This is my second visit to Dahab, but the first time at this Hotel!!!! As in the words of 'Arnie Swarz' - "We will be back!!!!" Had a fab two weeks here although temperature cooler than normal with a few cold winds!!! I needed a Cardigan in the evening. The second week got hotter and we returned with colour. Great service and friendly staff! Mr Bean in the evening bar upstairs is a riot and mad football supporter!!! If male guests are invited to play footie with the staff at the hotel, rumour has it, it is an experience to behold!!!! Buchi and the excursion team are a riot and very helpful. Staff bend over backwards in the hotel, u always get service with a smile!!! Swimming Pool warm too! Down sides are a lack of entertainment in the evening and variety of local food or themed nights.

If you have had a dream, tell Buchi about it!!!! An evening at Wady Connection was a peaceful experience and for those who like to do off the beaten track stuff and to mix amongst the locals, it is a must!! The views over Dahab at night and to see Saudia Arabia across the water is quiet breathtaking!!! The trip to the Bedouin night and the White and Red Canyons is something else!!!! Made some great friends and we hope to go back to Dahab for a week at the end of October. Food was basic, but enjoyable! For a holiday on a budget and if your requiring all the basics with the love and warmth of the people and all the water sports and cultural interests, you will not be disappointed. Laylla Bar in the main town is great for snacks, drink and to loaf in the Sun. Ali Baba Restaurant is a must, a fabulous place and great to visit if you are celebrating a special occasion and fancy splashing out a little. The service is outstanding and the Lobster and Tiger Prawns are to die for!!!! If you fancy a chilled night, then the Dolphin Restaurant smoking the 'Apple Shisha' is fun! They do great food, especially Kebabs late at night, when you have supped the local Beers either ‘Sekara or ‘Millers’!!!! A great campfire in a cosy atmosphere and a stones throw away from ‘The Tree Bar’ a local disco in the town, where we had a bit of a bop!!!! There is also Rush Bar and Mojito, but all were quiet due to it being low season.

Beware of being pestered to go in the shops by the locals!!! Be firm, but polite when refusing their beckoning gestures. They are after all, trying to make a living and the current climate has been bad for them, especially since the revolution. Use the local taxi service, cheap and an experience to behold. We had a top fortnight and the warmth of the staff in the Hotel and people in resort, made our trip a fabulous experience. Back home now in the UK now, eager to return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view, as it is warmer on that side with more light. It is cooler and dark...

All I'll say is that things continue to be a joy at this hotel. If they have been feeling the pinch of a few bad seasons locally, they don't show it. Food seems to be more inventive and staff only too happy to accommodate any requests.

They have got a little stricter on the fill your own water bottle policy, so be prepared for that. Apparently, some of the half/room-only guests had been filling up for their friends.

Guests a weird and wonderful blend of East and Western Europeans, but nobody and trouble, and mercifully few kids.

Thanks Tropitel! We will be back!

Room Tip: No real difference, in my opinion.

We (my wife & I) arrived on 29th Dec 2011 at about 8pm . We went and had a meal & then to the bar & had a great night the guests were friendly & the bar staff even friendlier . Had a good nights sleep even though the beds were very very hard . In the morning we walked round the hotel exploring the pool & the beach e.t.c. At first you think the beach is a bit gravelly and rough . We went to the end of the jetty & snorkelled '. Well what a fantastic position this hotel is in I have dived and snorkelled all over the world Red Sea , Barrier Reef , Florida Keys e.t.c. & this is as good as any of them but only a 2 minute walk from your hotel room .

The Hotel .

Excellent value . The staff were some of the best I have ever come across , especially Mike the barman . The bar staff , in fact all the staff were exceptional & I think genuine .
The food was good if a bit repetitive , we went to town for a couple of nights & had a meal in Nemo's & Sharks . Both were equaly very good and great value .

I would return to this Hotel & recommend it to anyone .

The only negative thing I would say is that you had to pay for drinks for the New Years Eve Do . So most people left the Gala at 10.30 & went to the free bar , which spoiled it at bit .

The beds are very very hard but an extra couple of Vodka's in the free bar help with this .

All in all an excellent place .

Don't tell everybody !

