotel. All of their representatives on the islands were informative, charming people who provided us with many insider tips on places to visit, dine and skip. All of their representatives are residents of the islands and therefore they knew all the scoop. The guides they provided were extremely informative and had superb knowledge about anything we saw or questioned. The guides were a complete pleasure.
The tour was perfectly divided between sea trips, island visits, short trips to swimming locations, animal spotting and hiking up the smallish volcano on Bartolome.
I would use the services of Galapagos Alternative Tours whenever I return to those islands.

“Galapagos Alternative Organized a Great Trip”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

Galapagos Alternative is the real deal! This organization provided my 25 yr old son and myself a week of great tours, super luxury accomodations ( Angermeyer Inn - Santa Cruz; Iguana Crossing - Isabella) and wonderful personal attention. All the guides and personnel arrived on time (except for a couple of times on Isabella) and were both friendly and knowledgable. Special credit goes to Liz who met us in town after our flight from Quito and showed up each night to check in on how the day activiites went as well as went over details of the next day schedule. Upon arrival and departure from the Baltra airport, Wilson would run with our bags during the multiple transfers (canal shuttle, airline, busses and taxis) making sure we were the first in line for the shuttle or check in at the airport. On the first day we were given a private tour of the highlands and then were booked with small groups on atractive (even new) ships for day trips to unihabited isalnds. North Seymour as well as Santa Fe were well worth the hour to two hour voyages each way. Blue Footed Boobies and red breasted Frigate birds were in abundance and in the midst of their mating dances. Large land lguanas (near extinction) were out in the open on Santa Fe and displayed absolutely no fear of humans. Although the visability of the snorkeling was limited (10 - 20 ft) the presence of marine life was in abundance. Marine iguanas, sea lions, sea turtles, white tipped sharks, and various rays ( eagle, spotted, golden) were seen. It was a thrill and humerous) to snorkel with the sea lions that would dart in and out and play with us while snorkeling. Kayaking at Tortuga Bay allowed us to cruise over a manta ray as well as white tipped sharks. The close interaction with marine, reptile, and bird.life was mind bogling.

Galapagos Alternaitve is a real option for planning any land tour of the Galapagos.
