“Wonderful choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2009

We were delighted with our room in this lovely, clean, spacious hotel where all the staff were friendly and helpful. We were shown to our big ground floor room which had sliding doors opening on to our private terrace just 10 metres from the heated swimming pool. The beach was a further minutes' walk away and led to a bridge to a small island. The view from our room was stunning.
We had breakfast at the hotel and lunch from one of the three beach bars most days. In the evenings the hotel provided a courtesy bus to a neighbouring town for shopping and there we tried different places for our evening meal - all of them very good.
Just a short walk from the hotel is Bulls - a bar which serves excellent food at a reasonable price and the drinks are much cheaper than at the hotel. On the way to Bulls is a lovely souvenir shop - the Sante Maria -owned by two very nice brothers.
All in all we have no reservations in recommending this hotel for a fabulous and relaxing break

My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Marriott in Hurghada.
We were allocated a large double room with stunning views over the beach. It was very comfortable and nicely decorated, although the bathroom was just getting a bit shabby.
All the hotel staff were exceedingly polite and helpful and went out of their way to assist you in any way they could.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the omelette station where the chef made them fresh to your choice. There was a large range of different foods and breads to choose from.
The evening buffet wasn't quite so exciting and again we preferred the freshly cooked meals of pasta or stirfry.
There was a large clean pool area - with smaller childrens pool - and lots of sun beds.
We tended to use the beach which was well equipped with beds and sunshades.
The weather was very good every day - just the right temperature for us.
The surrounding area does not have much in the way of shops or bars but there are a couple of small supermarkets if you want to buy snacks or soft drinks. There were also a couple of bars and restaurants - Bulls was the only one we used and this provided adequate meals for lunch or dinner.
The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle bus into Sekalla each evening and we used to take this to the Marina for drinks. This is a new area - less than a year old - and has a good selection of bars and restaurants. There are also quite a few shops there and we found a nice shop which sells Egyptian souvenirs at fixed prices which were a lot cheaper than you would pay in the high street, even after bartering them down to less than half the initial price. The same lady also owned a shop selling Moroccan wares - fabulous stuff and good prices.
The hotel puts on Egyptian style shows each evening which are fairly low key but quite good.
All in all, we had a lovely relaxing week in very pleasant surroundings and would certainly go back.

Family break with our 2 children after an exhausting nile cruise in luxor.Nice clean family room, lovely view and very helpful staff.Especially Christin who arranged our snokelling trip!
Food at breakfast was an excellent buffet the evening buffett was average .The Tuscan resturant was great with the drinks are very expensive. The private beech and watersports and volley ball kept us occupied. The pool and loungers were good too.Hurghada itself is a very unattractive building site.We did however have a lovely cocooned break.

Travelled in November for some sun and the weather didnt let us down for the whole week
The Hotel was wonderful, the beds have to be the most comfortable I have slept in,the rooms were spacious and clean
Outside sunbeds were plentiful and although the private beach area was quite small the small man made Island helped take up any overspill
We went half -board and although the food was plentiful it did become boring after a couple of days so I wouldnt recommend it for longer than a week
Drink prices in the hotel were expensive..beer over £3.50 and a single baileys £5.00 there were however happy hours which helped
The negatives : We had booked a private transfer fom the airport through the hotel which unfortunately didnt turn up so we had to get our own taxi with the subsequent haggling etc involved bit of a pain but the front desk manager did handle it well when we complained
Our only other gripe was hurghada itself..we stayed at sharm last year and i suppose we expected something similiar.. but it is nothing like sharm.. Hurghada is full on, the minute you step out on to the street till you hop on to your bus it is none stop badgereing...but if you want a taste of egypt i suppose thats more like it than sharm
Money : going by exchange rates at the time it was by far better to take sterling and exchange it over there
All In all a great hotel in a not so great location

I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Hurghada Marriott. We were very pleased we chose this hotel as the location is perfect, being positioned between the new Marina complex and village road where Hard Rock Cafe etc is.

Yes the hotel is 7 or so years old and in places is showing it, but everywhere was spotlessly clean, the bed/pillows/linen etc were all new and the swimming pool and private beach are really nice. For the price we paid I thought it was fantastic.

The breakfast buffet is very nice with a great choice, I didn't eat in the evening buffet as I prefer to eat in a proper restaurant but the lunch menu around the pool and also the Tuscany Italian Restaurant for Dinner were both very good. I was surprised at how expensive everything was for food and drink but the hotel was no more expensive than the new bars and restaurants in the Marina.

The new Marina complex is really nice and this was only place that we wanted to eat at outside of the hotel as I was paraniod about about where we ate. The setting in the Marina is perfect and you don't get any hassle walking around. We eat in Shade Bar/Grill, The Heaven Restaurant (Italian) and the Masala Indian Restaurant. All were nice but Shade, was my favourite both for eating and going for a drink. There is also a Hed Kandi Beach bar and Ministry of Sound club but in January everywhere was very quite.

The free bus shuttle to and from the Marina and hotel is well worth using as it saves the hassle of taxi drivers trying to rip you off. You have to barter with the Taxi drivers and insist on paying no more than 10-15 Egyptian Pounds. They will try on their luck and try and charge you 10 times that!

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is not a 5 star brand new luxury hotel but it doesn't claim to be.

  • Liked — The weather in January, the location, the pool and the private beach
  • Disliked — Hurghada taxi drivers, the bathrooms could do with a refit and were the only areas showing their age

Stayed here in Dec 2008. Really enjoyed the friendy service in reception and restaurants. There was a mix up with our room on arrival and it was dealt with quickly and effectivly.
The breakfasts were delicious-great variety and good quality food, we especially enjoyed the 'egg-station' where the chef would prepare egg anyway you like!

The pool was very clean and well maintained. The gym was also pleasant to use but the highlight was the island and private beach. This whole area felt very relaxing and luxurious. Again it was spottlessly clean.

There was some building going on in the surrouding area but once in the hotel this was not a problem.

There were some lovely local restaurants. Thomas Maison was had very attentive service and delicious food. Ranchos was ok. An Egyptian restaurant next to Ranchos was also good for authentic cuisine. The new marina was a short taxi ride away and great for a night out,

Overall a very relaxing stay at this hotel. I would recommend it to anyone.

We arrived and were not disappointed the room was spotless and spacious. The hotel was fab with loads of sunbeds there were more children than we would have expected but this didn't spoil the holiday
fab weather but the best thing was the staff they were a credit to the hotel and so friendly nothing was too much trouble for them and they made an effort to know your name and use it whenever they saw you.
All I would say is the hotel is expensive for drinks etc and we wish we had gone out in the evening more often - the hardrock cafe was fun and worth a visit
