My family a party of Eight ages ranging from 14 to 51 have returned from Mecure Dahab after spending two weeks there. We have had a fantastic time .There are lots to do in and around the hotel a shuttle bus into town if you wish to go, there are lots of trips to go on with your tour operator or with the taxi firm in the hotel shop around for a bargain Treat yourself to a massage the team are very professional at the sensation spa and beauty centre see Fatima or Biba our Egyptian sisters. Then you could spoil yourself have pedicure and nails painted ask for Adam(Basem) who always smiles or Abdallah or get a close shave with Mustaffa Funny men. Ramadan kept us entertained and talked to everyone .A wonderful Sea view from all the rooms nice clean and spacious. Tea and coffee in your rooms. The pool is nice and clean and the staff down there are fantastic, The snacks at the pool bar are not your average burger or pizza there huge and the staff always bubbly they work hard especially Walled. Go down to the beach bar to be greeted by Sherif who greets you with your fave drink and a warm smile he works in the restaurant too. The meals are varied we had no problem with choice and before long our drinks were waiting on the table for us at our evening meals nothing is too much trouble . He has become a good friend to us all. We spoke to the manager Mr Ahmed Naiem and said what a nice Hotel it was with stunning views and gardens you could just see Saudi Arabia across the sea ,on arriving back at our room we were greeted with a huge fruit platter with complements. When it was time to go he asked if our party would have a drink with him before we left . We have visited Egypt many times and enjoy the culture .Your holiday is what you make it, we had a fantastic time with Wendy Dave, Dave, William, James ,Kate,Dale. We will go back miss them all already.

Will we be going back next year? No!
Thompson said that it was a perfect Family holiday with something for every one! They lied.
We have just come back from 2 weeks holiday and can honestly say that by day 6 we were counting down the days to come home.
Dont get me wrong the Hotel accomadation is lovely and clean, with very big rooms all with a stunning sea view where you can see Saudi across the water. Some of the staff are very pleasant and helpful but very over worked. The entertainment was so poor that an english lady had taken her own bingo cards for the evenings entertainment while the paid show was outside playing to empty chairs, Bet you can guess where most of the Brits were. The food was basic and the same most days and looked like they were served out of a dog bowls and I still haven't found out what the brown sloppy stuff was that is served up at b,fast! The Drinks were not much better either. They had a kids club that was never open! you couldn,t go paddlig in the sea due to the coral and if you were not a strong swimmer the sea was completly out as it was just to choppy ( PERFECT FOR WIND SUFFING) lots and lots of Stairs to the pool and restaraunt, very hard going for the healthist of people in 40+ heat every day, its only a short distance but a killer 6 times a day for two weeks, even the easy route is steep. We didn't go into Dahab town as other guests said it was a S---Hole,not ideal for Kids and not much there anyway. We went through Thompsons and paid £4.600 for a family of 5,only to be told that others got it a lot cheaper. We were also told that there were only two rooms left by the travel company and others were told the same, yet the hotel was only about a third full. We counted 67 people around the pool one morning and 28 for b'fast. The hotel has potential with a better choice of food, a daily activities programme and evening entertianment and better beach facilitys. We feel that we paid over the odds for the holiday that we had and would not be going back to the Mercure Hotel in the near future.

We arrived at Bay View late at night as a party of 8.Check in was easy and were immediately shown to our very spacious rooms by the buggy man who turned out to be a great guy.Thought we had best make friends with him as a member of our group had walking difficulties, but to our suprise the steps were not so bad and there were easy access routes available. The rooms had the most amazing views and at about 6pm saudi arabia turns white the sky turns pink and the sea turns a very strange blue its quite weird and everywhere is always so quiet.Lunch is served around the pool by Walled who is always on the go but is calm, organised and always happy considering how hard he works. The food here is served to order so its made fresh and tasty. The pool bar has a relaxed atmosphere and ice cream is served here at 4.The massage parlour was run by Fatima who gave us a good deal for 4 massages each and i can quite honestly say it was good money well spent. All staff worked hard and to a very high standard and the coffee scrub was so funny especially trying to remove it, we were finding coffee granules for days.We all felt the benefits of the massage and i would highly recommend it.The snorkelling was an eye opener, ive visited egypt many times and have never snorkelled.I plucked up the courage this time and found the experiance unbelievable. We also visited the beauty salon during our stay, the men had a turkish shave which they said felt so good and we had our feet done, without going into to much detail we spent an afternoon in good company, our feet felt so soft our nails were cut and painted. The boys were so impressed they had their feet done as well, although they declined the nail poilish.A big thankyou to Abdallah,Basem [Adam] and Mustaffa great lads. The nail polish was touched up before we left free of charge and still looks good today and ive been home a week. The restaurant had great views for breakfast and all staff here worked hard and always went out of their way to push tables together so all eight of us could sit together. After the first few nights they got to know our drinks order and what time we came for dinner and it was already waiting for us.The main bar area was ok and entertainment was put on outside.Sherif worked on various bars throughout our stay and i would now consider him as a good friend,he always worked hard and was always good to talk with as were all the staff at the hotel.Ramadan was also an absolute star and made us laugh for a whole fortnight.Id like to say thanks for my stay at this hotel and hope to return soon,Wendy Dave,Peggy,Dave and kids

Room Tip: all rooms have a sea view and the wholr resort is quiet.

