“A very nice hotel in Puerto Ayora”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

The hotel is a cosy nice place just by the main "downtown", a short ten minute walk to the docks. Our room was on the second floor, a quiet corner of the property- very clean and lots of natural light. The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering assistance whenever needed. The restaurant on site was very good also, not expensive and a great variety of dishes. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: upper rooms are quiet- no TV but who wants one in such an place

My friends and I stayed at this hotel before proceeding to Galapagos. Our agent booked for a double bed room, but we were given two tiny rooms with bunk beds and our friends room air-conditioning was not working and yet the Receptionist and a man she brought with her insisted it was working!! We called our agent to clarify with the hotel, and we had to sleep for one night in those tiny bunk beds (my friends were moved to someone else room for the night) The next day we moved to a bigger room, unfortunately found some cockroaches in the bathroom! Breakfast was ok, and the food at the restaurant was much better than the other restaurants. My husband had some food poisoning from one of the fish restaurant. Fortunately that afternoon the Receptionist on duty spoke English well and was able to help us call a Dr. The other Receptionist
hardly spoke English and were not very helpful. Tiny swimming pool, its ok, but would advise Management to check their 1. on their staff, 2. check on their rooms, air-conditioning, 3. insects..etc..as I said, it must had been one of those bad days for us..part of out adventure!

This is a nice little hotel with a small swimming pool and nice and clean rooms. Bathroom is a little but adequate. Location is not prime but prime is double the price. I saw today another little hotel just q couple of houses down, ( didn't check the rooms) for half the price, so don't book far Advance and book only for one or two nights and shop around - u are sure to get a better deal.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are similar, it get one opposite the pool.

Our family of five adults stayed in two rooms for seven nights at this wonderful property. Our day tours were arranged through the hotel by the tour company with which they are partnered. All tours were set prior to our arrival.

Our package included transportation to/from the airport, tours and meals. From start to finish, every activity was without fault. Everyone was on time. Everyone was professional and friendly throughout our trip. We loved every minute of every daily excursion. We looked forward to relaxing at the little bar before dinner each evening. The food was consistently good, including the options for our vegetarians. We spent time at the pool on two occasions and enjoyed the pretty area for reading and having some drinks. The rooms are not fancy and yes, as other reviewers have said, the bathrooms are small. But the beds were comfortable and you have everything you need.

The hotel is in a perfect location with easy walking distances to all the shops, restaurants and docks. We visited three other hotels we'd read about (but were more expensive) and we all agreed we wouldn't want to trade up!

This hotel has a super restaurant with great food at good prices. They turned the a/c on just for us as we were the only ones there for lunch! Very friendly staff and s nice atmosphere away from the heat and humidity. Nice gardens outside and very close to the Darwin Center.

Room Tip: The hotel has all good rooms.

We had a very night 3 night stay at Hotel Silberstein. The ladies behind the desk were always friendly and helpful. The room was adequate, no television, but it's the Galapagos and we weren't there to watch tv. The pool looked nice, but we never ventured in. The food at the restaurant was not particularly good, but we did appreciate having a bar on property for a few drinks before or after dinner. All-in-all, a nice enough hotel for the Galapagos - it's not going to a luxury stay, but it's safe, clean and friendly. That's all we needed.

Let's start by saying that a trip to Galapagos, will never bring the same comfort level you have in a luxury 5 star hotel in any beach resort you mught be used to.
Having said that, Silberstrain is a great accomodation for visiting the islands. Our room was clean and big enough. We had dinner a couple of times in the hotel Restaurant, and it was more than good, and value for money. Staff was friendly and helped us organize out tours and visit the other island, giving us suggestions on routes and helping book our excursion.
Although I would recommend you tour the islands in a boat/cruise, I am very keen to suggest the Silberstain when you stop in Puerto Ayora.
