“Let me DRIFT away...”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

We spent 4th of July week at the Drift in a completely remodeled room. The room was everything we could have hoped for and more including microwave, fridge, super comfy bed and a make-up area apart from the bathroom. Beautiful in every detail and Philosophy bath products. Heavenly! We had most of our meals on-site and never wanted/needed a change of menu or venue as everything from the great breakfasts to sushi to burgers at the pool was delish. The staff could not have been more accomodating or friendly. Thanks to all who made our vacation a memorable one. See you next year.

This hotel is located in one of the best beach areas of South Jersey. It is on the beach, and has a pool, several restaurants at the facility, a rooftop sitting area and totally renovated rooms.
The price is way over the top for fun in the sun but worth it if you are visiting your best friend and sisters who live at Jersey shore! They want to come visit you instead of running around visiting them. The new facility is gorgeous and a wonderful location to see Stone Harbour Fourth of July fireworks display! The fireworks are on 81st and the beach.

Room Tip: Ocean view great not as expensive as oceanfront.

The Windrift rennovation is great but it is clear to me that they made a decision to make their money on the adult crowd visiting the restaurants and bars. We had a beach front room which would have been nice if it wasn't for the people literally eating on the terrace right next to our balcony even at 730 in the morning. At night with our sound machines turned up loud you could still hear the loud bass beat of the bands until 2am or so. No kids menu or ability to get room service for the kids at night just adds to my belief that this hotel is not interested in families. The food is so so...Sushi was pretty good other lunch items average. Drinks are expensive but that's a given. It was nice to have pool side service after a long beach day and the staff was great. Cleaning of rooms was just OK. Room was clean when we arrived. I would stay there with the family for a short stay but more than a night or two is pushing it. Another thing is parking if you have more than one car. Be prepared to drive around for ever looking for a space due to the bar crowd. No valet when you check in for your bags. Had to lug the bags up ourselves using the pull carts. For the price, they could at least have a full time baggage guy on staff. A week long stay with five or more would be rough even with the great location and updated ameneties.

Room Tip: get a one bedroom away from the bar.

I just stayed at the Windrift in June and now that they have renovated the rooms, restaurants, foyer etc,, it is even better - They still have a great pool for families and now have renovated the restaurants and have updated the terrific second floor restaurant overlooking the beach. Loved the updates - they also have a sushi chef now and make fresh to order rolls etc, -my 12 year old sushi aficionado loved as well as a great menu for poolside dining as well- reasonable prices too! . I highly recommend this hotel for families - such easy beach access , pool with towels and bar and restaurant service- the variety of dining options on site- 3 restaurants- and we always find the staff so friendly, efficient and helpful .

Room Tip: for quiet sleep ask for a room away from the restaurant/pool area (but you will likely overlook the...

Just checked out yesterday 6/28/13 after spending 5 nights at the resort. The hotel is located right on the beach, 30 second walk to the sand. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel this year, but had lunch at the outside bar and pool, the food was fine. There were no service issues. The room was very clean. It over looked the pool and our maid service was excellent. Cass and her crew could not do enough to make our stay fantastic. We did not eat any dinner at the hotel we choose to sample the restaurants in Avalon and Stone Harbor. Lucciano's in Stone Harbor was outstanding. We needed great italian food and this place has it, great portions. We ate there two nights--outstanding-BYOB-owner's son Joe brought us a appetizer to eat as we waited outside for out table which we had a reservation--AT NO CHARGE . The Diving Horse also a BYOB food was good--but expensive for the portion size. Jay's on Third had excellent food--the pork chop was to die for--also BYOB. We had a health breakfast at Coffee Talk, SH with Joe the health drink expert serving wheat grass shots and health drinks. He is a class act. We can't wait to return next year!! Excellent Hotel Jeff/Robyn

Room Tip: the higher the better.

We stayed here 5 nights recently, were in Stone Harbor for a wedding. This hotel was remodeled in 2012, and we were pleased with our stay. We were in a junior suite, which is a king bed and a sleeper sofa ( which we didn't need, just wanted the suite). Suite included a small dining table, a small frig (not full size, but bigger than dorm size), a bar-size sink, cabinets with a few dishes and silverware, a Keurig coffee brewer. So, if you choose to have breakfast or a sandwich in your room, you can. Bathroom is separate from a mirrored entry area, so husband could shower while I could do makeup and hair drying outside the bathroom. Service was good. Pool jammed all the time, lots of kids. A great covered deck overlooks the ocean, you can eat all three meals there and they have live music much of the time. Overall, a great shore vacation hotel for families- not a romantic place. High prices in high season, though. Location is what you are paying for.

Room Tip: You can only get an ocean-view in high season if you rent Saturday-Saturday. We were here Thursday...

I went to a Wine Dinner event recently and had a wonderful time! The event was on the 3rd floor so the view was beautiful. The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was delicious and they had a wine to match each course, it was great time! I had not been on the 3rd floor since they added the bar, it was so private and the view of the ocean unobstructed. Best seat in the house!
