Daniela Village Dahab

Our diving group stayed at Daniela from 25 Aug to 4 Sep 2013. This was during the civil unrest in Egypt. We were completely unaffected by all of this. Dahab was a safe, tranquil and beautiful holiday destination.

The hotel catered superbly to our diving needs, including organising three day trips two by boat and one by camel so we could dive some of the further reefs. The dive masters Ahmed and Mohammed provided the perfect linear combination of guidance and free reign. They led the dives without fault, pointing out flora and fauna of interest while helping the less experienced divers and not cramping the more experienced divers in the group. The dives themselves are superb, and offer a stunning variety from sea grass, and shallow lagoons, to islands of coral, coral labyrinths, and spectacular wall dives. All with superb visibility and water temperatures allowing diving with only board shorts or 1mm wetsuits.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable with all needs and requirements catered for amicably if not with maximum possible luxury. At this price there is no complaints. Breakfast and dinner were ample, tasty and different everyday, with the staff always friendly if not fluent in English. The prices for lunch (which was not included in our package) and drinks were reasonable and could be ordered from the pool side bar :)

There were nightly trips to the shopping district of Dahab, as we were unaffected by the curfew in place in other parts of Egypt. Daniela also organised all our transfers to and from the airport, all dive sights and the day trips.

I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday, and highly recommend Daniela.

We had a wonderful time at Daniela. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The food was tasty. We enjoyed our dive masters, Ahmed & Mohammed, who were professional, caring and entertaining. My husband learnt a thing or two from playing soccer with the staff teams on the village's sand field! We would love to return. We were unaffected by media reports of unrest - Dahab is a peaceful centre and we were able to enjoy evening commutes to the waterfront to experience restaurants and shopping. The diving is magnificent - the reefs and colours are spectacular.

Daniela Village and Dive Center is a small piece of paradise. The dive sites in and around Dahab are worth the trip. Less crowded and certainly less commercial than Sharm, Dahab offers kind, friendly, down to earth people and environs. If you are not a diver, St. Katherine's is close. In addition, Daniela can arrange day trips to nearby countries, including Petra. The rooms are more than comfortable, with attention to detail. The desert environment is harsh on structures, but it is evident that Daniela strives to keep up with it all. I will return to Daniela Village.

A nice hotel, offering lots of great activities (St Catherine & desert trip, horse riding,..) and an excellent diving center with great instructors and very nice staff. Our three kids and us have very much enjoyed the vacations.

This little place is a family owned and run business that is simply a piece of heaven! Location of the hotel is right beside the blue hole, which is the best destination in dahab for diving, prestine beaches and very clear water.

Rooms are big and clean, but don't have a TV in the room to ensure you socialize and participate in the various activities the hotel has to offer.

Staff is super friendly, atmosphere is relaxing and you would feel positive vibes all around the property.

Food in breakfast is simple but dinners were so delicious we didnt want to eat outside the hotel.

Overall: highly recommended!!

This is THE plce to stay if you plan to visit Dahab, blue hole etc. it's a 15 min walk or cheap cab ride from the noisy centre of Dahab so very peacefull. Built on the site of the old marine observatory it has its own coral reefs, beach even a freshwater pool. I've been back many times on my own and with my family. But inevitably others are starting to develop this strech of coast so go soon before it's charm is lost!

My partner Chris and I recently spent two weeks at the Daniela Hotel. From our arrival until we left on Xmas Eve, the staff at the hotel were always ready to help and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. The setting of the hotel is superb, perched between the ever-changing vistas of the mountains and the blue sea, itself covering an undiscovered kaleidoscopic world of its own. Apart from passing camels and their riders, the peace and quiet is almost palpable - an oasis of calm in the mad world of economic and political turbulence we experience in Europe.

I have always loved Egypt and its people, having travelled there many times for both work and play - however, following a change of career into medicine, I last visited Cairo almost twenty years ago. The staff at the Daniela reminded me of all the terrific people I knew in Egypt and their inimitable Egyptian way of looking at life. Our stay at the Daniela hotel, interacting with all its employees in Dahab, presented a very positive image of both Egyptian hospitality and the generosity and dignity of its people - this is all the more commendable in these more troubled and uncertain times.

The hotel bathrooms could benefit from updating but who expects power showers in the desert? By dint of an extended stay, the buffet food did become somewhat "samey" but always prepared with care and attention. We have eaten in 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants in other countries and our expectations have usually been as well met as they were at the Daniela. Despite the lamentable lack of guests before Xmas due to the inexorable grinding of the political machine in Cairo, the chef and his team continued to produce and serve appetising meals with enthusiasm - well done.

The Daniela Diving Centre will be reviewed separately - I must comment the team of Ahmed, Mohammed and Ali once again to the hotel owner - they are a credit to you. I spent six years working throughout the Gulf States, the Levant and Egypt and the diving team reminded me of how much I miss spending time in the Arab World. As I have always found, working with Egyptians does have an inherent charm which is both entertaining and reassuring.

Chris would not forgive me if I did not mention that the addition of a jetty onto the reef would be a very welcome addition to the Daniela's attractions. In two weeks we never managed to co-ordinate with the tidal timings to allow us to swim out to the reef drop-off - when visiting friends in a nearby hotel, we used both of their jetties to do just this!

This property and its staff do everything to make one feel "at home", welcomed warmly into a safe environment, an escape from the stress and troubles of life here in public service in the NHS and charity sectors. Thank you very much for that.

Room Tip: First floor rooms have a domed ceiling and good-sized balconies with sea views. Ground floor rooms...
