“Paradise !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

It was a very long & exhausting trip for us to reach that resort to pass there our honeymoon ..... after 5:30 hours of contineous driving, a very nice face received us "Mr.Andy" with a welcoming drink saying "You've reached the paradise" ... I thought then that it was a complementry word that the stuff used to say but after passing the following day, I realized that it was not.. it was the Reality... Most of the unforgettable moments of my honeymoon was provided by that resort (either facilities, stuff, views) .. truly amazing.

My partner and I went here for my Birthday September last year. What a fabulous time we had...
We have both travelled exstensively and though this may not be up there with the Burj al Arabs of this world, it certainlty has that something special that makes you want to go back.
We had a suite with a private pool though spent most of our time on the beach.
The staff here are some of the best in the service industry and nothing is too much trouble.
We had such a great time we have already booke to go back in May of this year.
Highly recommended

I had stayed at two other Oberoi hotels in India (it is an Indian company) so I had high expectations. With a few minor reservations I was not disappointed.

This is a really first-class hotel, which must surely be one of the very best in Egypt (and I have stayed in several others). It is an "all-suite" hotel, meaning that our room had a spacious sitting area, a dressing room and its own courtyard with sun-loungers.

The beach is huge and well-maintained. The pool (or rather a series of inter-connecting pools) was also very good, although a temperature of 21C does not really meet most people's definition of a "heated pool" (this was January).

The Oberoi is expensive; a room-rate of over £300 (GBP) room-only is a lot more than you would normally pay for a five-star hotel in Egypt.

But there is one major plus: the quality of the food. Every single meal we had was outstanding, either in the main restaurant (with a choice of two or three menus every evening), at the Indian restaurant ("Zaafran") and at the poolside cafe ("The Pergola"). The quality and variety was probably the best I've found in any hotel.

The only drawback with the Oberoi is its location. It really is in the middle of nowhere so you need a taxi if you want to get into Hurghada or anywhere else. So I wonder why the hotel has a shop that sells ornamental wooden camels and designer clothes -- one selling toothpaste would be rather more useful. And a bank that is open a few hours a day is also of limited use; I suggest they replace it with a cash-machine (as I have found available in other Egyptian hotels).

But I ended the week totally relaxed and with a smile on my face; the diet started on my return to England.

Room Tip: Rooms near the beach are prefereable, although most rooms (or rather "suites") have identi...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review of our resort. I have shared your comments with the team and we are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your patronage of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts.
We do maintain a temperature of 28*C in our main pool during the cooler months which is checked thrice daily including once by me personally. I am surprised that you did find the pool cold. We have a thermometer that is kept dipped in the pool so our guests can also view the temperature at all times.
We find our resort to be absolute value for money. In fact, our competitors in our category charge at least twice the room rate that you would pay for a stay at our resort and do not offer all the complimentary value adds that we offer.
In terms of location, we feel that this is our strongest point of difference. We are far away from the all inclusibve hotel set up that fills Hurghada. Most of guests do not venture out into Hurghada for any shopping as they are aware that the town does not have much to offer. Further, daily essentials like toothpaste are available with the boutique or our housekeeping team.
Lastly, currency exchange can be done either at the bank or via front desk at the resort with the same exchange rates. We feel the idea of a cash machine carries with it a different security risk and prefer to operate as we do now.
I am pleased to know that you liked our food and beverage offerings and we look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends back to our resort.

It would be tempting to write pages and pages about this hotel, but it can be summed up in one word. Perfect.

The hotel, pool, food, suites, grounds are perfect in every way. The staff are all very polite, friendly and helpful and are a credit to the hotel.

Thank you so much for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Ask the hotel what room you require and they will do everything possible to assist.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your short but poignant review. I have shared your comments with the team and we are all thrilled. to have exceeded your expectations. We look forward to many more visits.

We have an exciting year ahead where we plan to upgrade the technology at the resort by undertaking a project of wireless internet and equipping all our suites with iPod docking players. We hope to complete both projects around the middle of the year.

Having read all the reviews on "trip"beforehand, we had no hesitation in booking this hotel for two weeks in January. We were not disappointed in any way. From the moment we arrived and were met by the general manager, Mr Pereira, we were transported to a world beyond anything we had ever experienced before, and we have travelled all over the world. The hotel, staff, food and cleanliness was first class, and EVERYTHING was never too much trouble. Many people have written reviews on the Oberoi Hotel group, and as a couple who have stayed in 4 of them, and on the Philae Nile boat they also own,we can say without hesitation that we totally concur with their comments.
ALL the staff were extraordinary, and the quality of the food was fantastic. Even after 2 weeks we were never offered the same menu. Also, if you were inclined, there were Cookery demonstrations, Pilates, Yoga, Star gazing, Towel folding, and Neck massaging!
We did venture into Hurghada twice, but found everything we needed was at the Hotel.
The weather was warm in the day, but we needed sweaters in the evening, as there was a stong cold wind. ( unusual for this area )
Perfection always come at a price, but this is truly a gem, and by todays prices, above par with other 5 star hotels. Will we return ?--------------You betcha!

After some depressing cold weeks in Europe we decided to leave for a short notice vacation. As we didn´t want to spend ten or more hours traveling we chose the Red Sea as our travel destination. There are still a lot of people telling you Egypt is dangerous these days because of the political instability and riots in Cairo. I can only tell you you won´t notice anything of this when traveling to the Red Sea. The country is highly dependent on tourism and because of mostly media induced scare the visitor numbers have decreased by nearly 30-50% in 2011 and are just slowly rising again. Therefore this is a perfect time to visit as hotels are not overbooked and bargain offers are available everywhere.

There is a plethora of five star hotels and resorts available in Hurghada but the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh stood out of the crowd with its beautiful small villa like suites. The whole resorts only accommodates 82 suites each with a private courtyard to enjoy the sun as well as meals and drinks in privacy. The in suite dining menu is exceptional offering the same variety of cuisines as the three main restaurants. The main restaurant focuses on Oriental and Mediterranean dishes, the Indian restaurant Zafran delivers exquisite and exotic flavors from the various Indian regions. There is also a open air restaurant located by the pool with great ocean view and a bar which we didn´t use too much.Due to high taxes on imported liquor the prices for wine and spirits are well above average.

The hotel staff is very friendly and always tries to go the extra mile to make your holiday a unique experience. One example: As we are passionate amateur cooks ourselves we asked for ingredients and recipes for some dishes after dinner. Not expecting anything the executive chef suddenly appeared at the table and told us all about the dish and its preparation. Not only that but he invited us to the kitchen for the next day to give us a private cooking class and taught us how to prepare the dish ourselves together with a printed recipe to take home! That really underlined our impression of the outstanding service quality.

The private beach is wide and clean. All sun benches have wind protection and comfortable cushions. The beach service is also worth mentioning. As we have experienced in other hotels a day at the beach can be quite expensive because everything is charged extra. At the Oberoi you´ll get complementary water bottles and 2-3 times a day fresh juices and non alcoholic cocktails. To start your beach day comfortably the staff will serve cold towels for refreshment as well as sun screen.

The Oberoi also accommodates a private scuba diving base which offers all classes from beginners to pro specialties. The spa offers all kinds of treatments from Indian to Asian massages as well as a small but sufficient fitness room.

In summary I can only recommend the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh - it offers everything one can ask for and even a bit more!

Room Tip: Depending on the time of the year, wind and sun might lead to opposite recommendations for good room...