Recently returned from a months holiday over xmas & new year & again it was fab. On our arrival we were greeted by the bell boy who remembered us from last year. The staff really are a credit to the hotel & work tremendously hard.
The hotel is a short ride from dahab but u can use the hotel free bus or get a taxi for about £3 ( 30 Egyptian pound )
There is no entertainment or kids clubs at the hotel so it is nice & quiet to relax & make new friends.
The hotel have themed evenings for food during the week as in bbq or mexican & also offer a beach party or bedouin tent at a fee.
There is a small bar inside but can get a little uncomfortable if full of smokers, perhaps the mamagement could encourage smokers to use the larger seating area's or the balcony.
The blue hole is approx 45 min walk but go early before the trucks from sharm el sheikh arrive.
A quad bike or dune buggy to 3 pools, lagoona & blue hole is well worth it.
We enjoyed the xmas & new years gala meals in the marquee but again disagree with having to buy drinks when we are all inclusive, however the chefs really did put on a wonderful display of foods.
Our room was always cleaned well & we had some great displays of towel art from the room boys.
The house reef is accessed by a jetty & steps & is a home to amazing fish & all on your doorstep.
There are lots of different trips that all can be arranged in the hotel by Butchoy.
Special thank you to bar staff Michael who always rembered our morning coffee, Mr Bean for just being Mr Bean, Sharl for his tricks & wonderful smile & of course captain Nagy.
Restaurant staff & Josef. All the chefs for feeding us so well especially Sherif Mohamed & finally Mr Sherif Nagy for the special meal on our last night ....it was much appreciated.
Can't wait to return !

Just had a week break in the tropitel dahab oasis. very good value, nice clean room, (though the mattress was a bit hard), food was ok, not brilliant, but good for all inclusive. staff were friendly and helpful. the hotel is right on the beach, with two diving shops at either side of it, if thats your thing, diving and snorkelling were great - just jump into the sea off the pier and you are on the coral with loads of colourful fish all around. its also close to the blue hole, a well known dive and snorkel site.

one downside was that there was a lack of entertainment in the evening. that said i was there to relax and not be on a big wrecker so not a massive issue to me, just bear it in mind that in the evening all there is to do at the resort is the hotel bar. smoking is allowed inside in Egypt, so we ended up smelling of cigarettes whenever we did go to the bar. that said you can get a free bus into town at 8pm though, and taxis back are about £3, so if you do want a late drink thats a good option. Its a quiet resort, so i guess its better that the nightlife is elsewhere.

all in all a really good trip, nice and cheap, relaxing, thoroughly recommended

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view - better views - you can see the sea over the pool. If possible ups...

The Tropitel is in a good location with it's own beach area (some of the other hotels in that area are on the other side of the road from the beach) and well away from the town of Dahab. The location was peaceful with a great view over the Gulf of Aqaba to Saudi Arabia.

The rooms were a good size, clean and had everything that you would want. For me, the beds were much too hard - I don't think I had a single night where I slept all the way through the night. Also, there don't seem to be many rooms that have double beds and the single beds are built on fixed plinths, so they could not be pushed together. So, some holiday activities may be curtailed slightly! One other small thing - the shower curtain was not fixed so that it hung to the edge of the tray, with the result that is clings to you when trying to shower. I would recommend taking a mosquito repellent as we had a couple of persistent little ones in our room.

The food was overwhelmingly average. There was always a good selection and whilst it was all OK, it is not going to win Masterchef. I think they would do better to have more local dishes rather than trying, and mostly failing, to provide "international" dishes. They seemed to have a theme each evening, but the theme was not always obvious. Egyptian night was easily the best.

There was no evening entertainment provided apart from a "beach party" with local musicians and dancers on Sundays, for an extra charge. There is pool available in the bar area for an extra charge, but the tables weren't levelled very well, which made for some interesting playing conditions. Internet access is available for an exorbitant extra charge.

The pool area was nice and was more sheltered than the beach - Dahab is rather prone to wind.

The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful and they didn't seem to have any problems with the range of languages. They seemed particularly good with the children.

Finally, there is an excellent dive centre at the hotel, which I would heartily recommend.

So, in conclusion, this is a great value place to stay, and if it weren't for the one or two small issues, would easily rate a good rather than an average.
