Me and my husband went for a week to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Not disappointed at all. The hotel was very clean and the room was out of this world. The staff could not have done more for us from the poolman to the management. We were made a cake for our anniversary and placed in our fridge and complimentary meal in the Italian. Service was excellent and we would recommend the hotel to anyone who asked. Food was good and plentiful and not one meal was had whereby we couldnt find anything to eat unlike other hotels we have stayed.

We have been 3 times before to egypt but this was far in front of anywhere we have stayed before and we didnt want to leave. Saving up madly to go for husbands 50th birthday next year with all the family.

Room Tip: The chalet room was extremely comfortable

My husband had a great holiday at the old palace resort in November 2013 and enjoyed it so much went back in May 2014. A bit apprehensive about returning in case it was not the same but we should not have worried - it was still fantastic. The staff make this hotel as they really care and are friendly - this goes from the cleaners right through to management. As returning guests were were welcomed by all the front desk staff and upgraded to a junior suite which was really nice with fantastic views. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. (I did post a review on my return in May but have looked for it and can't find it so have done another one).

A good 4 stars hotel. Nice spacious lobby, good first impression. Its an all inclusive resort, hence food quality is just average at best, same goes to drinks. I recommend rooms with sea view. Room furniture is old, and bathroom definitely needs renovation.
My next visit to Sahl Hashish would probably try my luck at another hotel.

The hotel itself was gorgeous, walking into the lobby upon arrival the first impressions were excellent. We were showed to the restaurant, despite it being about midnight when we arrived and after a fair wait given a meal. Sadly, it was quite awful, but as I say, it was very late so we made allowances.

I guess this leads me onto the food, which was...incredibly inconsistent. Breakfast for the most part was not brilliant, but on a par with the continental breakfasts I have had elsewhere. Lunch tended to be better, some days it was lovely. I would recommend the fresh pasta bar in particular, the tomato sauce was always good and you got to choose your own accompaniments - garlic or pesto oil, vegetables, cooked meats, cheese, chilli's etc. Simple, but effective. Some days there were cooked chicken portions in various flavours which tended to be very nice. The salad bars were very well stocked, there were a plethora of breads to choose from at every meal and there were always a few different carbohydrates (of varying qualities). The evening meal, again was very inconsistent, some days great, other days not great at all. We never ate in the a la carte, we found the menu a little unispiring but perhaps we should have gone for it, as others comments seem to be positive. Sadly, both me and my husbands succumbed to mummy tummy a few days in, which lasted for several days, though this could have been down to the ice in our drinks (though we had been assured that this was safe due to it's being filtered).

The staff, for the most part were excellent. I didn't half feel sorry for them, as they were a friendly bunch and just got bullied by the Russians (more on them later). You didn't have to tip to get decent service, though of course this does help. The receptionists were very helpful, making several phone calls on our behalf when circumstances required it. The waiters in the buffet were also very attentive, though they did get a bit swamped at times, and tended to pander to the rather rude and bossy Russians!

We had payed for the chalet room, and as you would anticipate, it was simply gorgeous. Classy, neutral decor, all the facilities you could want and more, effective air conditioning, plenty of storage space and a really nice spacious bathroom. The room was also very generously sized, with a nice big balcony and a sea view. It was nice and clean and the gent who cleaned our room did a nice job every day.

The included alcoholic beverages were a mixed bag. The beer was very nice and the wine certainly wasn't bad. But the spirits...all tasted like turps. And smelled like it. Not cool. The soft drinks were a bit off the mark too. But this may be down to personal preference...I am not sure.

The pool, restaurants and bar areas were all nice environments and well kept. The large pool was not the warmest, but its a huge amount of water the sun to heat up! And it probably needs to be a bit on the cool side to cool you down when it's 40 degrees outside :) The main concern in these areas was the reserving of sunbeds, which is supposedly against the rules but I never saw it enforced. Also, you get harassed daily to get a massage (cheaper in england), a manicure or go on some form of safari, by four different people. Who then revisit the next day, and the next and the next, it gets difficult to be polite after a while unfortunately. We did however book to go quad biking in the desert with one of the lads and that was a really great experience though not for the faint hearted!! I would also recommend going snorkelling outside the hotel, as if you know where to look there is an awful lot of life to see :D

Overall we did have a really nice holiday, which wasn't ruined by the points above, but was marred slightly. The worst thing was the fact that the place was full of Russians. They have absolutely no manners, they bully the staff, they push in front of you in a queue, they pile their plates with enough food to feed the 5000 and if you are speaking to a member of staff they will talk over you, getting progressively louder until the staff member has to excuse himself and deal with them just to shut them up. We had the pleasure of staying next door to a group who rolled in at 2am one morning, shouting and bawling, banging all the doors around, for goodness knows how long. Just inconsiderate, ignorant and generally awful. I think if the hotel had a different split of nationalities it would have been a better experience.

Could I recommend it? Probably not, based on the above. Would I go again? Probably not, but that's not to say we didn't have a good holiday.

Room Tip: Get a chalet room...they are worth the extra money :)

A beautiful 5 star hotel which is spotless. Staff very pleasant and helpful as nothing is too much trouble. upgraded to a chalet room (as it seems most people are!) Food is varied. For an all inclusive resort the wine was very drinkable. We had two nights here before going on a Nile Cruise then another two nights at the end. A perfect holiday and would certainly return. As in most hotels there is always the situation of people getting up at the crack of dawn to claim their sunbed, but even when they have all been taken the staff will try and obtain one along with a parasol. I think all hotels should have a policy that towels are removed after 1 hour if they haven't been used or it's a first come first serve.

Stayed here for a week in May. Had upgrade to chalet room courtesy of Fleetway Travel. Lovely room kept immaculately clean (even during a sandstorm!). Hotel building is impressive. Air con effective and quiet. The staff are, without exception, fantastic. The Manager is always available around the hotel. Gym is ok; cardio for the ladies and BIG weights for the chaps! Jacuzzi pool is cold; large pool is b***** freezing (although it is supposed to be 28)!! Sunbeds on the beach are reserved before 6 am; others are reserved slightly later but the pool staff will sort things out for you.
Food is ok, some days better than other. The a la carte restaurant is lovely. Beer and wine are fine but the spirits are not so good; the vodka tastes like cheap, white rum! Forewarned, we took duty free with us and had a drink in our room. You can pay for premium brands at the bar, about £5 a go, or try a cocktail to disguise the taste.
Main problem here is unfortunately the Russians who comprise about 85% of the guests. Some of them were fine but the majority were rude to staff and guests alike. Worst was in the restaurant where they pushed in, clicked their fingers at waiters, shouted at staff and then piled food on their tables as if there was a famine expected, before leaving over half of it to be thrown away.I can't see how the quality of the food or drink can be improved when so much goes to waste. However, if you can keep your sense of humour, you will end up with some good tales to tell!!
Make sure you tip the staff; they don't expect it and are always grateful and they really are the best thing about this hotel.

Room Tip: Chalet rooms are lovely

Stayed 2wks @ above hotel in chalet room 4023' situated overlooking the jacuzzi/ pool/bar and just around the corner from the beach. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The Staff at this Hotel are the jewels in the Crown. All areas throughout the Hotel, grounds and beach are kept spotless. Super service from Housekeeping through to Management. Food is buffet style, enjoyable and kept to correct temperature. White and Red Wine - Good. Beer good when cold. Spirits - Not to my taste. Last word - Top Marks for Operations Director Mr Tamer Shaheen. LEADS BY EXAMPLE. We will be back next year to check on their planned improvements. Booked through Fleetway Travel - Full Marks
