“So disappointing!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2010

We stayed at the Miami Beach for one night after climbing Mount Sinai, en route to Ras Mohammed. This hotel could - and should - have been idyllic: whitewashed buildings, with balconies overlooking the pool or out to sea, its own private beach...

However, in reality the hotel was run down. The bathroom smelt strongly of sewage, the towels were tiny, grubby and ripped, and the shower curtain aided rather than prevented the shower flooding the bathroom every time we used it. I didn't mind the hard bed, but my other half found it hard to sleep on what I admit was a very unforgiving matress. The private beach also seemed neglected, with a pile of rubbish behind the bedouin bar, and glass bottles strewn along the boundary. I didn't eat much at breakfast due to the flies that were crawling all over it.

With a little TLC, the rooms could have been so much better, and it would have taken only a short time to tidy up the beach. To be fair to the staff, we found them to be courteous and friendly. However, more care needed to be taken to make this a nice place to stay.

Having visited Dahab seven years ago, we were surprised how much its all changed. The surge in building work in real estate and infrastructure has affected the quality of the once fine golden sandy beaches. It has resulted in beach fronts being littered with rocks and bricks as well as the ubiquitous egyptian rubbish. However of all the beaches Miami Beach hotel has the cleanest beach on the strip and not only that you can access the beach without having to cross the road to get to it! which you dont realise from websites, but most hotels are seperated from the beachfront by the main road! From our ground floor bedroom, we enjoyed an unbroken view of the sea. Walking from our balcony, we were ten steps from the sea and another ten steps to reach your very own red sea reef paradise where you can snorkel and fish-spot to your hearts content. Other pros about this hotel was that it was generally clean, it had a lovely clean pool with a poolside bar, the lovely staff: Raslaan, Mina, Marco, (wish i could remember the others names but they escape me at the moment), the pancake breakast personally prepared by masterchef! The bedrooms were also a good size and we were delighted with the towel and blanket creations by cleaning staff. However, while we enjoyed our own personal beach, it was at the cost of being about a 10minute drive from the centre of Dahab. When going into town dont pay more LE5 per head, coming back from town you'll probably have to pay a minimum of LE20 altogether. However, the hotel is on the way to two popular dive sites the Canyon and the Blue Hole, which means you should be able to pick up cheap taxi rides as taxis pass by on their way to the sites.
Oh and another thing what is the story with the teeny weeny shower? the bathroom is large enough for a roomy bath, instead they've stuck in a tiny shower, so small, that you end up having a fight with the shower curtain (which wasnt pleasant as the showercurtain was dirty). and on the teeny size, why are the pillows so small??? But for all the hotel's faults I would definitely go back there. For example having an onsite engineer is a blessing; when the cleaning staff noticed our showerhead had no pressure they got the engineer to come and replace it in like five minutes! fantastic! ...you never know they may have changed the shower curtain if I'd said something.

Loved the location and the clean beach! Sorry to tell you this but most of the beaches in Egypt are trash-strewn. Miami Hotel guests are apparently a lot more responsible. : )
A/C worked great, hot water fine, cleanish room. Some in our group reported that the A/C in their rooms didn't work that well.
I'd recommend it and stay here again. Food is just OK, salads are good though. Has a nice little gift shop and a bar with wine, beer, and liquor. Dhahab is a 10 minute cab ride down the road. 15 minute ride to blue hole. Heard great things about the massages....

I'm so happy i picked this hotel for the last leg of my stay in Egypt what wonderful staff and service that comes with them i stayed there for 2weeks with friends and family 15 of us in all and wished it could of been longer, the buffet lunch and dinner wow what a treat.

the hotel its self was great the swimming pool was a nice place cooled us rite down (few beers) there isn't anything i could say bad about the place the English assistant manager and guest relations manager David is so friendly and is doing his best to maintain and even improve the facilities there. all in all it is a wonderfully peaceful place clean and tidy with great rooms and doesn't even cost you a bomb 10 out 10 for Miami and all its staff

We were placed here by our tour company, despite our itinerary stating another hotel (the fourth time this was done on our tour) and like the others it was in the middle of nowhere. After hearing this me made a fight as the hotel is 5km out of town heading north towards the Blue hole and we had free transport organised. So we assumed that being so far away in a 'resort' it would be like an upgrade - but this place was a basic 3 star and seemed to be finished in a hurry, there website even says construction is still ongoing.

The water from the shower would end up all over the bathroom floor, there was no hairdryer (which in a place involving swimming and salt is a necessity for women) and we had 3 channels on the TV. The towels were the size of a miniskirt and there were no blankets on the beds or in the wardrobes, just 2 sheets on each bed (we all received twins despite all being couples - common in Egypt). The hotel did have a nice pool area but no other facilities that would make it a true resort. It was bewildering why a hotel of this level would be build so far away.

The only reason one would stay here is because they were diving at the blue hole and had transport to get there, Even still I'm sure there are better places to stay. We didn't give it a 1 star rating as nothing actually went wrong for us, just a place to avoid

Dahab is a wonderful place though and definately worth visitng.
