“What a really genuine place, thanks for a great break!”
Reviewed 22 March 2010

1st ever review, and a bit ashamed i haven't done it sooner, because this place deserves all the praise it's getting. Myself and my wife (7mths pregnant) had a brilliant relaxing week here. Top marks must first go to the staff who as everyone else has said make this place stand out apart. The 2 receptionists in particular (sorry i can't remember your names, the girl from Birmingham and the guy from Luxor) were absolutely fantastic, very freindly and helpful, even attempted to translate the tciket i received from an over zealous police guy!
My wife Nina had a really relaxing time, much of it spent by the pool and chatting to others, whilst i was able to take advantage of the excellent location to head out the back of the hotel straight into the desert, an amazing mix of deep wadis and hills rising to over 1000m for a run every morning.
The location just out of town is a definite plus - whilst Dahab is a genuine bedouin town not spoilt by lots of package type hotel complexes, it is spoilt by complete disregard for any sense of tidyness, with litter absolutely everywhere, plastic water bottles and bags everywhere - it must be a culture thing, but the one negative comment of our trip, a real shame to us visitors.
We can't fault the hotel itself though, as others have said it is superbly clean and tidy. And because it is small, only 30 rooms, so it does have a very intimate feel to it. All rooms have a good sized balcony , all with the same seas view - it trully deserves the name of Paradise - thanks to all u guys there who made our stay so good!

We spent 10 nights here last month and can't wait to return! The Dahab Paradise is a fantastic hotel, the staff are amazing and due to the location (slightly out of town) it's very peaceful and relaxing. The promenede in Dahab town is easily accessible either by taxi (5 mins) or walking (25-30 mins), taxi's can be ordered in reception and cost 15-20 Egyptian Pound.

Some nights we ate in the restaurant at the hotel, both food and staff are great. During the day we found ourselves lounging around the swimming pool, there were always sun loungers and towels available and one afternoon they even had a pool side barbecue. If you feel like a change of scenery I would recommend going snorkelling at The Three Pools, again taxi's can be arranged at reception and equipment can be hired from the dive shop where the dive instructor has plenty of usefull tips. I would also recommend the day trip to Petra, it's an early start but something you will never forget!

The first day I arrived at the paradise I was a little dissapointed with our rooms, furniture was a bit worn and we were surprised to see a flatscreen tv mounted on the wall. The first few nights we also were eaten alive by mosquitoes but after mentioning this at reception we returned to our room one afternoon to find that they had gone to the trouble to hang a mosquito net above the bed.

By the middle of the holiday we felt protective of the hotel when new guests arrived, this hotel really is paradise and an amazing escape!

As a solo female traveller for the first time I was a little nervous about my trip to Dahab....by my second afternoon I felt completely at home. A little out of the normal strip of hotels, Paradise has a real authentic feel about it and is set in much nicer surroundings. The rooms are basic but traditional, though I believe some were going through a revamp while I stayed - but in all honesty I was so busy meeting new people and learning to dive I barely had time to sit down anyway....the staff are really, really friendly and will go out of their way to help....you just need to ask! They helped arranged all types of adventures during my stay, as well as the more routine ordering of Taxi's (if you can call them that!), suggesting good restaurants (serving particularly good Indian and sea food) and checking my return flights (good job as I was delayed by 6 hours!)....I had wanted to attempt a solo holiday for years...Dahab Paradise was the perfect location for this - even the other guests seem super friendly - would recommend it to all and hope to return again soon....

The Dahab Paradise is exactly that.... from the moment I stepped out of the taxi, to the moment I (begrudgingly) left, I was greeted by genuine smiles, warmth and kindness. The staff are truly amazing. The food is glorious, the rooms are clean & comfortable and all have a sea view. The showers are the best I have ever experienced in a hotel!
The outings arranged by the hotel are the most organised and succesful trips I have ever been on.
I would love to rave on about how great the hotel is, but I don't want to share it - it's mine....all mine!

