This is the first time I have written a review on Tripadvisor but I feel that I need to tell you how this hotel stands out from the many I have visited all over the world. I had my reservations about this holiday as we are used to luxury all inclusive in the Caribbean, however I should never have worried.
The hotels look and feel is of the same standard of many five star hotels rated number one on tripadvisor throughout the Caribbean. The attention to detail is exceptional and the grounds that surround the property are well maintained and kept to a high standard.
We had a side sea view room which was great. The room was large with fantastic walk in shower and large balcony overlooking the complex.
The food, this was my reservation before travelling. I have to say the hotel exceeded my expectations with the fantastic choice of restaurants and great buffet selection throughout the day. The food is of the high standard that you will find in many high end restaurants cooked to perfection. We were lucky to try all the a la carte options available. They were all great but the ones that stood out for me was the Mexican, The Mediterranean and the Asian. The only gripe is staying up until midnight to ensure you get a reservation, however the guest services did help up when we forgot.
The staff around the complex work hard to ensure you have a perfect holiday, even after a 13 hour shift they still have the biggest smile on their faces and are ready to help.
I do however want make a special mention to Mohammad Saby who works in the pyramid bar, he is a real credit to your hotel and should be recognised for his hard work, he really does but the customer at the heart of everything he does which shows in his work.
We also used the facilities of the beauty salon and spa. Even though they are a little expensive it was well worth it for the treatments and massages we had.
The animation team was in transition whilst we was there but the guys from Matrix did a fantastic job and where not pestering you all day to take part in games.
We did have a few niggles during the holiday but they were rectified quickly and in a professional manner by the hotel management.
Overall, the hotel is fantastic and I would recommend this to anyone. We have never returned to a hotel before but we are going to make an exception and defiantly return to the crystal bay in the very near future.

My new wife and I have just returned from our honeymoon, which we spent at the the Crystal Bay Resort in Hurghada. We stayed in one of the suites with a private swimming pool (room 712), which was absolutely fantastic. The suite was extremely comfortable with two large bedrooms, two lovely bathrooms, a good sized living area and walk-in wardrobe. The private swimming pool is just large enough for a little swim but great for cooling off in the Egypt heat. The pictures of the room on tripadvisor do not do them justice.

All of the facilities were 5 star and we were particularly impressed with the maintenance of the grounds. The hotel is extremely clean and the gardens were kept impeccable.

We were particularly impressed with the service we received from all of the staff in the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. We would like to pay a special thanks to the guest relations team (Martina and Nicole) who were able to assist with all of our needs, whether booking our dinner reservations at the a la carte restaurants or helping with our day trips to Cairo and Luxor.

The food, as some have mentioned on tripadvisor, is good but not up to the 5 star quality you would expect in Europe. However, this is Egypt and not Europe so you would expect this. We ate in another 5 star hotel in Luxor and the food was comparable. Although the main restaurant has a wide selection of good quality food, we would suggest trying to book in to one of the a la carte restaurant. The touch screen restaurant booking facility is not the greatest system, but if you are staying in one of the suites, the guest relations team will do this for you.

Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the red sea resort. We would certainly go back.

On a final note, for anyone wishing to book day trips, we would highly recommend using Royal Manta Travel. We booked day trips to Cairo and Luxor, which included flights from Hurghada to Cairo and then to Luxor. We had a private car with driver and a tour guide to show us around the fascinating ancient sites of Egypt. We received a great service, the tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and very flexible. We booked this service from the UK several months before our honeymoon and would recommend checking out their website.

Room Tip: If you can, try to book a suite with private pool.

we had one week here - rooms 504-505-217-529 - ,and everything was ok ! one of the most beautiful gardens, well mentained and clean ; staff friendly and professional - the reception staff realy helpful - thanks to Sultan & team for support -
5 egiptian stars - but nothing to complain off -
rooms are large, clean, good soundproof ;one of the best & cleanest swimminpool - also large sunbeds available all day; all the service very good, discret and polite !!! and that is everything !
we had ultra all inclusive, but we were more than happy to tip staff beacause they realy deserved it !

because we work in tourism industry , we alow us some remarks(sugestions) , NOT COMPLAINS ! :
more variety for dinner...still 5 stars...
music in the lounge/terrace area was not the best choice...a little ”depresing”...
the evening show was hidden over the corner... why to drag people to the show, and not bring the show to the people ?...
as i said the garden is great and also large ; but nobody wants to hear at 2 m away from the sunbeds , in a holiday , lawn mowers from 10am to 5pm, 3 days ... - here maybe some bad management & work timing ....
some mosquitos attacks - never saw anybody do something against them -

we will return ! :)

Room Tip: we would not take ground floor rooms - no privacy because the alley is 2m away ,,,

We have in the hotel Soft animation. Entertainment program boards in different places on the resort The animation team is walking around during the evening to inform the guest about the show and the place.

