Reviewed 10 July 2012

My wife and two daughters aged 7 and 9 stayed for two weeks from the 15th June.

We had a great 2 weeks at the Jungle Aqua Park – We had read loads of reviews on here and decided this was the place for us. There were a couple of reviews that were not so positive so we had slight concerns about a couple of aspects but I am pleased to say it did not affect our holiday.

All the good reviews are correct but below is some stuff we would have found useful before going out. This is our experiences….

We arrived in Hurghada Airport on a Friday evening and were shocked how chaotic the Arrivals Hall was. We read on here that we should go to the cheaper places selling Visa’s but the Thomsons agents were very keen for us to pay at their stand. We just wanted to get to the hotel so paid the £13 visa each and joined the queue at passport control.

Standing under the massive ‘free trolley’ sign in the airport was a man handing trolleys to passengers with his hand out asking for a tip. This was very common at the airport, everyone that did something for you wanted a tip…whether you wanted/needed help or not.

We met Mohammed, our Thomsons rep, at the airport. He was on our coach and came with us to the hotel. He was very helpful the whole holiday. His English was fantastic and he had some very useful tips and suggestion help improve our stay. Mohammed was always smiling and could not do enough for you. He is a real credit to Thomsons. He knows everyone at the hotel and goes out of his way to help. He helped arrange flowers for my wife for our wedding anniversary.

The hotel is huge!

As all the other reviews say, it was kept very clean. There is always someone working on the garden or cleaning the pool and cleaning the sunbeds. The staff work extremely hard to ensure it is kept immaculate.

The Rooms
The rooms are very clean and quite large. We had dividing doors to separate our sleeping area from the kids. The shower was massive, I am sure we could have all fitted in there if we wanted! The mini-bar was stocked with water but on one occasion we were left a bottle of Diet-Coke but I am not sure if that was left by accident? We loved looking at the photos of all the towel sculptures left by the house keepers but we only had one sculpture the whole time.

The Waterpark
The waterpark is great. There are loads of lifeguards around which is comforting if you are not very confident on the slides. The sunbeds at the waterpark go very quickly so we used to get there early when we went. We never had to queue for more than about 3 minutes for a slide. We were very impressed with the whole thing. The floors get very very hot and it is difficult to get back to the next slide. Luckily we had aqua shoes (£3 from Sports Direct) thankfully!

The Bars
The bars were a bit of a disappointment for me. The bar staff had a bit of an attitude. I know they work long hours and I assume they don’t earn a lot of money but I got the feeling that serving me and my family drinks was an inconvenience. We did tip but that didn’t seem to make much difference. Maybe we were not tipping enough? Maybe they were having a bad couple of weeks? Whatever the reason we didn’t like going in the bars.

Drinks
When sitting by the pool in the heat you will want to drink loads, unfortunately that means lots and lots of trips to the bar. The drinks were served in 7oz / 200ml plastic cups and if you don’t have ice you don’t even get a full cup! You are not allowed to a tray, so you can’t even get 2 each. Good luck carrying them if you have to get more than 3!

Restaurants and Food
We thought the food was good, not amazing but good. There is lots of choice and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The waiters were really nice. Towards the end of our holiday they started putting bottles of soft drink on your table for the evening meals, this was much better than having to constantly be at the drink filling stations!

Sales Reps
I cannot tell you how many times we were approached about massages, hair braiding, trips etc etc. This was constant throughout the day, every day. My tip is not to get into a conversation with them unless you plan to buy…otherwise they’ll never go! Just be polite and say “no thanks”

Smoking
We don’t smoke and we read a review on here they said how bad the smoking was at the hotel. We did not find this to be a problem. There was no smoking inside but you could get stuck next to a smoker outside. If this is the case, just move. There are plenty of other places to sit.

Pools
All the pools were amazing. We loved the one outside our room and spent many hours there. As many other reviews have said, make sure you and you travel companions don’t run around the pool sides. It gets VERY slippery and can be quite dangerous.

Internet
There is wifi at the hotel. This is pretty expensive. It was about £3 for 30 minutes or £12 for 24 hours. The signal was good throughout the resort. The upload and download speed was 0.5MB. We kept getting logged out the session so had to keep putting the password in, this was pretty annoying. There is free wifi at the local shopping centre. This is about 10 minutes away and faster than the hotel!

Shops at the hotel
There are very very expensive. 1 Mars Bars, 1 packet of crisps and a bottle of drink = £4. Stock up at the local supermarket!

