Very strong recommendation for the Oberoi at Sahl Hasheesh.

A wonderful oasis set in its own generous and beautifully landscaped grounds. You won't want to leave the hotel, and its facilities. The suites, including the basic suites, are outstanding: large, interesting, charming, and very luxurious.

But the real treat here is the service. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. No matter what you ask of whom, however unusual or unexpected, the staff will do all that they can to ensure that you have what you want, and will carefully notice your preferences. (A recurring problem in Egypt is the poor selection of wines, and I'm afraid this is not an exception: the Sharazade is acceptable.)

Great diving. The house reefs are so good and so varied that you don't really need to bother with the boat trips. Friendly Padi dive centre embedded in the hotel, so you just stroll down for your dive after a leisurely breakfast. Excellent diving for softies. Some easy, but very pretty, dives for learning, and some slightly more challenging stuff if you want.

Room tip: Suites are individual buildings spread out over a wide area. Quiet and relatively far from the hotel restaurants are the charming suites on the beach. But if you want to be near the hub of the hotel you should say so when booking. There are golf buggies if you want the best of both worlds.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your lovely review on our beautiful resort. The team and I are extremely pleased that you have carried back fond memories of your stay with us.
Egypt charges almost 300% duty on imported wines and spirits which unfortunately leaves us with no choice but to price the wines the way we do and also limits the selection of international wines.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.
Best regards,

This was our eleventh visit to the Oberoi so it goes without saying that we like the hotel! It was however our first visit since Dhiren Pereira has been the GM and there have been notable changes and further improvements to what was already a very good hotel.

The new GM seems to have reinvigorated the hotel and the staff and in our opinion re instated some of the five star touches that seemed to have been disappearing!

Boonyuen and her team in the spa are wonderful and although not the most up to date of facilities, the treatments are absolutely superb and I have failed to find any that rival them!

The new Exec chef has introduced some superb menus across the restaurant with prices that although not cheap we feel are fair in relation to the service and the five star nature of the hotel. Should you require anything specific meal then the chef advises to just let him know!

Ok, Wine is not cheap, but the hotel have sourced some reasonable Egyptian wines. Although these probably wont win any awards they are pleasant! Drinks served in the bar are complemented with delicious canapés.

The suites are spacious and were superbly serviced throughout our stay. We didn’t use in –suite dining on this trip, but we have in the past and found the service to be good.

The pool team provide endless towels, refreshing flannels, cold water and fresh fruit and fruit drinks and are ever vigilant for the slightest sign that you want your sun lounger moving!

The food and Beverage team as the ‘front face’ of the hotel are excellent, addressing guests by their name and providing a very personal and attentive service throughout breakfast, lunch and evening dining.

The front office manager along with his team provide a seamless and personal service for booking, arrival and departure and it is clear that if you are a repeat guest your previous preferences have been taken into consideration.
We chose to use the hotel limo service for our journey to and from the airport and when you see lots of other travellers being herded on to buses it is worth every penny!!

We did not venture out of the hotel (in eleven visits we have only been out twice and this was to the new marina,). Hurghada however is not our cup of tea and we prefer to stay in the tranquillity of the Oberoi surroundings!

This hotel is great for rest and relaxation, if you want constant activity then it is probably not for you, however some nice daytime activities have recently been introduced. My daughter and I enjoyed a couple of these (towel art ,sand art and spa indulgence), they take place in areas that doesn't intrude on other guests peace, so if not for you, you wont be disturbed!

In our opinion what truly sets this hotel apart from others we have visited across the world is the unfaltering service throughout the hotel.

We returned home feeling wonderfully relaxed.
Thank you!

We arrived at the Oberoi Sahl Hasseesh after 4 days intensive sightseeing in .Cairo and Luxor. It provided the ideal location for the second half of our trip which we wanted to spend relaxing and chilling out. The location by the Red Sea is excellent, the suites are lovely and everything about the whole stay was superb. The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive without ever being overbearing in any way. The food is varied and excellent quality, menus change everyday and they were brilliant at dealing with any special requests we had. The spa is the best we have ever been to. We wanted a morning's golf and that was arranged with a minimum of fuss. The snorkelling is good and the beach area and facilities are wonderful. Activities are arranged everyday though we did not make use of them. Though not particularly cheap the quality of everything available makes it excellent value for money.

Room tip: All the rooms are suites.

Having visited the oberoi before we knew what to expect, however our stay was more memorable than any previous visits. the managment team have introduced subtle changes, such as "touching senses" which amongst others includes culinary tunes, star gazing and movie under the stars which all enhanced our holiday. On attending culinary tunes (a much needed cooking lesson) i asked if it would be possible to watch a traditioal curry cooked from start to finsh, the chefs were only too happy to oblige. I had a fantastic time in the main kitchens with the team of chefs, they even printed the recipe we (they) cooked and one more from the menu at the excellent Zaffran restaraunt. On the subject of dining we asked for several dishes not on the menu, sure enough with 24 hours notice nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has a great location with wonderful grounds and fantastic snorkeling, but the hidden gem is the quality of our hosts they have taken the meaning of "making you feel at home" (and special) to new heights, can't thank them enough. If your looking for a relaxing time with great food, suites and service this is the place for you.

My son (age 15) and I were fortunate to have a 4 night stay at this lovely resort in the beginning of October this year. We loved its beauty, both with regards to its setting next to the Red Sea,in distance from the mass tourism place Hurghada, and our suite had all a great suite should have. We loved snorklling around in the sea in front of the resort exploring a magnitude of life in the sea including its corals. The people working at the resport were very polite with a friendly smile, not pushy as some times many Egyptians can be, but always there to please you in a pleasant way. The kitchen was good, offering an excellent menu. However, we found the prices to be somewhat high. In conclusion I would say the place would give its guests what a guest deserve when you are searching for the best. Gabriel and Liv from Norway