Mosquitoes are coming to the lights so if you open your balcony door and the lights are on you will find them in a second inside. We have a special Pest Control Team who is spraying on regular basis against the Mosquitoes. The rooms can be sprayed on request.

Every day in the evening, on the lobby terrace, you can enjoy a different singer who sings different songs,

me and my boyfriend stayed at the sunrise crystal bay resort from 3rd may-10th may and i cant honestly praise this hotel enough!
The rooms where very spacious ,clean and modern, the cleaner made us swans and crocodiles out of out towels and flowers which was a good surprise each time we came back to our room. (only problem you might have is insects off the flowers on your bed)

The staff couldnt do enough for you and they made our stay even better!
our favourate bar was the sports bar - islam the bar staff was such a friendly person and we stayed for hours taalking to him! Ala was soo funny too ( little guy)
The animation team where very entertaining and always had soo much energy ! they put a show on every night at 9.30 and during the day they are doing various activitys such as zumba, water aerobics and volly ball.

we spent most of the time by the pool , the pools were nice and refreshing after sunbathing!
the beach wasnt the best ... on pictures it is very deceiving - looks like its soft sand but its not its quite stoney... there is jelly fish in the sea so we didnt fancy going in it but there was quite a lot of people in it so it musnt of been that bad!

We only tried the medetaranian, indian and italian( sister hotel) and the med was by far the best.
the rainbow buffet restaurant was very nice too- was a good chance to try food which you wouldnt back home !
only thing i didnt like about the restaurants was that you had to book 1 day in advanced and if you didnt book early you probably wouldnt get a table anywhere... and when you go passed the restaurants they where never really busy and always had loads of tables free which is annoying when it would say on the reservation that there was no tables left !!!:S

there was quite a lot of power cuts ( apparantly this was nothing to do with hotel which i understand, but got a bit annoying)

overall i enjoyed this holiday soo much and me and my boyfriend are planning to come back later this year !

As guest of Thomas Cook you can also use all the facilities & outlets from SUNRISE Select Garden Beach Resort & Spa as well as SENTIDO Mamlouk Palace Resort free of charge till 24h00.
The touch screen for reservations is to give all our guests a fare change to eat in the a la carte restaurants. As Thomas Cook guest you have the luxury to choose out of 6 a la carte restaurants. As mention above the screen if you have any problems with finding a place you can contact our Guest Service Center.

During your stay there have been many electricity problems in the country and therefore as well in our resort, but our own emergency generator has been working properly on the occasion of a power cut.

We do hope to have the honor to welcome you again in SUNRISE Grand Select Crystal Bay Resort.

Stayed at grand select crystal bay in jan this year,our second time,stayed in room 245,which is located towards the end of the resort,a bit of a trek to get to but glad it was there ,good to walk off the excesses of the food and drinks,all in all a great hotel room were clean as was the bedding
and the toilet and shower,veiw from our room was of the bay and the sun loungers which were a good respite from the sun when needed,staff were always friendly and pleasant ,mojitos which we are quite partial could be served different ever time,with varying amounts of alcohol but by the end of our week they seem to get it right,not to much alcohol we are not russian,HA HA,different wrist bands designate which country you are from,handy if you want to meet or hide from your fellow countryman or woman,a big thanks goes out to susan and here team at guest services who were always happy to help no matter what(Baileys) mayby next time ha ha
all told really enjoyed the break after xmas and will return again
when we were there ,the food in the buffet was on show in small trays ,and we didnt quite like that idea,even though later we were told we could have asked for it to be fresh cooked,but that feel down with our communication skills the ala carte resturants were good and you could also go to the sister hotel ,but we didnt,we arso paid for the fish resturant which again was very good,didnt like the top tear of the resturant being smoking as we dont.!the staffthere did ther best by opening all the windows ,thank to them,perhaps as a suggestion at that end of the bay you could have a bar service,?

