“Summed up in three words: VERY GOOD VALUE”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2009

We paid 40% more than we'd normally pay for a 5* A.I. holiday in the Canneries or Turkey, but as the title of my review states, it's very good value for money.
When our Travel Agent suggested this hotel after I'd told him 10 years of A.I. had got my wife and I fed up and we were looking for something "different", with the feel of a top class hotel, being a Trip Advisor devotee, I checked out the reviews. Lets take on the negatives first, yes Germans and Russians and sunbeds and queuing don't go together, but hey, don't you know some "testing"English people? The beach is not absolutely fine sand and with hidden rocks and sharp stones can have a sharp entry into the sea, but you can either take swimming shoes or enter off the 200 metre long (fantasticly engineered) jetty. Egyptian serving staff can be a litle bit laid back, but are very friendly and help make your holiday. And the resort is big, but you then are able to take advantage of the facilities that a large resort offers. On and only one new negative from myself that I didn't notice in anyone elses review is that the hotel, although surrounded by other hotels, next door, across the road is a little bit out on its own and if you are one who likes to walk out of a resort for shopping or walking to local bars and clubs etc, this isn't the place - although taxi's are readily available and will take you anywhere!
The good things: the hotel is just over a year old and has all the great ammenities a new hotel offers, we often take our aging parents on holiday with us and I'd say (although the heat wouldn't suit them) that with the right room, it would work for them. The cleaning staff and gardeners are always working (and it shows!) the food is very good, the consept of four "themed" dining experiances; 1. Tangine (Morrocan) 2. Medditeranian 3. Italial 4. Asiatic (Chinese & Indian) worked for us, you can mix and match and if the Germans haven't got all the tables outside on the "food court" area, while one of your party can be eatting Pizza another can be eatting curry.
We were there a week (when the hotel was 75% full) and only heard of one person getting struck down by the "Egyptian tummy", we and our extended group were all fine.
We were limited to a week due to work commitments, but in actual fact I'm not sure a fortnight would have added anything to our experience - except my tan would have been darker, because if you aren't into sun, sea, swimming and snorkling or pay through the nose for trips out, there's not much else to do. The sea around the aforementioned jetty was fantasticly clear and with only a snorkle and a short swim you can be seeing coral reef and fab fish.
The Spa is one of these places you have to barter - aim for 35 - 40% lower than first price, there are bargains to be had. Never pay the hotel shops what they ask, I found myself being asked for £1.50 for a can of coke!
One of our group went to Valley of the Kings and although unmissable, a really long road trip with harrowing stops at "retail opportunities" and also at the end of the valley, ruined the experience for them.

I'd recommend this hotel to all my Trip Advisor colleagues and if you have questions, please contact me and I'll will try my best to give you the information you are looking for.

i have just returned home from the albatros palace in hurghdad ,dont go if you are english, as we are second rate citizens at this hotel and will only get served if you have your say ,The waiters can be very rude and if you want to exchange money at the hotels bank he will be on the phone while you are making your trancaction and will never aknowledge you,I have never been anywhere where the staff are so rude.
food is plentyful and varied.but certainly not for children , the entertainment is dreadful .please do not go to this hotel if you are expecting friendlyness fron the eygptians,Having said all that there are a few whow are friendly but you will have to tip daily for that have a good holiday

Hotel, pool and beach was nice and clean. Most staff friendly. There was some different restaurants but they served meals that was very similar. All alcoholic drinks tasted horrible. the wine was a thrill...whiskey, gin etc was not imported-only locally produced and tasted more likepetrol. We was immediately sick and had to see the doctor who gave us an injection and som medicine. This kept us upright, but tired on the one week vacation we had (spent abt 70EUR at the doctor). Nothing bad about the hotel actually, but cant reccomend it to Scandinavians, who seems to be very sick and ill in this country. If you want to see ancient egypt history: buy a book or a film about it instead!

We are a couple from Derby have been to many all inclusive hotels, but this one was the best ever. Very clean and Tidy. Rooms very spacious had a massive bed. Beach at Palace not very good but walk next door to their sister hotel beach albatros as beach is alot better their with watersports ect. However there is a floating pontoon that goes a fair way out where you can get in waste height water and swim and take underwater pictures of some amazing fish - we saw puffer fish lion fish and several other fish all very colourful.
You can if you want snorkel in the deeper water around around five corals just off the pontoon.
The Restaurants were fab we had choice of indian chinese italian meditterianian and tangine(morrocan) and some nights poolside bbq. You could get fresh pitta style breads cooked fresh and pizzas freshly cooked in italian with your choice of toppings and omlettes at breakfast. I can assure you if your a fuzzy eater you will find somethings you like here.
If you do here a funny squeeking motor sound which we mistook as a faulty aircon unit then ring reception as they will get someone to come up because its possibly a cricket (insect) in the vent and they will spray some repellant to get rid of it.

now for the diving i would recomend that you dont use the dive service of palace and beach albatros if you stand on the jetty and look to the right you will see jasmin diving
( jasmin-diving.com )that is only 100 yards away this is the best that i have diving with they also do beach dives
they have got 3 big dive boats and the staff and crew are very good and they also do liveabord for overnite trips when i was there i was the only english on the boat but this was no problem has i had the divemaster with me who spoke very good english

I have just returned from a two week holiday at the Albatros Palace Hotel with my boyfriend.

