Just returnd from a SUPER holiday at the TCOV (Three Corners Ocean View). What a great place to stay. Great position on the Marina, TOP food, friendliest staff I've ever met in an Egyptian hotel. Spacious room with very good beds.Super atmosphere with mainly adults. There is nothing for kids here (execpt a kidspool). Pools are great so is the small beach on the tip of the hotel. The main hotel beach can be reached by free shuttle service every 30 min.Beach is very clean, has a great restaurant, showers etc.Been to Egypt (all the main resorts) several times, but nothing can beat TCOV. Ask for a lagoonview room when travelling during the wintermonths, they have sunshine all day. In summer harborview would be better as they will be cooler.
Looking forward to my next super stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Lagoonviewrooms when staying in winter. Du Soleil buiding is the better of the two.

Lovely Hotel, staff fantastic, Michael is the best barman in the world and remembers all your drinks. Food excellent especially considering they cater for many nationalities and its always fresh. Brilliant for a relaxing time in the sun, yet lovely walks around the marina too. El Gouna is the place to go for a hassle free holiday in Egypt.

Room Tip: Facing the lagoon for all day sun in the cooler months

A very promising holiday ended in shattered dreams. We booked a sea view room, having requested one and been told all rooms had sea views. We requested a balcony rather than a terrace, having been told all rooms had one or the other. We had neither request fulfilled and were put in the older Dupord area. The balcony was a decorative wrought iron strip fitted inside the external window recess! When we complained we were moved the next day to a room with a small balcony at the back with no view, they only room available or so it was said.(The hotel actually was only 60% occupied.) If we had not been led to expect the things we had requested we could not have been disappointed but were were told they were available and naturally felt very let down. The newer part was fine.

Room Tip: Be Warned . The main hotel is gerat just don't accept a room in the Duport annex.# This area i...

Having been to other locations in Egypt we were delighted with our choice of El Gouna this year. This resort is very different in that you get no hassle. The shop owners are very pleasant and would always say hello when you passed but never annoy you, which made a nice change !!
The location of the hotel is brilliant overlooking the marina and the lagoons. It definitely adds to a sense of relaxtion to your holiday.
The hotel was great. We e-mailed ahead on advice of previous guests on trip advisor, and were given a lovely room overlooking the pool in the main building. The staff really do go out of their way to help and we were made feel very welcome from the moment we arrived.
The room was spotless and the beds very comfy.
The food was fine, always something worth eating. We ate out twice, once in Chez Pascal which is attached to the hotel, and the food was just ok. We also ate in Le Garage, a gourmet burger place on the marina, which was really tasty and reasonabale, just made a nice change from the AI buffet.
Peanuts Bar that was attached to the hotel was great, as in most AI places you just have the hotel lobby to enjoy your drinks, but this gave a great option if you wanted to have a fun night out with a bit of music.
Although the hotel is in a beautiful location, the downside to this is it is also very windy here. The girl in guest relations lived in Hurgada and said it was beautiful every morning she left home and then once she arrived at work it would be much colder because of the wind. The first 3 days of our holidays were very windy which made it almost impossible to sit out by the pool or the beach, but it did improve after this. It's just a note of caution to anyone travelling at this time of the year, as it was something I never saw mentioned on this site previously.
Obviously the weather is no fault of the hotel, and for the price we paid we were very impressed with the standard of accomodation, food, staff and the overall area.

Room Tip: Definitley request a room in the main building(Soleil) with a view of the pool or marina. The Duport...

After a three year absence we returned to this hotel and were very happy we did. Being a fussy eater is not a problem here because you will always find something, and the food itself is very good. We did try one of the a la carte restaurants, and found it a very nice change and very affordable. The abu tig marina is a stunning location, not ideal for those that want a lot of nightlife and parties but it is an ideal place to relax in the ever present sun. Was a little cold at night, and sometimes windy but the day more than makes up for that. Find the smugglers pub, it's very small and serves only local beers but gives a feeling of home. Oh and try out 'Zanzibar' where you can purchase home made pies and cornish pasties!! Overall, fantastic and will likely return again in a couple of years.

Room Tip: ask for la soleil and overlooking the lagoon for sun on the balcony, but all rooms are clean and ver...

returned to OV on 17th jan for 10 days.this was our 3rd visit to this hotel and our 9nth in the three corners chain. We have stayed in different hotels on most of the spanish and greek islands and mainland and been to tunisia, portugal, italy and the caribbean and can say the three corners chain is consistently the best we have stayed in.As returning guests we had a beautiful seaview room with a kingsize bed and a basket of fruit in our room.As has been mentioned before we could see people (all nationalities) putting towels out as early as 6.45am and then swanning down as late as noon! This was stopped and the pool boys went round and collected all the towels and placed them by the towel station,it was a joy to see their faces when they came to find their towels and books had been moved and someone else in THEIR place! there is a big sign "NO RESERVING OF SUNBEDS" but obviously ignored. As has been said before many times the hotel is very clean with excellent staff and in a great location on the marina with its amazing yachts. The food was always hot and varied with a daily choice of meat and vegetables, nomally 2 choices of soup at lunch and dinner and ommeletes and pancakes at breakfast freshly made for you.the food must be good judging by the amount of people going back 2 or even 3 times to refill their plates at every mealtime!.I would like to give a special mention to Lynne our rep for being so helpful, Anne and Judith at guest relations for their lovely dispositions,we never had a problem but we felt if we had then they would quickly and efficiently sort it out. Susanne the general manager was often seen walking around making sure standards were kept and was always pleasant to everyone, also Micheal the terrace barman who not only remembered our names but our drinks as well! All in all another wonderful holiday in El Gouna and we cant wait to come back ...Bob & Christine..Essex

