Dear Mr. Ahmed,

Thank you for your comment, we are very sorry, that you had to face some ants in the room, Normally, if there is no food left around the room the ants are not entering the rooms and we are having a Pest control company touring the resort twice daily to minimize the attacks as much as possible.
Please feel free to send me and let me know which area of the hotel you were staying in, to recheck the situation there.
We sincerely hope to be able to welcome you again in our resort and show you, that your unfortunate experience is not our standard.
Best regards

OK, its a resort and not a hotel so maybe my expectations were not properly calibrated but still i expected more even for the "best resort" in El-Gouna.

I will give it to the resort it had everything, and i mean everything, that one will need in a resort:
Indoors (table tennis, gym (though very small), sauna, massage and spa, facial treatment saloon, daily children dance/animation sessions, some live performances etc) and outdoors (variety of swimming pools (heated and non heated) for all ages, outdoor jogging tracks/trail, bicycle riding tracks/trail, 2 large tennis courts, play ground built for kids, camel rides, boat rides, snorkeling facility etc). And of course the large span of sea shore where the family can safely swim/play in the red sea. Seriously it had everything!
The staff are very pleasant and ready to help at all times.

So what is missing?

The room - clean but not not as big as i would have expected a deluxe room
Structure of the resort - the rooms are spread across the large span of land the resort is on. The structure is not the prettiest i have seen and i feel it can be better. Ask for rooms very close to the reception area (that's where the restaurant for breakfast is located) as the walk from any of same rooms in cluster 7 is minimum 10mins.

So if you are looking for a resort (not hotel) in El Gouna, I will recommend this resort any day just be sure what you are looking for is a resort otherwise i believe you can get slightly lesser price hotels in El Gouna.

Stayed here from Friday 4th April till Monday 7th April. Stayed a night in room 7316 and then changed to room 2306.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the reception area; cluster 1, 2, 3 & 4.

The place is amazing, animation team are very friendly.

Also the kids club activities make the kids busy during our trip

We had one free trail for kids surfing .

Reviewed 15 April 2014

My wife and I have just returned from a superb 2 week holiday at the Movenpick Resort & Spa based in El-Gouna and we would have to say that that this is by far the best Egyptian Red-Sea Hotel that we have stayed in so far!
If you have read, or would like to read my previous Trip Adviser reports, you will know that I am a keen Scuba Dive and with both my wife and I being retired, we now have frequent holidays to the Red-Sea, (this being something like my 15th Red-Sea holiday). Therefore as a result of our experience in staying in different hotels in a variety of locations such as Taba Heights, Dahab, Marsa Alam, Sharm-El-Sheikh and now El-Gouna , we now feel that we have plenty of knowledge on which to base our Trip Adviser comments related to Egypt.
So what’s so great about the Movenpick? Well being a Swiss company the whole management of the hotel is run with typical Swiss efficiency, (not of course that all of the management are Swiss Nationals), but it does mean that that the whole place is spotlessly clean, well maintained and that guests are provided with a very high quality of service in all respects.
Absolutely everything from the quality, presentation and choice of food, to the quality and cleanliness of the guest accommodation, the crockery, tableware, table linen, bed linen, bath/Hand towels etc, were all first class.
However what really made the Movenpick so special for us was the politeness and courteousness that was shown to each and every holiday maker by all of the staff and management at the hotel
From the Gardeners, Room Boys, Bar Attendants, Waiters, Chiefs, Reception Staff and Managers all were smartly dressed, spoke in almost perfect English (as well as several other languages), and always greeted you with a “Good Morning”, “Can I help you” and if you asked for anything you where answered with “ It’s my pleasure”. So while all the staff were excellent at this point we would particularly like to mention and give our personal thanks to:- Walleed (at the Spa Pool), Michael (at the il limone Restaurant) . Siad (Manager at the Palavrion Restaurant) and last but not least Antony Lockett (Director of Food and Beverage), (an English guy), who we now personally blame for our increased waste measurements for offering all of the utterly tempting and irresistible food that was made available.
My wife and I were on the All Inclusive package which entitles you to dine in any one of the 3 Movenpick restaurants, but we would particularly like to recommend the (il limone Mediterranean Restaurant) which offers great friendly waiter service and excellent food in a very pleasant setting.
So after you have had stuffed yourself with all of the lovely food on offer you can walk some of it-off with a very pleasant stroll through the excellently well maintained and beautifully coloured grounds and gardens of the resort, which are planted with a variety of shrubs including brightly coloured bougainvillea and Hibiscus plants etc.
So by now you are possibly thinking (so what is the catch) as no hotel/resort can be 100% perfect?
Well there are no real negatives directly associated with the management and running of the hotel itself, but there are some things that you should be aware of:-
Firstly the Movenpick is more like a small village than a hotel, which is why it's called a resort. It’s a massive complex and to give you some idea of the size, a leisurely walk from one side of the resort/hotel grounds to the other can take 25 minutes and while this may provide for a very pleasant walk through the grounds, it also means that your accommodation could be positioned a good distance away from Reception or the Main Restaurant. (See the Movenpick Web-Site for a detailed site plan and for more details).
Secondly, as I previously mentioned, with me being a keen Scuba Diver and my wife a Snorkeler we enjoy the sea but at the Movenpick the beaches are more like fine building rubble than sand and as there is no pier out to deep water or to a reef, therefore you needed to walk out into the sea for some 300 yards before you can even get the top of your thighs wet.
So while the Movenpick has a choice of 3 lovely swimming pools, for us personally the lack of access for Snorkelling was a bit of a negative. All my Scuba Diving took place from dive boats moored at ABU TIG MARINA some 2 miles away.
So while the beaches at the Movenpick are not great for swimming this of course is a totally different situation if you happen to enjoy KITESURFING as the shallow water and the almost constant wind makes for a great location. (Unfortunately this is not our sport).
Finally, this was our first time in El-Gouna, which as a place we would recommend, but as above it is far windier than other Red-Sea resorts like Sharm-El- Sheikh and the proof of a fairly constant wind is evident by the way that the trees were growing at some 45 Degrees due to the constant wind pressure. There again the wind was not a problem if you were sun bathing and simply helped to reduce the air temperature.
The acid test would we recommend the Movenpick Hotel to others? Answer = Yes Highly Recommended.
Would we return to the Movenpick again ourselves? Answer = Yes.

