“We're booking again for this year”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 February 2014

My husband took some persuading to visit Egypt last October - but we had such a great holiday in Dahab that we are about to book again for this October and bring some friends with us. It was the lure of the Blue Hole that finally got him to say yes and the snorkelling around the Blue Hole was indeed wonderful. However it was the friendliness of the staff at the Bedouin Moon that really made the holiday for us. Gilly, Karim, Lucy and the rest of the team couldn't have done more to make our stay a successful one. We didn't want an impersonal international hotel and the Bedouin Moon was the perfect choice for us - our sea view room was big enough and was spotlessly clean and the mosquito nets did their job. Perfect location on the edge of the town means it was really peaceful sitting on the balcony watching the light change on the sea yet a short (and amazingly good value) taxi ride into the busy town centre for the bars and restaurants. We enjoyed walking to the Lighthouse area in town for our morning mango juice before the first snorkell of the day rather than doing taxi both ways. One beautifully calm morning we snorkelled the house reef a few metres from the hotel - it was untouched and truly beautiful and we were the only ones there. There are loads of restaurants to choose from in town but we enjoyed our meals at the Bedouin Moon so much that we ate there more often than we'd expexted to - after we'd enjoyed a drink from the bar sitting by the pool. Dont forget to take you hairdryer with you and do take some good insect repellent and you should have a great stay too. I had better make that booking now before you beat me to it...

Room Tip: Worth the extra for a full sea view

We are a couple who went to the Bedouin Moon to do some diving next door at the Reef 2000 dive centre (see separate review). We prefer independent "quirky" hotels as opposed to large hotel chains and we couldn't be described (usually) as all-night party animals.

In our opinion the hotel is best described as full of character, if a little sand-blasted around the edges. This is not a 5-star hotel, so don't expect the sort of standards or facilities associated with such places.

We what we found was:
(i) a chilled out hotel where guests could relax and just "go with the flow" - we found the stresses and strains of every day life just drained away when we walked through the door;
(ii) the staff could not do enough for the guests - every member of staff put the needs and comfort of the guests first - and we felt this was really genuine - no forced smiles here!
(iii) the food was excellent and reasonably priced - the best meal I had all week (including several trips into Dahab) was the Chicken and Apricot Tagine at the hotel - the food here is really good!
(iv) the rooms were clean and comfortable - when we arrived we were met with a twin room - although we had asked for a double. Now this mistake was the fault of the travel agency and NOT the hotels. However, the hotel quickly resolved the problem with no fuss at all. Yes, the paint was peeling on the patio, and the room decor was a little tired......but it was clean and very comfortable.

Special mention to Gillian, the matriarch of the hotel, for whom nothing was too much trouble
- she organised a wonderful day in the desert for us and helped to make our birthdays very special.

We are already planning our return trip for June 2014 - this is a haven of tranquility and relaxation and is, in our opinion, rather special.

Room Tip: Room 8 faces out onto the front of the hotel - lovely views of the see - but can be windy.

This little gem in Dahab is my r and r place as a single traveller. From arriving at reception with a free fruit juice to luggage being carried to my room, I feel the tiredness of UK life ebbing away.
The rooms are cleaned daily and have mosquito nets provided as well as fresh towels and soap.
Gilly always introduces you to everyone as soon as you awaken after a great nights sleep, and the best thing ever is opening the curtains to the sunshine outside :-)
Lucy in the morning makes the best coffee you have tasted, and there are always little nuggets in the menu for the free breakfast- caramelised onion pizza anyone.
There is a 24 hour presence at the hotel and with beers costing under £2 for a big bottle there is no room for complaint!
This time Gilly let me try a superior room for one night with number upgrade cost, I feel very spoilt and also welcome when I go there.
Thank you to one and all, the number of people returning time after time shows you are getting it right.....

Room Tip: Most rooms get you a sea view of sorts, superior rooms are a real treat.

My husband and I have just returned from a week of Red Sea Diving at Bedouin Moon and Reef2000. The hotel is 2 star so I didn't expect the height of luxury but the staff, service and facilities are simply outstanding. The room was comfortable and impeccably clean and the pool area was a beautiful spot to relax. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and everyone made such an effort to make sure we were introduced to our fellow guests and diving companions.

I also did five yoga classes while there and found the practice to be soothing and friendly. Just perfect after a tiring day's diving and lugging tanks around.

I would not hesitate to recommend Bedouin Moon to all my friends and may also travel there by myself in the future if my husband and I can't coordinate holiday time. I feel like I've made many friends and truly hope that 2014 brings them more peace and security than the last couple of years. They made our holiday perfect.

Room Tip: The superior rooms have a fabulous wet room and new mosquito nets. Definitely worth the extra!

The staff were really friendly and polite, the rooms were clean and the pool was in a nice location.
The fire pit is a great place to relax in the evenings and encourages guests to get to know each other.
Try the Chicken Schnitzel.

My husband and I fancied a Red Sea diving holiday and we chose Dahab and the Bedouin Moon based on reviews from this site. Great choice! Loved the 'fire pit' during the cool January evenings and the pool area is exceptional for this size of hotel. The dive centre, 'Reef 2000' is attached to the hotel and was all we were hoping for. Everyone we met at the hotel/dive centre and out and about were friendly, helpful and keen to make sure we had a memorable holiday. We felt very safe in Dahab and tried a different place to eat every night. All were good value, served excellent food and we would happily go back to any of them. We will be back!

We have been coming to the Bedouin Moon and diving with Reef 2000 since 2005 and have been back many times since. It's like home from home now, take a bit of extra time to get to know the waiters and staff and you have made friends before you know it! Everyone is very friendly and it is a great place for solo travellers. The dive center is one of the best in Dahab, very professional but with a relaxed atmosphere, you are in very safe hands. Have recommended this hotel and dive center to friends many times and everyone has loved it. We're back for 2 weeks in May and can't wait!