The food in the restrant breakfast 4 star they cook really nice omelet ,pancakes and scramble egg. You don't get e.g bacon beans sausage.
Diner 0 star dont bother going if you are allinclusive as you are entitled to a meal down at the pool bar which consis of berger, hotdog, pizza or chicken sandwich.
Pool bar food 5 star really good
Tea 1 star .this is not edable they can cook soup and well that's it rest of the food in the restrant is bad pasta which was cook in a puddle of water so really dry and hard. there was chicken if you got a pice that wasn't a 100% bone

Stayed at the Mercure 27th July for 2 weeks and second visit to Egypt. As others have already stated the hotel has a fantastic reef (my first time snorkelling) and can even just sit on the steps to see the amazing fish!! All the staff we encountered where really helpful but definately over worked. Dehab very relaxing chilled place to visit especially compared to Sharm.
Rooms - On arrival we requested a room on the second level and this was immediately changed while we waited for the 'buggy' to transport us we ended up on Level 4 which meant we were not far from the reception and restaurant. The room was spacious, bathroom a bit dated but clean and towels changed every day and sheets every other day. Tea, coffee and water replenished every day.
Food - Breakfast is adequate with omlette or fried eggs made to order, scrambled and boiled eggs, grilled tomatoes, potatoes, french toast available, also the usual cheese and cold meats. Cereals, toast and an abudance of fresh pastries to chose from. Dinner is definately in need of improvement and it seemed to worsen in the second week. The soup was usually nice with fresh breads and there was always a variety of salad dishes (some good, some not so good) the desserts where of a similar standard BUT the main courses, although you could usually find something if not too fussy, where not of a good standard unless you liked rice, chicken wings/thighs, a type of stew or a grilled fish of some sort every day.. however saying that we did manage to find something most nights and on a night when it was difficult Mohammed offered to make something and the next day Mustaf asked what the problem had been and apologised (so they are aware and if you are unhappy will try and accommodate you) but they definately need enhance their menus. The pool bar is, as others have said, freshly made pizzas, burger etc and all served by Wallid or another member of friendly staff who appear in various parts of the hotel during the day/night.
Pool area - Usually managed to get a sun bed around the pool but there was always the beds with towels on that nobody used until late in the afternoon or not at all. There is also a second small pool with jacuzzi on Level 1 which no one seems to use, it is need of renovation and you have to go into the main bar area to get a drink so that is maybe why,but is VERY quiet. The bar at the main pool closed at 5 and you had to come out of the pool and return towels when the sun went down, which got earlier and earlier each day. (however it was Ramadan so not sure if this is usual practice).
Entertainment - None, but we knew this before we went as had read, we didn't even get to see the 'piano man'. Only thing was a tv on the wall with constant MTV. They did open the disco for a couple of nights but only a couple went into it and then it closed again. They also opened the 'cigar' lounge one night for us to view while they cleaned it .... more of a museum ... it was then locked up again.
Bar - A lot has been said about Mohammed 'the bar man'. We found him as friendly, pleasant and hard working as all the staff and yes, there where queues (about 15 people) for drinks sometimes but this was usually straight after dinner when everyone came up but you did not have to wait long and once he got to know what you drank he would serve you as soon as he could. He would disappear sometimes but this was usually to replenish the bar with stock or collect glasses from outside and put them into the washer as he was running out (I felt that the hotel did not have enough glasses in the bar) and as for him disappearing at the end of the night he had to collect lamps etc from outside, if you timed it right there was no problem. Maybe this again is a management issue (need for more staff) rather than the individual!!
Finally .... the spa ...I asked when it would be open and was told there was a problem with it and they did not know when it would be available however it was opened on our last day and this coincided with a visit from 2 men who were discribed as 'the big bosses'!!!!!!
Overall, despite the improvements needed we did enjoy our stay as we feel a holiday is what you make and we didnt starve or go thristy and the weather and reef made up for everything!!

Me and my husband have just returned from a weeks stay here and had a lovely holiday.
I've been all over Egypt and although the hotel was beautiful I can see why there are some bad reviews but it didn't ruin our holiday!
The rooms were very nice and spacious and were always cleaned, nice large balcony with beautiful views of the ocean!
The food wasn't amazing and was very little choice but we didn't starve, breakfast was probably the best meal of the day just don't expect a full english and the food from the pool bar at lunch was nice.
The pool area is really nice and the house reef was brilliant!
An overall good holiday and very relaxing!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the 100 block closer to the pool which I thought was the best block, but the 200's...

I stayed at the Mercure with a friend for a week in mid August. The hotel itself was poor, food was disgusting and cold and I am by no means used to A la Carte food! We stayed in a room where the flush did not work and we had an infestation of giant ants!!
As two young women we felt very unsafe in this hotel! The staff were very sleazy and over familiar and made us feel uncomfortable. We received phone calls to our hotel room from an Egyptian man we believed to be a member of staff. These calls became so frequent and quite frankly scary that we decided we no longer felt safe in the hotel. We ended up moving to the Iberotel Dahabeya which was stunning and exactly what we went to Egypt for, relaxation not harassment!!
