Mi Caleta Inn

Mi Caleta Inn is better then home in so many ways... I experienced the peace and privacy I enjoy, as well as the warmth and kindness of Rodrigo and his wonderful wife Esther. They were incredibly helpful in finding me great day tours to explore the neighboring islands, gave wonderful advise on the area, and had in-depth knowledge on Galapagos and Ecuador to share. The location is so convenient to walk to the beach and the Darwin Station, as well as local stores and restaurants; yet it is in a quiet neighborhood away from the bustle of the town. I hope and look forward to returning someday... Thanks so much Rod and Esther!

A group of friends from study abroad and myself recently took a trip to the Galapagos. Mi Caleta Inn was an awesome place to cal home during our time there. We had the whole downstairs to ourselves. There was a large kitchen/dining room where we were able to cook "family" meals and avoid the costly restaurants on the island. With TV and A/C in the rooms, the nights were very comfortable in the humid climate of the Galapagos. This place is tucked away a little bit inland in a nice neighborhood, and if the walk is too much for you (its not bad), taxis are $1 anywhere on in Puerto Ayora. I highly recommend those staying on Santa Cruz check this place out. It is definitely VALE LA PENA!

Room Tip: Bring at least 5 friends and rent out the whole bottom floor.

My daughter and I stayed at the Mi Caleta Inn in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz island in the Galapagos. We had a little kitchen with table and separate bedrooms. We had a front porch looking onto the garden. This place is one third the price of the hotels. The Inn is located just on the edge of town in a quiet neighborhood very near the Darwin Center. You walk past the basketball court and pocket park to get there. I am not a water person and wasn't interested in being on a boat everyday and night with the same people to experience the Galapagos. We did a one-day boat tour which was great. Other than that, we took a taxi tour of the lucsious Highlands to see the indiginous huge turtoises, how sugar cane was made into rum, the lava caves, coffee farms etc. Most islands are desert vegetation but Santa Cruz has all the vegetative areas combined on one island. The owner, Rod, of MiCaleta Inn spoke perfect English, is president of the Tourist bureau, helped us set up every experience. We hiked, biked, snorkeled, kayaked. The town is so unpretentious, made up of really sweet, kind local people. I would highly recommend Mi Caleta Inn.

We stayed three nights in Mi Caleta Inn and it was great. Rod is a friendly host who explains everything about the island and plan great tours. There is no need to organize anything, because Rod manage all for you. The transfer from the airport ist very easy and the day tours perfect. We slept very well in the nice quiet room and love our stay. If you want to feel like at home and you want to have nice days on the islands go to Mi Caleta Inn.

Beautiful, serene compound in a quiet neighborhood that is steps away from anything you might need, as well as a very short walk from the main tourist areas. From the enthusiastic Zumba class in the park every evening to the local bakery, you can see the way the locals live as well as enjoy the restaurants and local attractions. A fun neighborhood for walking, easy access to taxis, and a peaceful retreat when you just want to relax. The quiet rooms, courtyard, and lovely sitting room all contribute to the ambiance.

I stayed at Mi Caleta with a large group (~10) of scientists, and it was great to have the kitchen and living room available to get together and talk, but also to have private bedrooms to retreat to! The bedrooms were large and clean with comfortable beds. A nice quiet neighborhood and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again!

In a quiet neighborhood, with spacious and comfortable accommodation. The full kitchen is a great plus. Ideal for families or for groups.