Room Tip: Found our room 245 loverly,bit of a warren to get to and from, but quite with good views

Not five star hotel but that said...
Would go there again for a week again but not two. I’d say four star with 5 star reception
It's a “new” hotel but a serious amount of bodge jobs in around the place with lots of poly filler e.g. loo handles literally hanging out of the walls ! Massive cracks in the walls everywhere and we had to change our room keys almost every day as they stopped working after a few hours.
But clean and tidy and with excellent air con.
So that's covers the bad.
Oh the beach is not really a beach but a “bay” but clean and ok and can swim in it no problem.
Primarily Large family groups of Scandinavian & Russian patrons. The latter rather rude and abrupt to the hotel staff.
The rep was good and helpful, so no problems there and you could see him any day or if he wasn’t around then he could be called and would come over.
ALL the staff helpful and friendly.
Pool & Pool Areas. Clean & tidy. Large swimming pools and not full of chlorine. First time I’ve actually used a hotel pool in about 10 years! Don’t know where they got the tiles from around the pool but you don’t burn your feet on them even after hours of sun blasting down upon them!
Food: Main restaurant, ok. Only used that really for breakfast as used the outside eatery for lunch ( which was great ) and speciality restaurants most nights. Always plenty of room. Waiters helpful and always ready to top your brew up. Only downs were that some of the “hot” dishes were almost cold and if you wanted something cooked e.g. fried eggs then the chef had more important conversations to have with other people in the kitchen and not you. The one night we ate there it was a similar story.
Speciality restaurants. Why on earth were they not full ?? Both the Indian & Mediterranean were truly excellent went twice to both. High quality, very tasty and you wanted to come back for more.
Seafood restaurant. Great too ( you have to pay for that though ) BUT if you other half doesn’t like sea food then they are stuffed. Even the non sea food stuff has sea food sauce or stuffing despite being reassured there were other non fish dishes things. My wife ended up having two child portions of breaded chicken which were tough as old boots!!
Entertainment team pretty good ( even though not my thing I prefer peace and quiet ) and not in your face. They put a lot of effort into both the day & night activities
Main bar live music. OK. One delusional woman thought she could sing and absolutely destroyed some many songs but the comedy factor of listening to her warbles was priceless ! The other guitarists and singers were good.
Do the Luxor trip! Guide was excellent but beware of the hawkers, they can get very nasty and pushy. Apparently “No Thank you” is not a recognised phrase in Egyptian. You arrive late back, and just after the restaurants close. There are snacks but literally nibbles so have a big lunch or you can venture to the MacDonald’s !!. Take plenty of water. Hotel does a doggy bag for breakfast too, well handy.
We went beginning of May. Was in mid thirties on the temperature side. If you normal holiday requires one lot of factor 30 then take TWO, you WILL need it
When you get currency in the UK, ask for the small notes 10 & 20 Egyptian pounds, as you’ll struggle to change to smaller currency whilst you are there...
DON’T be afraid to haggle, wherever possible people want to sell you things for WELL OVER the odds for anything.

Our room cards are magnetic like a bank card and therefore very sensitive for electronic devices like telephones or laptops. The card can be activated with the reception .

Daily buffet check for Hygiene, temperature and variety done by the chefs, the hygiene officer and the Guest service center.

Have just returned from a one week break at the Sunrise Crystal Bay in Hurghada Egypt and all I can say is that we are making plans to return later this year!! The accommodation, location, people and setting were excellent. We would like to call out Hasan, the main restaurant manager, Amir one of the restaurant waiters, Osman, the Head Chef, Mohamed, who serves the ice cream in the restaurant and the gentleman, whose name escapes me, who is the main barman within the sports bar located within the resort. In addition the team responsible for entertainment provided a variety of differing activities aimed at all ages and my partner was delighted to win 1st prize during a bingo evening hosted by the team. The sales techniques used by some of the shop owners on the resort allowed us to purchase our souvenirs and gifts in a relaxed atmosphere. Antonios and Ali in particular were magnificent. When we thought that things couldn't possibly get any better, on our last evening having returned to our room having been out all day, we were confronted with our better freshly decorated with towels moulded in the shape of swans and the whole bed covered in flower petals. It was amazing. Would definitely recommend this as a place to visit truly 5 star service at a 5 star resort!!

Room Tip: We chose a ground floor room with an outside terrace overlooking the swimming pools and thought this...
