“Friendliest hotel I've stayed in!”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

We have just returned from a week at the Happy Life to find some winter sunshine. The reviews made it stand out from the other hotels in the area due to the comments about the staff. We were not disappointed by our choice, what smiley, friendly, helpful people they were. All of them, security, gardeners, waiters, everyone that works there smiles and chats to you.
The dive centre that is on the Happy Life site is also a fantastic place, nothing is too much trouble and it's well worth seeing the reef.
There is actually no need to dive, you just climb down the steps and stick your face in the water and see amazing fish and coral all around you.
We had no concerns about our safety and felt well looked after and safe at all times. It is such a shame the hotel is only partially full and that these lovely people are lacking guests.

We visited the Happy Life Hotel over Easter this year and although I rarely return to a holiday hotel I wouldn't hesitate to return to this one. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The food is very good and quite varied - I've had better, but in the grand scheme of things, it's still good and the restaurant staff are wonderful and very accommodating.

The hotel itself is spread over a large area in a very secluded location and leads directly onto the beach. It has a pier and house reef which is lovely and, if you walk around the bay to the bedouin camps you can sit in their tents and eat, drink, relax and snorkel the fabulous reefs that many travel huge distances to access. It's great! You can also book camel rides and horse rides from this area but remember to haggle.

If you have some little ones you'd like to park somewhere else for a while then the children's club is excellent and so are the animation team. The children's disco in the tent on the beach each evening is well worth a visit too. Our 5 year old loved it!

There are several pools and a fab restaurant by one of them where you can get a great lunch for a small price. The burgers are wonderful as are all the staff.

All in all it's a great family hotel. If you want night clubs or swinging evening entertainment this is not for you as it doesn't cater for this and is not even near anywhere that does. On the other hand, if you're looking for a nice quiet, out of the way place to relax and enjoy your family time away then I cannot recommend it more.

The hotel was very quite and this was our second visit this year. The staff are very good and very attentive. Nady is one of the beach bar lads he serves thirsty sun bathers all day and greets every one with a smile. He is a great asset to the hotel and he makes the entire stay special . As I have said the Hotel staff work all day making this place a very unique retreat and one that can not be beaten in all Egypt. If you want relaxation you will find it here. The foods great and you have plenty of choice . The snorkelling is very good and the waters clear. The hotel is safe so why not pay its a visit and I would guarantee you will return.

Room Tip: all the rooms are excellent and quiet

2nd trip to Happy Life, the last one being 2005.
Yet again all the holidaymakers arriving in Sharm airport were heading to their various destinations in Sharm itself and we (5 of us) were happy to see there was only us on the bus to Dahab and Happy Life. It may seem selfish but this is the best kept secret in Egypt and long may it remain so.
The Happy Life had grown threefold since we last there, but still retains that intimacy that we fell in love with 8 years ago.
The staff were amazing, Mohammed........absolute star, as were all the waiters and cooks, bar staff, cleaners etc etc.

Yes the hotel was quiet, blissfully quiet and even those who like to lay their towels out before sun up, you needn't have bothered, room for all.

Food again was very good, and more than anyone could possibly eat, glasses were replenished with wine as if it were a competition.

Loved it, will be back for more

Room Tip: ask for a room near the beach, upper level for a great view

Wow, this was our 2nd trip to the Happy Life and what an absolute pleasure it was again, we were remembered from the previous year by even the porters, it was humbling to be made to feel so welcome on our return visit. Sadly, the hotel was really quiet, I say sadly but what I mean is we had a pool all to ourselves for 2 weeks, staff who couldn't do enough for us and weather to die for. Lets start with the amazing bar staff who looked after us so well, nothing was too much trouble - Akram (we love you), Albeer ( I want to adopt you), Sayed (service always with a smile) Raagi (quiet but you will get used to us next year). You were all amazing and made our holiday so special and never let our glasses be empty, even when I had the hangover from hell. Now for the restaurant staff, Mohammed you are an absolute diamond, they should never let you go, our waiters Nazmy, Alfy, Kareim, /Gourg, Kirolos, Remmah and Bassam, all of who provided us with the best service we could ever hope for as well making our meal times hilarious - how do I say would you like something cold to drink? Agas sar bibs, cola Fanta sprite, we are all still laughing at this. Even when the hotel in the last week was full of Eyptians for Eide, all the staff made sure we had a table for every meal and our glasses were always full, You will never know or understand how much this meant to us.
All the chefs who fed us with mouthwatering choices every day all day, even when the hotel was almost empty, they still gave us a tremendous choice, a huge thank you to each and everyone of you, I now have to go on a diet to loose all the weight I put on.... Moheb yet again your staff are a credit to you, thank you for the lunch on our last day and for opening the restaurant early just for us. You are a wonderful host and it will be our pleasure to come back next year. If anyone wants to have a real taste of a true Egyptian hotel, this is the one to try, as you are really looked after. Yes the hotel could do with a bit of sprucing up, but if no-one has really been there this year we understand it will have to wait and no-one can blame you as money will be tight. That aside I can truthfully say I have never been to a hotel like this where you come first and the staff go out of their way to make you feel special, no matter what. A huge thank you to all our friends at the Happy Life and we hope to see you all next year, keep safe xx

This was our 5th visit to this hotel and things are just the same if not better. We can only echo the positive feedback from other travellers comments on trip advisor, if you want to relax enjoy good food and excellent hospitality then this is the place to stay. Although the political situation in Egypt has put a lot of travellers off, we felt completely at ease, transfers to and from Sharm to Dahab were fine. The hotel was no where near full capacity although on this visit there were many more British than on previous stays many who were revisiting. On this holiday we took our 3 year old grandson who was spoiled by all the staff and was catered for brilliantly, he really enjoyed the whole experience. So once again a big thank you to the management and all the staff for a wonderful stay.

Hotel beautifully situated in remoter location to south of Dahab City.
Has its own reef with easy snorkelling and diving access to the tropical fish tank that is the Red Sea.
Standards of cleanliness at the hotel are extremely good; in fact far better than others we have personally experienced in Tunisia Morocco and Egypt.
Catering is nicely varied and well prepared and presented- Fillet steaks, fresh fish and calamari just a few things worthy of a mention.
Management and staff are extremely friendly and informative; nothing is too much trouble for them.
Excursion by Quad Bike (Hotel organised and run) to be recommended.

In summary - A beautiful quite remote location - Superb value for money - Recommended.

Room Tip: Recommend ask for Upper Floor rooms in Block 12 - Best view of shoreline :-) Take a walk to the 3 P...
