This is a nice choice to enjoy the local food of Equador. The local drinks are really nummy! If you like seafood, you will not be disappointed.

The rock is a nice young bar near the port. It offers happy hours every day and the drinks are very good. But we didn't eat here and the menu wasn't that differenciated.

We went here once while we stayed on Santa Cruz. To be honest, the food was alright. I got the grilled eggplant sandwich, which was okay but I was surprised when it came with eggplant that had been grilled and then refrigerated. I wasn't expecting a cold sandwich, and it was so salty it was barely palatable. My boyfriend ordered something that I think was called the pelican salad, which was some seafood spread on top of iceberg lettuce only, no other greens (on a side note, we were sitting outside and we were told we had to move inside because of the salad. No one could explain why in English so we are still wondering.). We were hoping for better quality ingredients after paying as much as the food costs. The best thing we ordered was a guanabana juice.

How this place has so many good reviews is beyond comprehension. People writing the good reviews must be mainly for the bar scene only. Honestly, the food was terrible. This Rock needs tossed to the sea. We ordered the Panini sandwich and a Tuna steak dinner. The Panini was not grilled and had canned mushrooms on it. See picture. The tuna was to be fresh as it was caught the morning. No way. It tasted like they first laid it out in the sun to dry, then they put in the oven to bake it, then they fried it till it had no moisture what so ever, and then smeared some sauce on it - I believe all to disguise that it was about as fresh as the canned mushrooms. See picture. Tuna jerky is what they sold me. We asked about the Panini not being grilled like the picture showed and the answer was those were just random pictures they found, they had no correlation to the food! They say free wifi, but it really did not work, more frustration than worth the effort to try and keep a connection. Catchy name, ambience, and location, but do yourself a favor if you want real food, go elsewhere - there are plenty of great places to eat within a few blocks of this rock!. This is one restaurant I regret trusting the Tripadvisor Award of Excellence on its door. TA needs to take it back! PLEASE!!

This place caught our eye when we first arrived to the island. The upside down neon sign and their happy hour promotions made it seem like a fun spot. They have a very large menu and tout their food as "fit for foodies" but it's not quite that good. They had some unusual dishes that were very good which makes this place worth a visit. Casual but good.
