“Perfection, look no where else!”

Tim and Sian are perfect. The apartments are perfect. The grounds/garden are perfect. The location is perfect. The roof terrace is brilliant.

We had a nightmare getting there, with flights from Luxor being cancelled, Sian was always on the phone, happy to rearrange, and there to welcome us with a tour, explaining the area and even a cold beer in the fridge!

The immediate area is cool, lots of little shops, mini mart, fruit and veg stands etc round the square. A cab to the 'main drag' costs £1. Or you can walk it along the beach in about 15 mins or so.

Honestly, I can't think of a single thing to fault.

We didn't actually stay at Sea Stars when we went to Dahab but we wish we had done! We contacted Sian and Tim when we were thinking about going and they offered us a package including diving. In the end we went to the Tropitel Hotel up the coast as the deal with Easyjet with half board was too good to turn down - in hindsight it was the wrong choice - you can see my review for there if you are interested!

However I am still reviewing Sea Stars as a week before we went out I contacted Tim to see if he could still organise our diving for us even though we weren't staying in the appartment. He was ever so helpful and arranged our Open Water qualification dives and a guided dive with his instructor Michelle. We used the facilities at Mirage (which I will also review) but working with Tim and Michelle privately meant that we could go at our own pace and adapt the training to our progress.

Tim also organised a driver - Mohammed to come and pick us up from our hotel each day. He also took us back and would take us via the shops and a pharmacy to pick up supplies. Mohammed also took us out on two other days to go snorkelling when we were too tired to dive and made sure we were well looked after by a 'dive cafe' at each site. It was great not having to negotiate with taxis and knowing that we weren't offending anyone by paying too little or equally getting ripped off and paying too much.

While we were there we did pay a visit to Sea Stars to have a look round and the appartments are fabulous. Bright, clean, well equipped, great views from the roof and close to the shops - if we return to Dahab we will most definitely be staying there in the future.

My family stayed at Sea Stars for Christmas and New Year. This is a great self catering place to stay, the apartments are tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped.Sea Stars is situated on the edge of a Bedouin village with all that entails, a million miles from all inclusive holidays. My husband and I had the downstairs apt. while our daughter and her family had the upper apt. This meant that we shared the spacious roof terrace, a wonderful place to gather for breakfast and to admire the views towards the mountains and Saudi Arabia. We intended to occasionally cater for ourselves but ended up eating out every night as every where was so reasonably priced.
Shopping for our breakfast in Assala was a daily experience, everyone was so friendly and the quality of produce was great. My husband soon became on first name terms with Ibrahim in the bottle shop !
The welcome pack and the water dispenser were greatly appreciated.. thoughtful touches.
We felt lucky to have found this beautiful little oasis to which we returned each afternoon. At this time of year the sun sets early and the evenings can be chilly.
We enjoyed walking, snorkeling and exploring the local area (camel and quad bike )
Taxis were plentiful and cheap, we never paid more than £1 for six of us.
Abdul was always available if needed (his wife did some washing for us ) and Tim was a most welcoming and informative host. We all had a great holiday and a good experience. Many thanks.
Gill E.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Upstairs has balcony while downstairs has garden terrace.

We stayed here for New Year and fully recommend as a self catering facility.the accommodation is of a very high standard and we were only slightly disappointed with the shower ,which took a bit of getting used to! It is a wet room and totally wets the bathroom floor meaning anyone using the toilet after someone had had a shower got really wet feet !.having said that it was a small price to pay as everything else was great, especially the roof ,which was fantastic. Being a family with 2 older teenagers we found the area particularly well suited to our needs ,away from the tourists but plenty on offer a short walk away,we also prefer to be away from the constraints of a hotel. It was very reassuring having Tim on hand for any problems and I fully recommend the transfer taxi service they offer. The local shops stock just about anything you need at very reasonable prices and the kitchen facilities for making meals was also very good. My only other little niggle was my room was unfortunately lit up all night by the lights on the balcony next door and with the early morning prayer call I personally didn't have great sleep. However my 2 teenagers both slept like logs well into the day and had no complaints at all . Thank-you Tim and Abdul for making our stay a memorable one

This is a great place to experience Red Sea diving and yet have access to the local setting. My daughter found it on a boutique holiday website, and it exceeded even our high expectations.

Now let's get one thing straight: Dahab is a small tourist-oriented location in the developing world. This dictates some limitations, and anyone unaware of that should stick to Cancun. The wifi was off for a while - it happens - but Tim bust a gut to get it back on, with a gracious apology. The apartments are well-designed, efficient, beautiful, comfortable, and as long as Egypt is politically uncertain, available. The roof is particularly gorgeous - windy, because this a windy place - but relaxing and comfortable: a sun shelter covering a square mass of rugs draped on three sides over palm tree trunks, with a generous scattering of cushions. Lie back and enjoy it. If you spend enough time up here you get to know the pigeon-fanciers on other rooftops, who parade their birds in training flights as the sun goes down. And watching the sunset first on Sinai and then across the water in Saudi - I want to go back NOW!

Abdul is usually on site and responds at once to your needs. Tim and Sian divide their time now that the children are in England for schooling but Tim is usually on or near, and most welcoming. He is also very good at sorting things out locally if you plan diving or travel. This is the working and living end of Dahab. There is really excellent local food within 200 metres, but if you want to go to the Strip and be ambushed to eat, buy and dive, it's 100 metres to the beach and then an easy walk - 10- 15 minutes. Taxis are very cheap, and will repeatedly offer you rides..

This is a tough time for Egyptian tourism; everyone is desperate for business. Right now Dahab offers bargains wherever you look, but Sea Stars will still be a gem when the masses return. And to be woken by a Laughing dove on the bedroom windowsill a foot from my head . . .

Room Tip: planning laws restrict all buildings to 2 floors; first floor has little balconies, we had ground fl...

My father & I stayed for Christmas week & Sea Stars really couldn't have suited us better.

The flat was perfect - simply and beautifully decorated, clean, functional, comfortable and spacious. The welcome pack was more than welcome & the roof terrace idyllic, with views of the sea and the mountains, and a very comfy hammock. The location was exactly right for us - in the middle of the old town, right by the sea, surrounded by local homes, shops and restaurants.

Tim is a wonderful host and both he and Abdul are friendly and helpful without being intrusive . All our requests and queries were attended to swiftly and efficiently, including three days of fabulous diving. Sea Stars is ideal for the independent traveller looking for comfort and relaxation.

This part of Dahab is small, friendly, and full of goats, and the sea offers excellent snorkelling & diving, straight from the shore. We are already planning our second visit, having only returned home yesterday, and will definitely be staying at Sea Stars.

Room Tip: We had a garden apartment which was great for access and shelter from the winter wind. I might try...

Sea Stars is a great self catering option in Assalah - the proper end of Dahab. The apartment is quiet and well appointed with all you'll need for a v comfortable stay. Air conditioned and v clean with amazing roof terrace with great views over reef, mountains and minerets. Water pressure isn't amazing but Tim, Sian and Abdul make living there v easy. Good restaurants not so far plus The Furry Cup a great drinking spot. $3 truck ride to lagoon for windsurfing and kite surfing. Harry Nass has great kit. Awesome place for autumn sun at a v reasonable price!
