My husband and I had a really relaxing second week of honeymoon here. We had a lovely Junior Suite, right on one of the beaches. Every morning I just had to walk down our path, from our balcony and we had double sun loungers on the beach with a beach bar and the sea. I am pregnant so I did not move very much from my bed on the beach, however my husband went out with the hotel diving school and did some dives and loved it. For more active people, there is a great kite surfing club/school near by, diving, snorkelling and more. For food we preferred the local Marina to the hotel as we like to get out of the hotel for a change, At the marina try Pier 88 for a steak, or the little pizzeria for lunch. A hotel bus takes you regularly to the marina and takes 10 minutes.
For those with kids, every morning they print a day program for the children and it looks great. We also saw them all dancing away at the kids club, looking like they were loving it.
Breakfast is amazing!!! We can't wait to go back. We went middle April and the temp was about 30 degrees, perfect.

The hotel service was excellent. We were offered a complimentary breakfast whilst our rooms were being prepared. Service all round the hotel was with a genuine smile. The hotel has very good facilities including gym, surfing and diving schools. The hotel organized a dinner with bedouins with us which included camel riding and sheesha. It was a great experience. All in all highly recommended. To make the trip more economical purchase your beer and water from the supermarkets down town. It will save you a fortune!

The location is marvellous, 30 minutes driving from Hurghada. The hotel is spread over a wide green landscaping. There are Shuttle inside El Gouna city which takes you to other hotels and to down town. You can also move by a boat. The Hotel is antique type of architecture. The best thing was the kids club, they've really enjoyed it and it made them busy the whole day with a lot of activities and a very high class and friendly lady in charge. The worst thing was their room service, although they were not begging for tips, but they were rude and uncapable to work in a five star hotel. As a matter of fact, i've send a formal complaint upon my arrival and i got a perfect response from their general manager which i hope that he did what he promised with.

In conclusion, the place is fantastic, i'm sure it's the perfect place for honeymooners and couples in need for a quiet rest. But it also suits families but with less atractions to those who are familiar with Sharm El Sheikh.

My husband and I stayed at the sheraton for a week at the end of april.....

positives:
- hotel was good value for money
- stayed b&b as there were resturants at the marina (10 mins walk)...eating out is cheap, alcohol expensive
- supermarket at marina good for buting water etc rather than from mini bar
- tuc tuc great if don't feel like walking! very cheap - around £1.50 each way
- great breakfast at hotel
- nice /friendly staff
- stayed during our anniversary and were left a cake in our room which was a lovely suprise
- paid 25 euro per night for upgrade to delux sea view - lovely room and view and very very comfy bed!
- amazing shower
- spa good, but small compared to other hotels i have stayed in
- had an amazing aroma massage
- dont get hasselled at all

negative:

- beware of taxi drivers - seriously stitched me up by giving me passatus rather than pounds as change so make sure you check!

- thomas cook flight - very little leg room - paid extra for exit seats on way back

- got biten quite a bit so take sprays etc

- thomas cook rep wanted paying in $ if by card - very poor exchange rate! what shoudl have been £60 was charged as £85 once converted... pay in £ cash if can

Hope this helps... perfect place for a sunny, quiet getaway... it was very very quiet.

The Sheraton is one of a number of quality hotels in El Gouna. We had a peek at the others and felt we had made the right choice. In March it wasn't too busy so it suited us well. The staff are so, so friendly and helpful. I would recommend that if you get to know someone well (waiter, pool boy etc) you tip them at the end to show your appreciation. As El Gouna is man made the beach areas of the hotel aren't suitable for young children (so don't take a bucket and spade) but the pool is great. The main pool is heated and has a small shallow area. The kids pool isn't heated so was too cold in March but I imagine it is perfect in the hot summer months. We would definitely recommend.