There is absolutly nothing that I could say to fault the hotel, staff were excellent and very friendly in fact they loved the fact we were scottish saying how kind and friendly the british were. The hotel its self was spotless they were constantly cleaning every minute of the day. It was the same person that cleaned your room for the whole holiday and they bend over backwards to do anything they possible can for you.

The entertainment staff were excellecnt we made good friends with loads of them Samuel n Picco were great fun, they made the holiday. And regardless of what other reviews say the entertainment isn't that bad, infact some of the shows were excellent.

Food was fantastic such a variety of choice. You can eat all the restaurants and there are two extras bar's at lunchtime for food.

Went on a day trip to Luxor which cost £60 per person and was well worth the money, would recommend it. We also booked a snorkelling trip through the hotel which cost £35 it was a full day out and we visited 4 islands was a great day, if your booking look out for Mohammed by the pool he'll sort you out.

The hotel is also great for family's they had a fantatic childrens section of the hugh pool with waterslides and climbing frames, they had a small park and play area and the kids rep's were great always keeping the kids busy.

There's not much else to say apart from I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel was the best we have ever stayed at. From the gorgeous room with a massive double comfy bed to the many restaurants with plenty of choice. We stayed for 12 nights on an all inclusive basis and the time flew by. The pool was very cold but the temperature was only around 27-28 degrees and early in the season so would not have expected this to be any warmer. Nice snack bar, which you could walk or swim to. Very friendly staff throughout the hotel. We were advised by a friend to tip well on the first night to get a good service, but we wished we hadn't done this as the first person we tipped was driving us nuts within days trying too hard to earn a further tip. My advise is don't bother, the service is good in any case. Towels are readily available and can be changed as many times as is necessary. The only time we felt hassled for a tip within the hotel was from the towel boys who kept dropping heavy hints. Outside of the hotel I have to say we didn't enjoy this too much. We had two excursions, one to Luxor (very long day form 4.30 am to 10.00 pm, most of the day spent travelling with a maniac driver). The second to Paradise Island, which we loved, but unfortunately once out of the hotel the amount of begging and hassle can be overwhelming. Please note that outside of your hotel any public loos will have some chaps sitting outside asking for payment before you can use the facilities and some even offered us a sheet or two of toilet roll for our 1 or 2 Egyptian pounds .. We did take Egyptian currency with us but when we go back we will take only Euros as this appeared to be the currency of choice. The hotel was able to book taxis for us - pleaes note you will have to haggle with the chap and make sure you get whatever price he quotes in writing if pre-booking - he will try and pull a fast one! Also, when the taxi dropped us off in the main shopping area, he dropped us in front of a gift shop which we were heavily pressured to enter and to make a purchase. We looked around but there really wasn't anything of interest to us, which unfortunately made the nice man showing us around become not so nice!
There was a spa facility which adjoined the hotel but not part of the hotel. The spa staff used to come around the pool on a regular basis touting for business but not in a imposing way. We did make use of these facilities and can recommend them - again worth bartering on the price - we ended up with 2 massages for free :)

There was children's entertainment which was popular although the adult entertainment was sometimes poor but difficult to please everyone.

There was a chap who went around the garden and pool area each evening fumigating, so there were no insects flying around the pool area or gardens.

There was a chap who came to the hotel each evening with a couple of laptops so that people could use the internet, which was helpful.

All in all great hotel - highly recommend.

We got to the hotel at about 8.30 at night after booking independantly! no problem with rooms, we were a group of 4 but booked seperatly and asked for rooms together which we were given! rooms are clean and well presented! beds are very comfy, we were on the 1st floor! sunbeds available all day!! however we were fussy and wanted certain sunbeds so got up at 7am to get them!
there are 4 restaurants! italian is lovely, chefs are really friendly and food really nice! pool bar good of a day if you want to relax round the pool! swim up side to the pool bar great to keep cool as it is very hot! beach not much of a beach but it makes up for it with the manmade jetty an pool in the sea, lovely place to sunbathe. beach next door at albatros beach is nice which we went to once, has watersports on it. The disco in the hotel was also good, not great, but good enough.
pool is massive and lovely i lived in it for 2 weeks! always plenty of space in the pool! the animation team are fab, water areobics is fun. and the night shows are great, the animation team take you to the havana bar which is close by, which was great, they have a foam party every saturday and great music! internet is available on laptops in the hotel, reception staff are friendly and helpful! a bit of advice if you are going to buy ANYTHING go to hurghada new town as it is sooooooooo cheap, the hotel shops charge ridiculous prices for everything.
we went quad biking, snorkelling and to giftun island, i ould recommend all these trips as they were great, really enjoyable! would definately go back to this hotel.
