The entrance gives an impression of a cheap 3 stars hotels maximum. However once u enter the hotel itself; it turns to be amazing..v simple, intimate, friendly staff, excellent place to swim. The rooms are too tight but OK for fast vacation 2-3 days. Food is nice. Everything (after u pass the reception) was satisfying and nice. I will come again

We just wanted a quick 4 day get-away at an affordable price and for what we paid for 3 people it's super value.

The swimming pool is great and so is the beach. The hotel is very child friendly and every evening the animation team put on a show that the children love as well as a mini disco.

The big let down about this hotel is the rooms. They are small and dated! I would describe them as beach hits. The air-conditioning units are so old they keep breaking down and the engineer had to come and fix ours at least twice per day. This is a real pain when it's 43 degrees outside. However, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The rooms really do need an update including the fridges and tv's that look like they have been there since the 80's.

The other parts of the hotel are good too and friendly staff. The food is good with a nice variety and afternoon snacks laid out.

All in all we have enjoyed our stay and for what you pay to stay here it's excellent value for money. Just don't come here expecting luxury, because you won't get it.

The room was extremely small. Inside the toilet you can't stand up between shower and mirror even. Furniture really old. TV and A/C very old as well.
I booked five days trip from booking.com and I had to leave to another hotel after the first day.I am not recommend this hotel for people who prefer the comfort during hotel stay.

My daughter Charlotte,16, and I stayed at this hotel between 15th-25th July. This was our first experience travelling to Egypt, so consequently we were nervous and uneasy about what to expect. Having only travelled around Europe and the U.S. we were seeking somewhere different for this summer. We arrived close to midnight, yet we were greeted with absolute care and understanding. We were even given a drink whilst checking in, followed by an enjoyable continental meal outside on the terrace. During our stay we learnt that there were multiple places to eat for lunch and dinner. including: pizza place for dinner, indoor restaurant where food can be consumed outside on the terrace, underneath the Egyptian stars which we chose to do each night of our stay; and crepes, and hotdogs at lunch time on the terrace. It was perfect! The hotel owns it's own private beach where freshly laundered towels are handed out each day. Also, whilst we were there, the hotel were in the process of making new wooden sun beds for extra comfort. Each night, a mini disco would be performed by the excellent animation team for the children and then later on we would be treated for some entertainment catering for the adults. Each night there was a different theme for the show so you never got bored. One night, there was a british comedy theme and the entertainment was great! We had the opportunity to take part in some amazing experiences. Such as Snorkelling with Max where you get to snorkel in some wonderful parts of the sea and view some incredible sights of the underwater life. My daughter really enjoyed it and it was completely affordable. You also get to visit Utopia (an island) and travel in a glass bottom boat and eat a delicious freshly prepared lunch onboard. It was truly amazing! Also we went quad biking with Mohamed through the desert, where we rode a camel and sat and drank tea with the Beduins. Also we watched the sunset. It was beautiful. So enjoyable that we went twice. Mohamed was a truly perfect guide and a lovely person. During the days, many activities were available, to name a few: darts (although not having played before, Charlotte won and was brought on stage that following evening to accept her 'diploma') Aqua gym in the sea (Charlotte did this as well and enjoyed it a lot with Medo, one of the animation team) volleyball e.t.c. Medo and Khaled worked really hard to make everyone's holiday enjoyable and without them, the animation team wouldn't have been as good. At meal times, the chef worked very hard to keep the food varied, and there was always something to be enjoyed. I particularly enjoyed the lunch time salads and Charlotte enjoyed the chicken because it was always juicy. The waiters were extremely helpful and fun! One morning, Charlotte was presented with heart shaped pancakes, that made her smile. Quite often Charlotte and the other children would play table tennis with the waiters because they always took time to play with them whenever they could, which meant that she was never stuck for a game. During our stay we encounter a few problems with our room, however everything was taken seriously and dealt with immediately. Aziz on reception was very approachable and nothing was too much trouble for him to sort out. Mr Zacharia Attallah, the front office manager, was very passionate about the welfare of each and every one of his guests. Some of his guests had returned as many as 13 times to the Sol Y Mar. We could go on saying far more about how wonderful this hotel is but the best thing you could do is go see for yourself! I know we will definitely be returning very soon, to visit out new friends in Egypt. I want to thank everyone at the Sol Y Mar paradise who made our holiday the best yet! Christine and Charlotte

After reading previous reviews we were not really looking forward to our stay, we had chosen the hotel as we were really visiting a friend in Safaga and thought that this hotel would be a good base for us.

The hotel is approximately 25 years old and the outdoor lobby and the reception area have been modernised and look really good but the room we were in even though it was very clean and kept spotless by our two male cleaners was due for a refit.
There is a new general manager Mr Wael Ramadan and he is turning the hotel around while we were staying they were in the process of changing the air conditioning units as the type they had were very noisy but did the job! The manager was present at the hotel watching everything that was being done and making sure that everyone was doing their job correctly. The staff themselves were some of the most helpful, happy and friendly staff we have come across on all our travels around the world. Thank you for that we really appreciate it.

Food presentation and quality was excellent the chefs were always making sure the trays were full and the food was hot yes it is buffet only but they had a different theme every night so cannot understand the comments made that the meals were the same every day, there was also an outdoor restaurant for lunchtime and we ate there once and had pizza which was made to order instead of having a main meal in the dining room

There was entertainment every night and as this is a child friendly hotel entertainment for the children as well. There are plenty of sun loungers and shades available and one day we had the swimming pool to ourselves as most guests are by the sea as the hotel is right on the beach.

My husband was happy with the beer but the other drinks could be better I had to get used to Gin and Sprite which to a G&T girl is a no no! Unfortunately the wine could be better too we only tried one glass that was enough sorry.

The guests in the hotel are mainly Russian and German we did not meet or hear any British guests so come on Britain please give this hotel a chance and like us you will be pleasantly surprised.

We would certainly stay here again.
