We stayed here a total of three nites. Even came back for the last one after a ship cruise. The owner is super helpfull, rooms are spacious and clean, good showers. Reasonable breakfast for $3,- p.p. Very good value for your money alltogether!

We stayed here for two nights after a 5-day cruise. It was really easy to walk from here to Tortuga Bay and the little mangrove sanctuary - worth the 15 minute walk or so if you have time to kill.

The location is great - it's nice to be off of the main street, but very close to walk. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were huge and the bathroom was clean and nice. Hot water was a little spotty, but usually good.

My only complaint about this place is that you had to have a hotel employee open the main entrance gate to access the complimentary filtered water to refill our water bottles. It wasn't a big deal as they were usually around, but when we got up and went out early, we just bought water rather than disturbing them.

The main issue as others have noted is the traffic noise. This budget hotel is located just two blocks from the main shopping/restaurant area but somehow is on the corner where it seems all the local traffic is turning so there is constant noise. I had my window open - then I shut it and the noise was exactly the same. So there is not much you can do to drown out the noise aside from earplugs. The rooms are very clean and there are individual AC units in each room so you can control the temperature. The wifi signal worked in my room which was nice instead of having to go to a common area. My room number 2 did face the main road which was noisy. There were a few other rooms in the back that might have been quieter. Also just a mention that the rooms are on the 2nd floor and up a flight of stairs (in case of mobility issues).

Room Tip: avoid room 2 near facing the street

Hostal Germania is a budget hotel located two blocks from the main Puerto Ayora pier. This place is one block away from the path that takes you to Puerto Ayora main attraction: Tortuga Bay. The rooms are nice and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is courteous and will answer any questions you have regarding tours to other islands. They offer breakfasts starting at $3 dollars. This place is also one block from the calle de los kioskos, a famous street where you can find cheap good food in Puerto Ayora. The only problem you may face is that this place is located in a busy street, and traffic will wake you up early in the morning.Other than that, this is a good place where you can start exploring the Islands.

Room Tip: One room away from the main road if possible

The rooms in this guesthouse are lovely and clean with air con. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and soaps laid out.
The man who owns and runs the guesthouse is lovely and he is very helpful. He arranged our ferry crossings to Isabel island and San Cristobal and he even waled us to the ferry at 6.45 am to make sure we were okay.
A free breakfast is included in the price of the room from 7 am to 8 am. It was very tasty and a great way to start the day.
The location is only a few blocks away from the supermarket in one direction and Av Charles Binford in another where lots of delicious food is available from 6pm.
If we ever make it back to Santa Cruz we will be looking forward to staying here again.

While the island is beautiful, I told the owner Rafael that he was the best part of our stay in the Islands. Without his assistance, our trip would have been a complete dud. He was friendly, helpful, patient, and funny. The hostel is well located, clean, and our room was especially spacious (#2). A nice light breakfast was included each morning. While we mostly interacted with Rafael, we did meet other family members all of whom were friendly and helpful. Our kids are early twentysomethings and enjoyed having wifi service. If we ever are lucky enough to return to the Islands, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The location and assistance from Rafael meant eveything for our stay.

Room Tip: room # 2, second floor-very spacious. while on a noisy street corner we all slept well. one of us di...

The rooms are noisy but the location right by a road makes it very noisy. There was noise from neighbours, dogs and traffic all day long and from early in the morning. It's a 2 minute walk down to the harbour though so the location is good in that sense.

The rooms are quite big and there's free wifi. The free breakfast isn't great - a fried egg, a piece of bread, a cup of water to make some instant coffee and a fruit juice. The owners, however, are nice and helpful. I wouldn't stay here again because of the noise but as long as you have earplugs you'll be ok.