The Three Corners is a good hotel made even better by the surrounding Marina. El Gouna itself is a really upmarket resort and is completely different from other areas in Egypt. It has many shops, restaurants and bars all with a stunning view of the marina. The other benefit of El Gouna is that you don't get hassled when walking around. The only negative about the hotel is that you aren't able to snorkel without booking an excursion. The transfer from Hurghada aiport is only about 30-40mins, so ideally placed. Individual aspects of the holiday are as follows:

The Hotel: The room was good and of an adequate size with a view of the Marina. Nothing too fancy but very clean and comfortable. Be aware that even though the booking says 'with balcony', it may not neccessarily mean you have a step out balcony. Throughout the holiday I heard people moaning constantly about their rooms as they were unhappy about either the balcony issue or that they were based in the Du Port building. We were in the main building but the Du Port looked absolutely fine and has much bigger rooms (it's a couple of minutes walk from the main restaurant). I think people moan about the rooms for the sake of it and other reviews have left people with a predisposed idea that they won't like a room in the Du Port building! At the end of the day if you want luxury you need to book into the Movenpick but it will cost you double the price...this hotel offers excellent value for money!

Food: The food was surprisingly tasty and better than the food at other all inclusive hotels I have visted. The variety is sometimes a little limited but taste wise was generally excellent. You can use the dine around scheme where you can eat at other hotels/restaurants up to 3 times during your stay but we didn't use this as we thought the food was so good. We did have lunch at Moods beach along the Marina on our last day which was really good and so relaxing. I would definately recommend this!

Swimming/sunbathing facilities: There are 2 pools, the quiet one is at the Du Port building and we usually went to this one. There is pool side bar for drinks requirements. The other pool based at the main building has an animation team so is naturally noisier, it also has a small beach area alongside the pool where you can dip into the lagoon for a swim. The sunbed facilities around the pools are a bit limited and of course you have the obligatory towel booking issue which seems to be ingrained in some peoples DNA, however this is an issue anywhere in the world and ALL nationalities were doing it, just make sure that you get to the pool early if you plan to spend the day there. You don't need to 'Towel Book' if you go just after breakfast.

Beaches: The Three Corners has it's own beach 5 minutes form the hotel. A shuttle bus operates every 30 mins to the beach and is free. The beach is really cool with lovely sunbeds and shades. There is a bar where you can get soft drinks as part of the all inclusive(but you pay for alcoholic drinks at the beach). There is a brilliant buffet lunch also included in the all inclusive package. The day we went there they did burgers on the beach (amongst other things-lovely salads)-it was fab!!! The only issue with the beach is that the sea is very far out and the water is very shallow so if you want to swim it's not ideal, again for snorkellers this is an issue hence having to book excusrions (see below)

Excursions: We booked 3 excursions through Thomas Cook. Two were for snorkelling purposes and the other was a sight seeing trip to Cairo by private hire. There are a number of options available for a day trip to Cairo. We were going to go by plane at a cost of £165p.p but the rep told us we could also do it by private hire of a car with our own driver and Egyptologist for the day. I thought this would be very expensive but it was much cheaper than flying and cost £120p.p. The rep told us that the travel time for flying would be around the same as going by private car with waiting around for flights and transferring to airports etc. The drive took about 5 and half hours and we left at 3am getting to Cairo just after 8am. We did the pyramids/sphinx which was amazing BUT be aware that around the pyramids you will get hassled a lot and they can be very agressive. Just don't get into any conversations with them!!
Unfortunately we didn't get to go to the Egyptian musuem due to it being the anniversary of the revolution but they took us to the Citadel instead which was interesting. The bonus about having private hire is that you can tell them where you want to go and can go at your own pace. You can also choose to head back to the resort as soon as you are ready. We left at 2.30p.m and got back to resort at 8p.m so not too bad. Lunch is also included but you pay for drinks and entry into the Pyramids. Also want to mention that the traffic in Cairo is HECTIC but your driver will be used to it so don't worry...just don't look!!! This trip is a MUST!

Snorkelling trips: We did 2 trips. One to Mahmaya a small beach on Giftun island and the other was a Dolphin spotting snorkelling trip through Colona Divers who are Thomas Cook's chosen dive charter. The trip to Mahmaya was a bitter dissappointment and very expensive at £55p.p. It was sold to us as a day of relaxation on a paradise island with snorkelling around the island. What we got was an un-relaxing, regimented day trip to an island full of tourists abusing the beatiful coral by breaking it off to have photos with it on the beach!! An absolute disgrace!!! Very upsetting to see a stunnning island being abused by tourists! Once we got there we had about 50 mins to ourselves and then you had to go back onto the boats to go snorkelling on a nearby reef. Some nationalities are really pushy and it is a scramble to get everyone on the boats...the complete opposite of relaxing. The reef wasn't great either and for true snorkel fans is not memorable at all. The whole Mahmaya thing is a bit sad as you can see how badly people treat the coral and it is evident that the reef is suffering from the effect of tourism. Do not book this trip, you will be dissapppointed!! Thankfully our spirits were restored with our 2nd snorkelling trip through Colona, dolphin spotting. This cost £25pp and took us to a fabulous reef directly form El Gouna, brilliant day and highly recommended...and yes we did spot Dolphins!

Evening entertainement: We went to Peanuts bar every evening mainly because it forms part of the all inclusive package! Cocktails galore, good service with good tunes...avoid karoke night!

Weather in Jan: Temp between 20-23 degrees and a howling wind on most days which can make it chily/cold. Pack warm clothes for evenings. Still managed to get a tan though!

El Gouna: Make sure you get a Tuk Tuk to Downtown El Gouna, it's really lovely!

That's it! In summary it was a good holiday in a great resort...pity about the snorkelling.