The Airport coming home
One word: Queue. Be prepared to wait and be patient. We queued 7 times from arriving at the airport to getting to departures. It’s a little mad but you can pay £10 per person and go VIP!...which means no queues.

Entrainment
It was alright. That really is all I have to say.

The beach
We went to the beach once the whole time we were there. Most reviews have covered it to death but my family wanted to leave after 15 minutes and head back to the hotel. That says it all. The bus there and back was chaos. Despite the fact the bus is very small, people were still trying to get on it with huge inflated inflatables!

Room Tip: Aqua shoes at the water park. The floors get very hot!

On arrival quick check in and shown to our room, cases delivered to rooms so no need to drag around resort.

Room-lovely and spacious, tv with good selection of channels, cleaned daily and efficient safe.

Pools-huge selection of pools, always clean and surroundings well maintained. Pool sides no more slippery than other pool sides, and staff are always wiping away water to avoid slips, common sense required to avoid running at pool sides and avoid any wet patches!

Water park-we only used this on a few occasions but was really impressed, lots of life guards. The only down side was that staff kept coming over to participate in trips or book spa treatment, but a simple no and they were gone again.

Food- good selection of food, and so many different restaurants to choose from! We tended to use the mediterranean and service here was fantastic, we had a little boy aged 3 who loved the staff especially Hitham who could not do enough for us!!

Bars-we mainly used the Columbus bar throughout each day and on the night, and are so impressed with the service, we always had drinks brought to us and always a welcome smile and conversation, and yet again they were lovely with my son!! Thanks guys!!!!!!

We also used the jungle bar throughout the day for cappuccino and chocolate milk and again here the service was fantastic!! Thanks Mohammed!

All the staff at this resort all work such long hours, and appear to get very little thanks, so thank you all especially Columbus and Jungle bars for a truly fantastic holiday!
A hotel we would definately return to!

Visited 23rd June to 6th July went with Thompsons. Flight outbound fine but inbound very very cramped not sure you'd have been able to get your life jacket from under your seat I could only just get my knees in.

Anyways onto the hotel.
The Reception - Big and airy non smoking and no alcohol in the top bar so when you arrive there will be no welcome drink for you unless you want a coffee. Check in was fairly painless filled in the necessary forms then was directed to show our luggage to the bell captain and then herded to our room in a group of about 10. This seemed a bit of a pain but believe me it is probably the best way to do it as it was late in the evening and the resort is LARGE and the lighting is very dim.
The Room - Large and spacious, double bed then a separate area for bunk beds and a single fine if you have young children if they are older you may want to book another room. Flat screen TV offering a few english channels, Fridge, Safe, Wet Room. Unfortunately our safe was locked upon arrival and as it was late we decided we'd speak to reception in the morning. We reported it and they gave us a time when the repair man would come and he duly turned up and fixed the problem and it was all over in a jiffy.
Pools - There are a lot of them. There seems about 40 bungalows set around a medium sized pool then there’s the large activity pool in the middle of the resort with little pools leading off that. Plenty of Sunbeds to go round no getting up at the break of dawn to reserve either. The areas around the pools are very slippery so please ensure your have wet shoes on to go into the pools etc as my partner did have a rather undignified slip onto our terrace and cut his hand open.
Restaurants - There's plenty again all sorts on offer and as you have a large selection I'm sure you'll find something you like. We tended to go into to all of them and look at what was on offer then decide if we wanted stuff in different ones we got a table outside The Colonies bar and then we'd go off get what we wanted and bring it to the table. You can go from one restaurant to another no reserving required.
Bars - Again plenty of them our fav was the The Colonies congratulations to all the staff that served us you where all wonderful and the service was much appreciated. We did tip only a pound or two at the beginning of our stay but it did ensure that if there was a queue you got informed to go sit down and they'd be right out.
Dana Beach - Nice and easy waited at the shuttle bus stop got on took about 5 mins and we where yes the sand is very coarse but it just makes a change from the pool.
Water Park - Couldn't comment as we don't have children we didn't even venture into the park.
Thompson Excursions - Only did a couple Mahmayr Beach and Four Islands. Both good if you like snorkelling. Unfortunately as the weather was blustery when we did the four island we only got to snorkel one area but this I have to say was outstanding.
Spa - Didn't go
Clean Clean Clean I think is the moto of the hotel
Tummy troubles - Yes we had a few
Other Tourists - Yes there are a lot of Germans, Polish, Russians. Germans I can take as on the whole they are usually loud but polite and will try to have a conversation with you. the Russians however are a completely different kettle of fish rude and arrogant. Whilst we where there a Russian mother placed her 3 young children into the pool with out the aid of arm bands or other floatation devices then walked off to talk to other friends turning her back on the children who then proceeded down the children’s end of the pool into the deeper water thank goodness there was a life guard on patrol other wise she may have found herself minus a 3 year old.

