The hotel is all inclusive. There are 2 pools and a bridge that takes you right from the hotel to the beach. Besides the fact the hotel room is spacious and the staff is super friendly I don't think there is a better place to stay in Salinas. The food was decent nothing to brag about. I did go the spa the prices are reasonable but I've had better massages. However do use the sauna & the Turkish bath room. I would definitely go back just for the low cost of everything that is included and the close access to the beach.

Spent a couple of days at the all inclusive Barcelo Miramar in what is considered the off season. The room was ok - comfortable with a great view (they gave us an ocean view even though we were there at a quite low rate). The pools are nice and there are saunas and steam rooms which are nice. The beach is nice in Salinas and the walk along the Malecon is enjoyable. The hotel is within walking distance of most of the businesses and attractions in Salinas. The food was good - most of the meals were enjoyable and there was always a selection of meats, poultry and seafood at both lunch and dinner. Breakfast was excellent. Best coffee we've had in Ecuador! The staff was nice - even if not the warmest we've encountered in Ecuador. We did have a problem when we checked in that they tried to charge a higher rate than we had reserved. It was resolved immediately when we produced our written confirmation. A HUGE plus is their complimentary shuttle service to and from Guayaquil airport (about a two hour drive and as much as $80 each way in a cab). They don't advertise this but they do indeed offer the service with prior arrangement. The building is attractive and in fact Salinas was much nicer than we anticipated. Nice laid back beach town with a southern California climate.

Room Tip: Of course a beach view is great so ask if one is available even if you haven't reserved that typ...

This hotel is billed as the best in Salinas, although from what I could see, that wouldn't be difficult! That said, the accomodation was perfectly fine (deluxe ocean front) and the food perfectly acceptable for buffet. All staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Service was attentive and when someone needed to come to the room to attend the safe deposit box, they arrived within five minutes. Stayed at the hotel during the shoulder season, so not many guests there, but many very noisy children in the 1 - 4 age range making a nice quiet romantic meal well near impossible. In fact, we didn't have one peaceful meal there - not the fault of the hotel, though. Advice - 1. give the bookable a la carte grill a miss - it's not worth the effort. 2. have at least a little Spanish as the serving staff have virtually no English. Food at the buffet was recycled leftovers from time to time, but this was done subtlely and we didn't get sick (unlike Decameron in El Salvador - see separate review). Wine (Chilean) was well above par for this type of hotel and the beer was too (Brazilian export). Overall - recommend!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the deluxe ocean front rooms

AC unit dripped through bathroom ceiling onto floor, food was mediocre but plentiful, pool & pool bar were nice, and the views are incredible. not bad considering the country. Beach access is very good, but the beach has quite a bit of oil from nearby refineries. We traveled to Montanita after this, and really missed these accommodations.

This hotel should not be rated 5 star or even 3 or 4. The building is poorly maintained, looks tired and worn out. Thankfully, the bed was comfortable and the view was great. The food was poor quality, all tasted the same and was served for several meals. In our first room, several things did not work, ie. the remote, the safe. My husband spend a couple hours getting things fixed only to have us move to another room. Then the day before we checked out, we were told we had to move to yet another room because that room was booked. Other than a good night's sleep, this whole experience was bad.

Neither my wife or I speak Spanish. Maybe that was a problem? Not sure. From morning coffee to wine with lunch to afternoon at the bar, it always seemed like we were bothering the wait staff. We are not big drinkers but found it annoying and often gave up and moved on without a drink. The food was decent and restocked buffet often. Never had much luck ordering an omelette as the cook did not seem very interested. There was plenty of different local dishes to try so no problem there. AC, showers and bed were all good. Only complaint about the shower is that if you are more than 5'2" you would not be able to stand under it!
The hotel looks in bad need of paint and general upkeep overall. Walking down the hallway to the room looked very dingy.
The pools seem to be clean and well cared for, never a problem to find a chair on the beach or poolside. If these guys would do a bit of maintenance, renovation and some staff training in how to care for guests needs it could be much better. As it stands it is an average 2 1/2 Star.