Room Tip: What the TUI Holiday Group class as a Standard Room the Movenpick call an Economy Room and are curre...

The hotel is very nice rooms are amazing, huge, but the heated family pool is very far from the hotel main amnesties also there aren't enough and close connecting rooms they are very far from the main restaurant, yet it is clean new well maintained, except for flies and Mosquitos, and full of black crows by the pool side which I personally hate.
They should really do something about flies and Mosquitos.

This is a pretty big resort located in Gouna.

Rooms: Average, not over the top. Meets your basic needs. Large bathroom, nice amenities. Bed was a bit soft for my taste, woke up a bit stiff everyday. Balconies are nice. We asked for sea view and got a lagoon view ... Close but not the same.

Activities: lots to do here during the day. Lots of pools, plus a dive center, kite surfing and other water sports. The health club is OK. Was hoping they would have a juice/smoothie bar...still in process should be ready at the end of summer. Two clay tennis courts and squash courts for those interested. Gym is basic, but will make due if you're into weight lifting.

Food: breakfast buffet is average. Don't expect anything amazing. hotel burgers were decent. We spent lunch and dinner in downtown gouna which has a larger selection of restaurants.

Beach: views are amazing. The sand was alas not so. Be careful when walking into the water the rocks are a bit sharp. But then you walk for up to 50 m in the lagoon and the water is still waist deep. No fish or snorkeling right off the shore.

This was our 8th visit and it was just as good if not better than the first time. We were greeted like old friends and felt relaxed from the first minute with a cool drink while we registered. We were happy to have our request for a lagoon view in pod 7 room which was perfect for us. Our room was cleaned to a great standard and stayed that way for 2 weeks, thanks to Moh Sobhy ( excuse the spelling ) All the staff at this hotel are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble, thank you to you all.
The food in all the restaurants ( we used them all ) and pool bars was great, we were looked after most days at the lagoon pool and all the team there were fantastic and a special mention for 'extra special service' to Micheal and Emad, thank you. We look forward to our next trip....................

Room Tip: We love pod 7 but it is a good walk to breakfast!