Just returned from a week in paradise... I wish we could have stayed. This hotel is wonderful! The staff is so friendly! Need a taxi? They'll arrange one. Want to go snorkeling? Just ask the dive center if it's a good day and if it's not (too rough), they'll tell you where to go. Want to dine by the pool? Just say so. Everything is possible. Of course, doing absolutely nothing is also possible :-)

Our room was cleaned every day. In some magic way, the cleaners always clean your room when you are not there. The room was perfect, smaller than we expected, but it had everything we needed. Even a tv, which we didn't need at all. Airco works great. The beds are 2 meters long, so big enough for us (we usually get beds that are shorter than we are...). The balcony was great too, nice place to sit and watch the sea after a day of snorkeling.

The hotel is beautifully designed, always clean and there are at least 2 people working all day to maintain it, improve anything they can think of, take care of the garden, etc. The pool is cleaned every morning. Towels are provided for the sun beds by the pool, and there are always sun beds available. So if you want to hang around the pool all day, that's no problem. I would recommend checking out the sea too, though ;-)
The food is wonderful. We didn't get sick all week (we got the impression that's a miracle in this area). There is not too much on the menu, but everything on there is good. Especially the fresh fish (and fresh really means fresh here), shrimp alfredo, vegetable pizza, well....everything we had was good. And the restaurant staff (esp. Remo & Remon!) are the friendliest, most professional people we ever met. Breakfast is also great, omelets are made especially for you, there is fresh fruit and yogurt, wonderful. Yes, the pancakes are cold, but who cares, really?
We left at 5 pm and the staff wrapped some sandwiches for us, to eat on the plane. Didn't know such service still existed anywhere! All the other people were jealous of our sandwiches :-D
At night, the fire is lit and you can sit there, drink delicious Bedouin tea, smoke the shisha if you like, and chat a bit with the staff or other guests. Really, if you have a stressful job and need a holiday to relax, this is the place!

The sea just in front of the hotel is beautiful. If it's calm enough to snorkel there (about 4 out of the 7 days we were there, in February), do it! We saw all kinds of fish including 'nemo' and morays (a giant moray!) and even two sea turtles. If the sea is too rough to snorkel in front of the hotel, there are other places nearby that are usually calmer. The man at the dive center has great advice on that. You can also go into the desert on all kinds of trips, just ask at the reception. Diving and windsurfing are the main activities in Dahab, but there is a lot of other stuff to do (including doing nothing). We only went snorkeling and could fill a whole week with that. Next time, we're going to try diving.
The location of the hotel is perfect, far enough from the town to be quiet and peaceful, and close enough to visit the town if you want to. A taxi into town costs 15 Egyptian pounds, which is about 2,30 Euro (this price is arranged by the hotel, it's always a 'deluxe' taxi) and you can get a taxi back for 10 or even 5 Egyptian pounds (a bit of haggling is always fun, and as the taxis in the town center are old beat-up jeeps, they should cost less than the luxury taxi, right? :-))

So to sum up:
Liked: staff, food, room, hotel, cleanliness, location, sea, weather
Disliked: that we had to go home

Go there: if you want peace & quiet, go on excursions, go snorkeling/diving/surfing/swimming/sunbathing
Please don't go there: if you want to drink a lot and go out and make a lot of noise. There are other hotels for you that might suit your needs better :-)

Oh yeah, minor note: there are a lot of mosquitoes now. So take some repellents to avoid being up all night.

Excellent dive/ relax hotel, location perfect for Blue Hole. Dive centre within complex (with main Big Blue dive centre in town). Returned as a single traveller a year later. Not your five star resort (as in all the amenities), but if you want a chilled out place with excellent friendly feel, lots of diving, a book by the pool afterwards and a stroll/ lift to the town later.... then excellent. Recently opened so furnishings are top (though there was no tv - which was perfect for a relaxing time away). SO would return again... definately. Recommened... the chocolate milkshakes by the pool!!!!!!!
Right next to beach (though stoney ...as most are in the area)... good trips offered in area. Transfers arranged. Best hotel in the area. Tip ... take the day trip to Jordan... long day but worth it. Only slightly marked down due to out of town loaction... which is actually it's selling point. Town is an easy 5mins in a lift (hotel is superfriendly to offer this facility though).

Loved this hotel and enjoyed being out of the rather squalid tourist area of Dahab. It was close to Blue Hole, close enough to the town to visit if you must, but has everything you could possibly need right there - dive shop, restaurant, access to drivers/activities - wonderful.
