We have been frequent guests at the Concord for more than 12 years. We love it and will not stay anywhere else. However, I must agree that daytime management tends to be rude, even to repeat and well-behaved guests. During our 2 week stay, we reported a problem with the TV dropping 9 channels {we tested it several times to make sure the problem did exist). We explained the problem to the daytime assistant manager and were treated as if we did not know what we were talking about. This person brushed us off with a rude and snappy reply. Nothing was done to correct the problem while we were there. My husband and I are retirees; we are quiet guests who never complain about anything and were taken back by the rudeness of this person. In our opinion, it was inappropriate and should not be tolerated. Fortunately, the second shift staff at check-in are polite and friendly, and so is Sue the housekeeper on the second floor. These people know us by name because we have stayed at the Concord so often. They go out of their way to make our stays enjoyable.

The check-in was painful. I asked to see my room before I paid in full and I was quoted "company policy." Which was basically, "pay now!" I insisted to see my room first and was quoted "company policy" again. I stood my ground and refused to check in. Only then did they agree to my request. Senior management in this hotel is clearly unaware of a minimum level of customer service and basic respect. The rooms are nice and clean however you must be willing to put up with the crass and deamining treatment from management. I would try the other hotels first.

Our family has stayed at all of the four big hotels in Avalon. Both of the oceanfront hotels we visited last year had their pluses and minuses. One has new room decor but disgusting hallways, the other has a nice new pool, boring room decor and a loud bar crowd. So this year we crossed Dune Drive and gave the inland hotels a try. The Concord Suites will likely be our top choice in the future. It has just been renovated and everything (beds, corian, bathroom, ...) is brand new in a blue and yellow theme. The pools are clean and pretty flowers make the patio area attractive. Having a kitchenette is a big money saver at the Shore. We are a quiet family and didn't mind the stringent rules other reviewers. We actually developed an appreciation for the rules when staying at the hotel directly behind Concord Suites the following weekend and being completely disturbed by a blasting boom box placed on tha chair outside our room and people parked at the few tables from sun-up to the wee hours of the night. The pools at the hotel which will not be named were filthy, although our room was newly redecorated. The other hotel would probably be the better choice for late-night partyers like reality TV's "The Situation". But for folks who like their Shore vacations neat and orderly The Concord Suites are the right situation.

Stayed Fri thru Monday, just two girls in their 40s getting away from mom life in PA. Rooms are very small but clean and everything you need for a few days away. Nice flat screen TV in LR and bedroom. We did trip over each other a bit as there are just two rooms and tiny bathroom. Had one rainy day in which we shopped. Had we been there with kids or more people the place would NOT be big enough. If he had lots of rain and were stuck inside the place would have been claustrophoic. That said, it was again very nice, very clean, everything was new. Bath towels are small, no hand towels, had to ask for extra washcloths for hand/face towels. If they fixed that it would be perfect. Pools were nice and clean, we didn't use them but walked by everyday to the beach which was close by. Not many places to get breakfast, hotel restaurant only serves lunch/dinner. You could bring your own breakfast since frig was nice size. Would stay there again for long weekend. Staff was nice, no problems for us. We don't smoke and we were not up all night partying and making noise .....

We loved the Concord before, but they redid all of the suites this year and it is just beautiful! The decor is homey and the new furniture (including beds) is just so comfortable. This place is not like other shore hotels-- it is extremely clean and they do not allow partying or loud noise, which we appreciate. The renovations included central air, which really makes a difference, and now there are TVs in both the living room and bedroom. It's just too bad there aren't DVD players in both rooms! Also we did not run into problems with rude staff as other reviewers have mentioned, we found everyone pleasant and helpful. We'll be returning!

I first off want to thank the staff at the Concord for being so freindly and helpfull from the office staff which there is someone in the office 24 hours and 7 days a week( thankfully since we locked ourselfs out of our room one night furtunately the guy in the office was able to let us in to our room) to the freindly house keeping staff who were very helpfull efficient and very cheerfull. I stayed with 2 of my freinds a few weeks back on another friends recomendation. when we arrived we were greeted with a smile and checked right in . We arrived at our room to find a totaly new and freshly renovated suite living room bathroom kitchenete and bedroom there were 2 count them 2 flat screen tv's one in the living room and one in the bedroom and a dvd player in the living room also.(free dvds to borrow in the office how sweet is that?) also in the office you could also borrow games comepletely free of charge (great for the rainy days). It was an overall GREAT STAY. I highly reccomend the concord suites to anyone looking for a friendly clean fun place to stay at the jersey shore

We stayed for a long weekend and although the hotel itself was wonderful - spotlessly clean rooms, awesome pools, great outdoor sitting areas with tables, umbrellas, etc, free DVDs at the office and a delicious onsite restaurant - the staff brought our enjoyment and rating way down.

First, let me preface - there was one woman who worked at the front desk (short hair with blue eye shadow, maybe in her 50s, who was incredibly friendly, kind and helpful) and a pool attendant (teenager, very nice) who were great, but the housekeeping staff were grumpy and always seemed annoyed, and the women at the front desk were condescending, rude and short. Our overall impression was that 90% of the staff disliked their jobs as well as the people who patronize the hotel.

It's unfortunate because although we loved the location, room and grounds, the staff completely soured this place for us. Perhaps management could pitch in and help motivate them to make it a better all around experience... then we would reconsider visiting.

Two other notes:

1. When the hotel was recently renovated (which is lovely), the carpet installers left the tacking exposed where the tile meets the carpet and I, as well as a few guests and children, cut my feet on it. Not just a scratch but a deep cut - it's unsafe and uncomfortable when you're going to the beach!

2. Bring beach towels - even fir the pool. They are not provided.
