We stayed at La Reine for about 5 days while diving the Red Sea.
It's just around the corner from the markets and restaurants meaning you don't need a taxi to get around, but it's very quiet nevertheless.
Room was cleaned every day except for one day.
Overall the place is very clean compared to Cairo, staff added the extra touch when they cleaned the room by putting cooldrinks and bottled water in the freezer as well folding the new clean towels into different shapes every morning (was exciting to get back after a day of diving to see what creations they've made on our beds)
Staff was very helpful, even made plenty of phonecalls to help us get tours organised painlessly (free of charge), organised luggage and visa pickup when we had to be somewhere else during another tour, packed us breakfast for the mornings where we had to leave 3am or 7am for a tour. They really went out of their way to make things happen.
While waiting for the dive centre jeep to pick us up, we had nice conversations with some of the staff members.
They did our washing and we were very happy to have some clean, good smelling clothes again. The pillows were big enough to have a comfy sleep and solid enough to squash mosquitos.

Some of the staff struggle to speak English, but there's usually another staff member nearby who will help translate.

The only gripes I have with Le Reine, is that the bathroom is very squashed, the shower even more so and the breakfast is a bit skimpy if all you can eat is the bread and have to give away all the cheeses and yoghurt to the stray cats - banana was often too green to eat and I was hoping for maybe a mango to munch instead of all the dairy products (which I can't eat). Luckily the markets around the corner stocked some bananas, so I could fulfil my breakfast-calorie requirements.

Overall a very good experience!

This hotel was decent. Considering you pay the same as for "motel 6" in the US. This was a deal. Cheaper hotels can be found, but without a pool and without breakfast. It was a two minute walk from the main touristy shopping street and 3 blocks to the cornish of shops and restaurants. The rooms all have a balcony that looks into the pool. The pool and room was clean. I had to plug in the fridge, but it was quiet and no problem. The one little light in the bathroom is not bright enough to shave very well. Good thing I was in bohemian Dahab and didn't have to worry about being clean shaven... LOL. If you want a step up from the $15 a night hotels, then this place is alright. Not sure what people were talking about with dead mosquitos and such. This was set up by the manager at I-Dive since our group spilled over into needed a second hotel. It worked for me and the staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was included and it was ok. The usual simple hotel breakfast. They make omelets and crepes for you when you get to the buffet.

Room Tip: To quickly get to the cornish, just go to the first right out the hotel and then when it dead ends a...

Arrived here on an organised tour after staying in 4 & 5 star resorts in Luxor aswan and Cairo. This is far from the standard we were promised.
Blood stains on the wall from squashed mosquitos, water was leaking around the toilet, beds were filthy, cockeroaches. All other people on our tour group experienced similar problems with their rooms as well.

Built of coloured stone around a large central pool. Sweeping staircaises and large potted palms gives the place an air of opulence. Each room has it's own balcony overlooking the pool. The rooms are nicely decorated but in a state of disrepair. In our room none of the doors worked properly, the taps in the bathroom basin were broken and the lock on the room door was close to falling apart. The staff were helpful and there was a free internet computer in the lobby. Breakfast was very good with cornflakes, toast, olives, yoghurt, cucumber, tomato, eggs and a few local dishes to try as well as unlimited tea and coffee. Overall a nice experience.

We stayed here at Christmas 2007. The pool area and reception is nice and clean. We had a downstairs room with a balcony overlooking the pool. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. It had enough wardrobe space, a tv and fridge. The bathroom was a bit tired and had a green gloss painted door that made it look a bit like an outhouse.
The breakfast room was also a bit tired and the breakfasts were ok if you got there early enough (nice coffee and omelettes). The staff were polite and they arranged transport to and from the airport, which was on time and a reasonable cost.
The location is great, only 5 minutes to the shops and restaurants of which there are plenty. Despite worries about the food it was all good and plentiful if you stick to the local fare. I don't recommend the Italian Restaurant. The Nessima Resort does an excellent fillet steak for about £7, and it has a great bar with a lovely bar man. Dahab is typically Eqyption and looks a bit run down in places. There's not much to do here if you don't like snorkelling or scuba diving unless you go on organised trips. If you do like diving/snorkelling I would definately come. The red sea is amazing for both.

beautifully renovated hotel with everything you can wish for. Clean, nice rooms, friendly staff, big pool, great location. Just outside of the noisy part and therefore quiet, but only 5 minutes to walk to where the action is. Will have a new professional diving center from October. If you want to stay in Dahab, and not outside in one of those big "cemeteries in the desert", from where you need a taxi everytime you want to go into town, this is the place to book.
