This was our eleventh visit to the Oberoi so it goes without saying that we like the hotel! It was however our first visit since Dhiren Pereira has been the GM and there have been notable changes and further improvements to what was already a very good hotel.
The new GM seems to have reinvigorated the hotel and the staff and in our opinion re instated some of the five star touches that seemed to have been disappearing!
Boonyuen and her team in the spa are wonderful and although not the most up to date of facilities, the treatments are absolutely superb and I have failed to find any that rival them!
The new Exec chef has introduced some superb menus across the restaurant with prices that although not cheap we feel are fair in relation to the service and the five star nature of the hotel. Should you require anything specific meal then the chef advises to just let him know!
Ok, Wine is not cheap, but the hotel have sourced some reasonable Egyptian wines. Although these probably wont win any awards they are pleasant! Drinks served in the bar are complemented with delicious canapés.
The suites are spacious and were superbly serviced throughout our stay. We didn’t use in –suite dining on this trip, but we have in the past and found the service to be good.
The pool team provide endless towels, refreshing flannels, cold water and fresh fruit and fruit drinks and are ever vigilant for the slightest sign that you want your sun lounger moving!
The food and Beverage team as the ‘front face’ of the hotel are excellent, addressing guests by their name and providing a very personal and attentive service throughout breakfast, lunch and evening dining.
The front office manager along with his team provide a seamless and personal service for booking, arrival and departure and it is clear that if you are a repeat guest your previous preferences have been taken into consideration.
We chose to use the hotel limo service for our journey to and from the airport and when you see lots of other travellers being herded on to buses it is worth every penny!!
We did not venture out of the hotel (in eleven visits we have only been out twice and this was to the new marina,). Hurghada however is not our cup of tea and we prefer to stay in the tranquillity of the Oberoi surroundings!
This hotel is great for rest and relaxation, if you want constant activity then it is probably not for you, however some nice daytime activities have recently been introduced. My daughter and I enjoyed a couple of these (towel art ,sand art and spa indulgence), they take place in areas that doesn't intrude on other guests peace, so if not for you, you wont be disturbed!
In our opinion what truly sets this hotel apart from others we have visited across the world is the unfaltering service throughout the hotel.
We returned home feeling wonderfully relaxed.
Thank you!