3 Important things to remember - Water shoes, Arm Bands for the kids, Smile

We were here for 2 weeks(15-29 june) with Thompson ,the aiport is a little hetic but didn't take that long to get through it ,the transfer time is very short ,we got the transfers through Thompson ,but in hindsight it would be far cheaper to just get a taxi when you get there.
The Reception area looks very Grand and we went through Check-in very swiftly ,but finding your room if you are not shown is a little frustrating as the sign posts are a little misleading ?
We stayed in #1114 which has to be the best area to stay as the pool is large and your just the right distance from the reception/restraunts & waterpark which is all in a quick couple of mins walk.
The place is huge it has a pirimter of over 1.5 miles ! which can be a little bit of a walk if you have a room on the edge of the resort.
The staff are very friendly and will do anything for you, even without tipping. They love the English here as we are more polite than others ,there are a lot of Russians here and nobody seems to have a good word to say about them.

It was very hot when we were there , but you have access to unlimited water which is great ,we also took a thermal mug each , as the glasses /cups are small there and also helps keep your drinks cool.
We had no trouble in getting sunbeds as there are plenty to go around ,and only a few put towels out to reserve beds .You get beach towels here so you don't need to bring your own ,and are happy for you to take them on trips .
The water park is Great plenty of slides to make you scream !! most of the rides are accessed from a central tower building ,water shoes are a must very hot & slippery floors ,you can get them from the shops at the resort too.
The main pools are very large and have plenty of quiet areas and shallow areas for the little ones ,it pay's to keep an eye on them !
The food was always hot and plenty of it and only got a little samey at the end ,but we had no Tummy troubles as we used the bottle water to clean our teeth as well, which is where most people forget and use tap water .
We took £'s with us and changed it with the rep and got nearly 10EPT to the £,plus there is a cach machine in reception that will change your ££'s to egyptian .

Overall i woud reccommend this place to anybody ,it was quiet ,very tidy ,relaxing and only the odd fly would bother us,and no mozzies.

Room Tip: rooms in the 1000 are the best,as there close to everything.

Well, this was our 2nd visit to Jungle Aqua Park (previous visit was in April 2011). The hotel witnessed a lot of improvements. The hotel is huge was approx 27 pools. It is a heaven for kids. My 7 yrs old son just dreams of going back there. The hotel does not have a beach front, but they do provide a shuttle bus to the beach. The staff everywhere (front desk, restaurants and housekeeping) were so friendly except for the staff operating the Aqua games itself, they seemed bored and tired, and they really need more training on how to deal with kids and guests coming on vacation!!!
One major improvement that would make this hotel one of the best in Hurghada is the quality of food. It did indeed improve, but, still, a lot can be done.

Rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed in room# 6026, not the best location, but, it could be split into two rooms with two TV sets, it is the closest to the aqua games, but a bit far from the restaurants.
Rooms 2007 through 2010 are The Best.

Room Tip: Pick rooms 2007 thru 2010 and say thanks to TA!!!

We have just arrived back from a 2 week stay and we thouroly enjoyed it. We went to sharm 2 yrs ago so we knew to expect lots of Germans & eastern Europeans. Apart from their non existant manners they're ok :-) some will even attempt a conversation with you if you're lucky.

The pools are very impressive. Our daughter spent most of her time in them.

The restaurants are good , our favorites were the Italian & asain plant.

Anybody who has been to Egypt before will know about poor night entertainment , well jungle park is no exception, we didn't see any in our 2 week stay apart from large screens for the football. Plenty of early nights were had, but that isn't a complaint as our 6 yr old daughter was always nice & refreshed the next morning.

The staff were very friendly , especially our cleaner who made different objects out of towels for our daughter on a daily basis. Give them a little tip ( 20-30 Egyptian ) and they really appreciate it.

One thing i would suggest is DON'T book a trip with the on site tour company 'red sea tours' they're not good value for money & should be done for false advertising as you don't get what you pay for. A few people we spoke to said they'd had the same problem.

Location isn't good either as apart from the senzo mall which isn't up to much apart from a supermarket & McDonald's there is nothing else nearby.

Fab hotel though do no need to leave :-)

Would definitely reccomend it to anybody.
