“Absolutely loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2011

We spent 10 days here during Feb 2011. Everything about the trip was great. The hotel is more of a resort meandering between lagoons and landscaped gardens.

The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them and they really made the holiday that bit more special. Went diving with TGI diving who are on site, and they too are excellent and very professional.

El Gouna itself is a great place for a holiday for any age group with great restaurants and bars in the marina and also downtown, it would be a shame to go here all inclusive and not experiance the restaurants etc.

Our youngest memebr of our group loved the tuc-tucs which run you anywhere you want for about 50p per person or you could use the water taxis which operate in the lagoons which run throughout El Gouna.

We looked at some of the other hotels in the area and would say that, although there are many other good quality hotels, the Sheraton has the extra edge I would say. Can't wait to go back sometime!

Dear tkg700, thank you very much for sharing your review. El Gouna has many attractions and the public transportation by tuc-tuc is one of them. Tuc-tucs are easy to find and cheap to use.
We are pleased to see how much you enjoyed your holidays at Sheraton Miramar.

My wife and I stayed 10 nights at the Sheraton Miramar in El Gouna. We were warned not to go by friends and relatives, due to the unrest in other parts of Egypt. However, we went. We are very happy we did. There were not problems at all. Even though, during our stay, the Germans, French, Italians and Dutch were all told to return, and the hotel was reduced to 20-30% capacity, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
You could say it was backs tot eh wall, the old war time spirit as only the British were coming as normal. We know how to behave in a crisis! The reduced staff were great. They seemed to make a special effort for us, as I believe they were grateful we stayed. After all, it was their jobs on the line!
The hotel is special. Laid out between man made lagoons, it does not have the feel on a normal hotel. Much more spacious and easy going. Wonderful arcitecture and colouring. Great for a break! El Gouna itself, is a pleasant and colourful place which does not suffer from derelict buildings, which seem to plague other parts of the country. You can walk the streets in safetly. Indeed, it feels more modern.
GO and visit, you will not be disappointed!

We stayed here for a relaxing short break in January 2011. The Hotel was fabulous.
From check-in to check-out we could not find a fault at this hotel. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The sea-view room was wonderfully clean and well furnished with a balcony and 2 loungers. The extensive landscaped grounds and the way the blocks of rooms are situated across bridges and lagoons, gives the feel of a true resort rather than just a hotel. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of choice.
The Hotel's location on the Red Sea (in the secure gated community of El Gouna) is excellent. As well as the facilities at the Hotel, the Marina to the north and Downtown to the south has all the dining, entertainment and shopping you could want..
This is well worth its 5 stars and would definitely stay here again.

Just returned after an 11 night stay. Please be sure that there are no problems whatsoever in El Gouna or resorts serviced by Hurgada airport. If at all its is better now than ever before and there are no sirgns whatsoever of any unrest having spoken to countless people staying in resorts around the area. Everything availabe as before and having witnessed TV news programmes over my stay I was horrified to listen in particular top BBC WORLD WHO OVER EXAGERATED THE PROBLEMS AND HYPED UP MIS-INFORMATION OF THE TRUE REALITY OF THE SITUATION cauusing total unnecessary alarm to a non existent situation throughout the majority of the tourist areas, believe you me just go and enjoy and you will have the best holiday.
As for the Sheraton. Yes many of the rooms are in need of re-furbisment and are to say the least a little faded, I would hope this si done sooner rather than later.
From last year it seems to have lost a bit of its sparkle and more attention to detail by certain members of staff (NOT cleaning) would not go amiss but maybe this is not suprising in view of the lack of visitors due to my previous observations
Drinks rather expensive both in mini and hotel bars and restaurants.
Breakfast was fine with plenty choice and dinner quite acceptable.
We chose to eat out most nights both downtown and at the Marina.
We found the Chez Pascal (3 corners a la carte) over priced rip-off with no atmosphere, very poor quality food at an expensive price, in fact the worst meal of our holidays.
Our favourite was the Athena Restaurant, downtown neat theEbaed Market.
Absolutely FANTASTIC FOOD AT VERY REASONABLE PRICE AND OPEN FROM 12 NOON TO 1AM.
Would certainly recommed the Sheraton Miramar however above the rest and we will certainly be returning . The staff so friendly, enormous grounds between the lagoons and a wonderful place to relax.
Weather was about 25-26c, sunny most days .
Comes well recommendedwe just love the certain magic there- Go tomthe Sheraton and you wont be disappointed

The hotel was lovely, location great between the downtown and the marina. The hotel area and whole El Gouna was so so beautiful!

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and kind. We enjoyed the service especially on the hotels very nice beaches.

The room was nice with a high arched roof/ceiling. We had a little problem with our toilet, but it was fixed immediately when we mentioned it.

If I have to say something negative about this hotel it's the noice we had to listen every night coming from the near hotel on the other side of the canal (the Marina side). But fortunately their evening entertainment ended always before the midnight. And luckily I had earplugs with me!

Overall we really enjoyed our holiday! Adn we'll be back there some day, definitely!

We had a fabulous holiday, made perfect by the lovely attentive staff at the Sheraton Mirimar
to mention just a few unforgetable ones Yasser, Mohammed, Osama,Nabil....also Mohammed one of the restaurant managers. Ehab from the Orient 1001 restaurant. These people made our holiday.
The food was very good, we were half board but we went out to the Marina to eat just to get a feel for the place and the service and the food arond and about was v.good and whilst it was quiet as it isn't peak season we still enjoyed it .Back to the hote Our room was great, in the 7000's block we asked for a quiet area and it was. There's loads of space everywhere for sunbathing and nice pool areas are available. All the problems were going on during our 2 week stay, but you wouldnt have known it, if not for cnn. Please don't let was is happeningin Cairo make you consider not going to Egypt as it is only in isolated areas, and with what these people have to contend with, it is hardly surprising they have had enough. In summary the hotel is great, the area is great, yes it is quiet and there isn't too much entertainment but you can go to other hotels and experience their nightlife, but go home to the Sheraton because they do make you feel like a welcome friend.Enjoy the Mirimar bar and say hi to Beshtoy,,another sweetheart and funny with it, We will be going back again next year. Many thanks to all the staff at the Sheraton...you are great. Warm regards from The Coopers room 7216 came home on the 1st of Feb x

The location is lovely, sprawling, set among lagoons and well-manicured gardens. My room was clean and quiet (far from the main buildings). A very relaxing stay. Service was friendly and helpful (particularly considering my trip coinciding with the revolution, when the Egyptian staff showed up every day with a smile). The food was a bit overpriced, but offered a good variety; the Orient 1001 was quite tasty. Spa and dive center also offer nice service.

Dear fishfan1234, thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us! Orient 1001 restaurant is a favorite for everyone, who like ethnic oriental cuisine.
The turmoil in Egypt bypassed El Gouna entirely. As our associates are very professional, the level of service has been of the same high standard all the time.
Plese come and visit us again! Warm regards, Ko van den Hil
