For people who are looking for a quiet holiday in a splendid area, they will find it here. Several possibilities for swimming, different pools, lagunes and the red sea. You can eat in 3 restaurants and everywhere outside if you like it.Staff is very kindly and the renovated rooms are superb. In one word Super!!

Very enjoyable stay in this upmarket tourist complex on the Red Sea with
low density and high spec holiday units. Meovenpick El Gouna is a well managed resort hotel with the emphasis on diving, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
We enjoyed doing very little except relaxing in the very hot sun and made good use of the 3 seperate pool areas. It was extremely quiet with very few guests around, both in the hotel, and in the Marina.
Food was as you would expect from a Swiss hotel - very high quality, and presented well. The waiting staff were exceptionally good, and immensely helpful. The cooking stations were spotless, the selection particularly of desserts was of the highest standard. Similarly the breakfast buffet had a great choice, and even better staff.
We had a Deluxe room which had been refurbished - however this involved the beds being moved into the centre of the room, together with the minibar forming a division and headboard for the beds. However in this move the need for air con has been overlooked and it was immediately above and blowing onto our heads. I sometimes wonder if the designers of hotel rooms have actually stayed in their creations. Disappointing.SO WE MOVED THE BEDS AROUND 90 DEGREES and avoided the cold but greatly needed air con. Bathroom again had a high spec but with a noisy opaque glass door, it could have been so much better.
Loved ;
the setting
gardens despite the heat
the pools
double beach shades
restuarants
great waiters and cooks
excellent room staff

but hated
FRONT DESK (when ignoring mere guests and answering the phone in the middle of our conversation, then failing twice to release my hotel room door & i had to return twice to get it resolved).

One the main drawbacks with El Gouna is quite simply is that it is a long way from anywhere interesting or historic. But it made for a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: do a deal, its Egypt & a buyers market

We were pleased to read that you had very much enjoyed your stay at our resort and that you liked our new Leisure rooms - we have noted your comments about the bathroom doors and the contractor is coming back to fix them all. The airconditioning vents are normally angled so that they do not blow cold air on the beds but it seems some guests are changing the angles to suit their requirements. Our team have now been given instructions to check that they are at the right angle in all rooms where we have arrivals.

Thank you for your kind words about the helpfulness our team members and the quality of our food though we have noted your comments about the Reception Team and the appropriate action is now being taken to correct this.

Regretfully business is not as good as we would like, even though we were running at just over 50% occupancy during your stay, as it seems many people are under the impression that Egypt is not 'safe' - as you know this is not the case and we do hope you will be able to tell all your friends so that business comes back quicker.

All our team look forward to welcoming you back again in the not too distant future.

Just returned from our 5th visit to Movenpick el Gouna.
It's become our home away from home, especially because of the friendly staff. It's nice to hear that Movenpick is carefull with their staff in these times (no job losses).
Important is that there are no safety problems at Hurghada airport or El Gouna. If you are thinking about goning to Movenpick El Gouna, don't let safety be an issue because it's not (and never has been).
Movenpick was as beautifull as ever. The renovated (leisure) rooms are beautifull. The old (classic) rooms are good (& clean) but in need off renovation. I think 2012 (end 2011) all rooms will be renovated.
There allready is al lot of info about Movenpick el Gouna, so I'll try to name our highlights: at the Spapool (nice & quiet) you can walk in to the sea for hundreds of meters and still not deep. There also is a reef for good snorkling (beautifull fish & corals). At the Spapool there also is a real Thai spa called Angsana where you can get the best massages en treatments.
The food is delightfull (main, Thai, Fish & Italian), hot & plenty.
There is a lot of personal attention. Fruit in the rooms, cookies brought, extra towels, calls if everything is oke, you name it. Movenpick does everything to make a perfect holdiay!
Kind regards to all the staff, especially Afrahiem, Ahmed & Hany (+manager Spapool) and the boys of the Spapool.
Fam. Baks, Holland

PS; go snorkling with Colona Divers, trip Dolphin Spotting, Eur 30. We've seen dolphins 7 out of 8 times.

Used one of the "intoegypt" mini breaks & treated ourselves to sea view, as it was my husbands birthday trip & got a superior room, he also got a complimentary card & cake:)

Very well appointed, comfortable seating, attractive layout & decoration & a kettle (unusual for Egypt!)

Personally felt the pool area was noisy with the activities in the afternoon (& the music) but we asked & were happily moved to a lovely quiet room.

I prefer firm pillows & theirs were too soft, there was 1 firm one there & I'm sure we could have asked for a second but had taken our own.

Staff were all extremely helpful, they couldn't have been nicer when we got moved.

We had gone to El Gouna for the wide range of restaurants so only ate in resort once at the Thai restaurant, which was lovely. Rated restaurant down as they served "nectar" instead of juice for breakfast.

Dear franEgyptUK

We were very pleased to read that you had chosen our Resort for your Celebration and that you had very much enjoyed your 3 day break.

We have noted your comments about the noise at the activities pool - we actually have 4 pool areas and the other 3 have no activities, so that we can meet the demands of our differing clientele. We also have different types of pillows available at Housekeeping and are sorry that we had not advised you of this. At breakfast we have both Nectars and Juices and regret that you only saw the Nectars.

Thank you for your kind words about the helpfulness and friendliness of our team members and they all join us in hoping that it will not be too long before we can welcome you back again.

We have stayed at the Movenpick many times over the last 8 years. The location I believe is the best in El Gouna, the grounds are spacious & well kept (with an abundance of flowers this year - well done the gardener) there is plenty of room around the pools - no crowded sun beds. The rooms are spacious, the staff welcoming & always ready to help in any way they can.
The only downfall in all these years is the errosion of the beach area. I can remember when it was at least 10 meters wide between the lagoon & the sea with relatively soft sand, a pleasure to walk along. Now however all that is left is a narrow strip of hard packed, stoney land. Not nice & difficult to access the sea.
Come on Movenpick, make the most of your sea front aspect & what should be a major recommendation/ sales point, & bring it back up to the standard it was.

Dear GAILBirmingham

We were very pleased to read that you have very much enjoyed yet another stay with us.

Thank you for having raised the issue of the beach erosion as we are not at all happy with this either. We had applied on several occasions to the Ministry of the Enviroment (in the previous Government) for permission to bring sand in and to 'unblock' the 2 areas (at either end of our grounds) where the sand has silted up over the years and we are still awaiting for permission to be able to do this work. Regretfully, this permission has not been forthcoming so far and this is indeed very frustrating as we agree with you entirely on this subject.

We raised this again in early May (with the post revolution Government) and we have now been told that a team of 'experts' will come down to review the situation - however, despite ansking for a date for this visit, we have not been advised when this will take place. We shall continue reminding them.

Please rest assured that this issue is of very grave concern to us and that we shall continue reminding the Government that a lack of action will make the situation worse.

Nevertheless, we do hope that you will 'not hold this against us' and that it will not be too long before we can welcome you back to our Resort again.

Big pluses excellent food at Fishermans hut - sensatioanl tempura prawns - and a great sleep in a very comfortable bed...also nice to see a room with a blackout that works - especially as it gets light at 4.30am. Good job guys - I'll be back
