“Eggs Benedict addiction”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

Sadly is was cool windy day so we could not sit outside - the best part of breakfast at the Marina - have to go at least once a year, waiting too long this time and missed the nice weather to be able to enjoy the kayaks and boats coming and going. Still worth it as the EB's are great - the home fries are the same as ever, and could use some improvement, but didn't dampen our enthusiasm for the main attraction!

“Great value, fresh seafood, amazing portions, spectacular view”
Reviewed 10 August 2012 via mobile

Chef joe can really cook. The freshness of the seafood-both raw bar and cooked cannot be matched. Eating outdoors at the marina is "priceless". The owner (Travis) was kind enough to take time to stop at our table and talk with us. This was our second dinning experience here and the food was amazing as it was the first time. This is a great hidden gem at the marina and worth a visit .

“Breakfast on the Bay!”
Reviewed 25 July 2012

The only place in Avalon to eat waterside. Always enjoy the guilty pleasure of creamed chipped beef on toast here! Nice way to start the day

“Great view with a new management that cares about your experience and gives you food worth coming back for.”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

We tried a Sunday dinner at the new Anchorage after hearing it was under new management. I have eaten breakfast here a few times before, not for the subpar food but for the beautiful bayside view and honestly had never been impressed, much less satisfied. That was until now. After hearing it was under new management and wanting a seafood restaurant in Avalon with an open water view, I was so excited to try the new Anchorage. I can happily say, I'm so glad I did.

Finally, we have an open air seafood place in Avalon with a view of the water from whence it came. It's no secret that Avalon, a seaside vacation retreat, not only lacks quality seaside dining but definitely lacks quality dining overall. With the new Anchorage, I believe we are well on our way.

This restaurant is definitely experiencing growing pains. Only three tables were occupied, our young waitress brought us the wrong soup and forgot to tell us about the specials, but the staff was attentive and courteous. The wrong soup, a rich and flavorful crab bisque, was so delicious that we didn't ask for the clam chowder we had originally ordered (the owner, upon hearing about our mix-up, sent us home with clam chowder take-out, on him). Our whole steamed lobster was perfectly steamed, tender and briny, and priced competitively. We went with the basics, not knowing whether to trust a the broader menu. The take-out clam chowder was some of the best I've ever had, and I'm a clam chowder junkie. It was briny and rich without being floury or extraordinarily creamy with a strong reliance on smoky bacon and tender clams. If nothing else, this soup is worth a drive or long walk up 21st street. Our next visit (there will definitely be a next visit) will include a more varied order. I'm excited to try the short but inclusive menu, raw bar, fried clam strips, sandwiches, specialty pasta, crabs, etc...

Throughout our meal, the service was much more friendly and attentive than I have ever come to expect in Avalon. The owner, Travis, was especially endearing with stories of growing up in Avalon and sharing with us his desire to make this restaurant an Avalon legacy bringing in his family to make this dining establishment "something special". Travis, a successful Avalon realtor, bought this property with plans to build, what else but another waterfront condo, but instead decided that this spot was just too special and made the bold decision to attempt to maintain it's integrity as a marina and beloved restaurant for the public to enjoy.

In short, The Anchorage had always been a breakfast destination mainly for its bayside views, never for it's average food or horrendous service. Now, under new attentive and dedicated management with a focus on delicious and locally sourced seafood, it can now be a waterfront dinner BYO spot that cares about family and good food as well as courteous service in a spot with a view of water to help you remember that Avalon is a beach town, even though it's dining scene is far from the water or from high quality.

We'll definitely be back!

“Great Dining Experience”
Reviewed 13 June 2012

I recently had a great dock-and-dine experience at the Marina at Avalon Anchorage. My boyfriend and I heard that it was under new management, so we decided to check it out. The staff at the marina was friendly and helpful as we pulled up to dock the boat. Breakfast was awesome! I enjoyed “the Lauren” breakfast sandwich consisting of egg whites and turkey sausage on a grain roll. My boyfriend thought the western omelette was fantastic. The portion sizes were generous. The best part of the morning was the opportunity we had to speak with the new owners, Travis and Heather. They have a genuine enthusiasm for the restaurant and the marina! It’s definitely worth your time to go visit, and the views were amazing!
